I am using FM 2017 on a trial basis to prepare a single-chapter document (that is, not a book). When I try to save as PDF, the Save Document dialog appears and I select how and where to save the PDF. Then, the PDF Setup dialog appears. When I click either Set or Cancel, FM does not save the document as a PDF. Any help would be appreciated.

I've read the tutorials about creating newsletters in unstructured Framemaker, and I can do that.  My question is can I do something similar in a structured document.Specifically, I want to create a master page for the 1st page in each chapter of my book that has 4 sections:1) The top of the page has an image that is specific for that chapter2) Underneath the image is a quote that summarizes the chapter contents3) Below the quote is the beginning of the chapter text.4) To the left of the body text are callouts that highlight specific passages in the body text, but I'm not trying to address that in this ticket.My first thought was to create a master page that has 3 sections - the image, the quote and the body.   Each chapter has different content for each box (different image, different quote, different text).  The body text is easy - it just happens.  But I don't see a way to replace the image in the master page with that chapter's image.  Is it best for m

Just did a PDFing speed test.On an old machine with FM10, the PDFing of a 200 pages book took more than half an hour.With the new FM 2019 the PDFing (Strg+P) only took 8 minutes.But the new PDF renderer in the pub pod seems to be even faster: 4 minutes.In a second run with the new PDF renderer, the PDFing of the same book took only about 1 minute! How could that be? Does FM buffer any content?On monday, when I'm back in the office, I will test a really really big book with 1000 pages.

I have a couple users getting Internal Errors 14034, 20554030, 20560368, 20560550 when using Framemaker 2017. One is on version 14.0.3.500 and the other is on 14.0.4.511. Does anyone have any idea as to what I need to do to fix this?

I would like to put an image next to the chapter sections in the table of contents would this be possible in some way other than just dragging the pictures over the table of contents? It is difficult to have the images align correctly. You can see that by dragging them they look slightly off and I am looking for a way to fix this.

Is it possible to search for specific text in a FM document - no matter what that text appears as (cross-reference, variable, etc.) - using Find/Change? If it isn't possible, is there a different way to do this?

I've tried several times, but the upper part and lower part of the images is still blank in the pdf file generated. It is full in the fm document. Can anyone help me with this? We have a software manual authored in FrameMaker DITA. We are looking at around 250 pages once output. We are having trouble with generating a PDF. It either takes was too long, or then does not even manage to finish compiling. I understand this may take some time, but what is realistic here? Are there better publishing solutions for FrameMaker DITA? This is yet another frustration with FrameMaker. It just does not seem to be very robust when doing anything moderately complex.

Just tried to install the new Framemaker 2019 and the new Robohelp 2019 trials.Both fail to install error 183. I uninstalled and reinstalled Creative Cloud app and did not help.Framemaker 2019 install always fails at 79% done.I have turned off antivirus software.

When drafting the framemaker document, the images were embedded.  Now I need to change this to be a imported image.  With the object properties shown below, can the dpi readily be determined?

Hello Team,We are using Frame Maker 2017 on Windows 10 OS. While working on file getting below error.(Frame Maker 2017 has detected a serious problem and must quite giving internal error 14044, 26170801 etc..)Can you please help us to resolving above given error.Also note that we are using FM 12 version on same system. Is there any conflict between two FM version.

Okay, so I am going to get FrameMaker 2019 and move away from FrameMaker 12. So, currently I use Acrobat 11 Pro for PDFing and such, with Distiller and all.There is Acrobat DC, but I hate the montly licensing model and have never understood what Acrobat DC would do for me anyway, so stayed away from that.But, with FrameMaker 2019 and it's new PDFing goodness, what does that mean for my Acrobat 11 Pro installation?Thoughts? I am trying to install Framemaker from the internet, but I get a message when clicking on the install .exe file that it may be corrupted and I should download it again, and I cannot install. Each time I re-download, the same thing happens. Any help on how to solve/circumvent the problem would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks!

I am working on 96-page chapter of a larger book. A 7-page section of the chapter needs to be hidden until the next release, so I hid it with conditional text. After doing this, the "Save as PDF" printing process goes from taking 6-7 seconds to taking several minutes. If I unhide the conditional text in the same session, printing is very quick again.I have no problem generating very PDF files with the PDF printer in other applications (Word, PowerPoint). The issue is specific to FrameMaker and the use of conditional text. What might be causing this?I am using FrameMaker 9.0p255 and Distiller 9.0. - Chris

I am using structured Framemaker and have created an index. I want to format this index so it doesn't use the standard Times New Roman font but I can't see how. I have another index from another document that has the formatting that I want. I copied this index into my project and renamed it, but when I do Edit - Update book, it does not update the index with my index markers (that the index generated with the default Times New Roman text sees), which I thought it would. The text just stays the same.I have tried looking on the help but can't see how to apply formatting to my index. This is the first index I've created from scratch in FrameMaker, the others I've inherited and just update when I update the book.Can anyone help me please?

XREF not accepting element selection in document from the cross-reference tab of the structure

Hi thereI have a lot of text blocks repeated in a technical manual, most of them in tables that explain command line options .What is the best way to handle this? if a block changes I want to change automatically all the repeated blocks.Is there another resource in Frame maker than variables to do this?thanks a lot

I have a footnote numbering issue that I can't get to the bottom of.Although I have a (very manual) workaround that will enable me to meet the current requirement, I'd like to know what's going on in case I have the same issue in the future.First, what I'm using and what I'm creating:FM2017 on Windows 10Typesetting/updating a book with 15 main chapters plus front/back matter.Approximately 45 footnotes (to date).Each chapter in the book is a file in Framemaker.Numbering of footnotes in each chapter is set to continue from the previous file in the book (in both the document and the book).This worked fine with the original (40-odd) footnotes that were in the main text flow.I tried to add a section to the end of each chapter in a text frame. The text frame was set to auto-connect and had a *different* tag to the main body frames (which are at the default of "A").Was working well until I received a section that had 5 footnotes *for that section*.I pasted the text and started inserting the f

Hallo zusammen,ich möchte in FrameMaker mittels Adobe PDF ein PDF ausleiten. In FrameMaker wurde die Seitengröße auf DIN A5 ausgelegt.Problem ist nun, dass bei den Eigenschaften des Adobe PDF-Druckers "A5" nicht vorhanden ist:Zumindest scheint es so ... Wenn ich nun über "Hinzufügen" das Format A5 manuell eingeben will, dann erscheint folgende Fehlermeldung.Weshalb kann ich das Papierformat A5 nicht auswählen, obwohl es in dem System vorhanden zu sein scheint?Viele Grüße,Julian

I need to populate a 2 column spreadsheet ( table) with the figure number and the object property.  Currently, this is happening manually.  I'd like to have a automated way to export this information.  Is the a mechanism or script available to do this?

Conditional tags have been created and formatted for style and color, and work exactly as they're supposed to between all documents.Suddenly, the conditional tags in one particular document stop formatting correctly. They appear when I move from the Hide to the Show screens of the Show/Hide Conditional Text dialog box and click Apply, but they're default font, no color, no underline (as originally formatted).All the conditional tags behave the same way - no style or color formatting. When the tag is moved from the Show to the Hide screen of the Show/Hide Conditional Text dialog box and Apply is clicked, they disappear from the body of the text, as they're supposed to.Can anyone please explain what happened to the style/color of the conditional tags, and how to fix this issue?

I'm getting FrameMaker 2019 availability notifications. I have a TCS Suite, which has FM 2017 installed. Under "Help" the update option is greyed out.How do I update the existing FM 2017 to FM 2019?

Hallo Framemaker-Community,Ich habe einen neuen Laptop von meinem Auftraggeber bekommen und musste alles neu installieren.Es funktioniert auch alles bis auf die Joboptions.Ich hab das File an die 2 wichtigen Stellen kopiert....das auch noch funktioniert. Framemaker erkennt im Menü des pdfs Erstellen das File auch.Aber wenn ich auf "zuweisen" also erstellen des pdfs klicke kommt "Die ausgewählte pdf-Auftragsoption ist bin der aktuellen Installation nicht verfügbar. Erstellen Sie eine entsprechende Auftragsoption oder wählen Sie eine verfügbare." Wenn ich den CMYK-Farben in RGB konvertieren Haken setze erzeugt er mir gar kein pdf, wenn ich ihn nicht setze erzeugt er mir ein pdf, aber mit falschen Farben.Kann jemand helfen?Grüße und Dank
