FrameMaker

I have an enduser that is having an odd issue with Framemaker. They are trying to print a book to a .PS file, when the opperation is run, it is generating an empty .PS file. This ONLY happens to one file, and that file will work on other systems running the same versions of FrameMaker. Other Books on this system print fine. Also if you print to PDF you get the same results. We have tried to have another user on the same machine log in a the results are the same.Any thought?--Mike

I'm having the same problem. I added several sections to my chapter, but the mini TOC won't update. I tried deleting the TOC and creating a new one. This removed all the formatting. When I tried to add back the paragraph style, it won't let me select part of the TOC, just the whole thing. I want the first and last entry to be different. Is there a way to select just one line of the TOC?

I am using the FM 2017 release and have installed the FDK2017 from the official website.I open Framemaker, click on file-->script-->new script but nothing ever happens. I do not get a error message.I have read these two threads that suggest to install the FDK, which I already have. is there a way of getting a paragraph tag to make initial significant letters capitalized?

Hi,I have a few multicolumn tables I created that use my own cell formats called Table Caption, Table Heading, and Table Cell. When I created a table that spanned two pages, the table caption and the table heading did not continue at the top of the second page. This is with Frame 7.2.I checked my manual and it gave no clue as to how to make the table title and headings continue on multiple pages. Well, it did mention the table continuation variable.I then inserted a Format A table (one of the built-in tables) and it worked properly but I did not see any table continuation variable in that table. But the table formats were called TableTitle, CellHeading, and CellBody. When I examined them with the paragraph designer, I cold not see any setting that referred to multipages. This is frustrating.What is it about the built-in table and its formats that are different from the ones I created and why do the built-in table formats automatically continue the title and headings to the next page?Yo

By default, Framemaker opens documents as tabs. With Framemaker 2017 (FM 14.0.3.500), when I drag a document tab out of a tab group into into a floating window, the new window is always opened very small (approx. 300 by 250 pixels), and, making things worse, resizing the window is not possible. Also the commands Fit Window To Page and Fit Window To Text Frame are not functioning, which, in effect, makes the floating window unusable.On the same machine, I do not see this problem with Framemaker 10 or other programs providing similar functionality so I think that this is not a Windows problem but specific to Frame 17. Uninstalling and reinstalling Frame did not resolve the issue.Any ideas on how to fix this annyoing behavior are highly appreciated. Thanks!

I have several conditional text tags in several documents that I use in different books.When I am editing I like to have the conditional text a different colour so I can easily see where it is and if it is applied correctlyBut how can I change the colour of all the text of a tag in all the documents in a book in one go instead of in each document?/jusn

Hello all,FM 2017In order to have a watermark appear on all pages in a book, must I apply the watermark to all master pages (Right, Left, First) for each document?Or is there a way that all master pages can have a watermark by default?Many thanks on advance.regards,Ben

Hello all,Some images are showing up fine in the .pdf (note the very top part of this image is a previous page having an image).  The bottom part (what appears as a blueish box) is actually an image that is not displying properly in the pdf.  I can select this blue box and copy/paste into a word document and the image is shown.  Not sure yet why this is happening to some of the images.Appreciate any advice.regards,Ben

I'm attempting to edit a table title that is continuing from a previous page, but can't figure out how to edit the format of the "(Continued)" text that follows the second table title.  I can't click into the second table title because it's a repeating header from the first table title:First table title:Second table title (next page):I'm guessing it's done in the "Cross-references" pod in FM, but not sure how to do it after messing around with the settings...Anyone have any tips?Thank you!

We are losing page breaks during file generation (TOC, List of Figures) or adding of index tags in FrameMaker 2015. Suggestions?We always place our tags at the end of the header or term, but that doesn't always make a difference. Those are easier to catch than when the breaks are lost during file generation.

One chapter in a book has tables showing hatch marks.  See below.  Attempted to turn off the conditional text but hatch marks remain.  How can the hatch marks be eliminated?

There must be a way to do this, and maybe I'm just brain dead today...I have heading tags that I would like to be underlined.But I don't want the underline under the text only. I want the underline to go all the way from the left margin to the right margin. Like I show below:This is a heading with the underline extending to the right margin.                                          I remain, Clueless in Tahoe Vista. 🙂

Hi, I just signed up for Adobe Stock as I need some background images for a project I'm working on. I've used Framemaker for many years now.I load image #15166609 onto a Master Page of my document. When I try to create the PDF, it hangs every single time. At first I didn't know why this was occurring and I went thru a painstaking process of eliminating variables until only one was left; image # 15166609.I can't use this image altho other images I've set as background on a Master Page work fine.Anyway know if this is a bug? anamoly? corrupted file?Appreciate any feedback.Thanks,Oscar Salgado

Tried printing today from FM to Xerox WorkCentre  70225, and got an error message saying it was incompatible. Has anyone else seen that?Is it merely some weird one-off with this printer model?Thanks!Amy SharpDCI Int'l

HI how can ic save the document into framemaker file

I want to generate a TOC in framemaker 2017 with its chapnum and paratext on the left side, and tab (.....) in the middle, and Chapnum-pagenum on the right side.The reference page is designed as follows (on page 2, which I don't know how to make it page 1):But as I applied all paragraph style to the text in body page, nothing changed, which means I still need to manually add chapnum before patatext and chapnum before pagenum. besides, when I applied style to text, a window popped up as follows.But I cannot change the column layout for the rotated page contained.Can anyone help me out of this, thank you.

In F12, table header cells with cross-references do not link in continuing table headers when saved as a PDF. The links only work in the table's initial header. Any solutions?

I am getting unwanted shadows around grapics when printing. No matter what format of image I paste into a graphics or anchored frame, when I print it out there are hazy shadows around each part of the image particularly for flow chart type images. I am using Frame 2015. Thanks for any advice.

Hi,FrameMaker color conversion issue has been discussed at large. I have read through many discussions, but could not find a fix. If this has been discussed already, kindly help me find the correct thread.We use unstructured FrameMaker (version 9). We generate a PDF output from FrameMaker and an online help (OLH) using WebWorks ePublisher Express.Due to rebranding, we had to change the heading colors used in our guides.I created custom colors in the Color Definitions dialog by entering RGB values and used them.Result:In the PDF output, colors are correct.In the OLH, colors look similar but not the same. Color values change.1. Although I chose the color model to be RGB in the Color Definitions dialog, when FrameMaker (FM) is relaunched, it had changed to CMYK (may be because FM saves colors as CMYK?)2. I am running FrameMaker 2017. I have a book with an index. The index contains index words in two levels, like:Monkey     Gibbon     Chimpanze     GorillaWhen i convert the book to HTML5 using FrameMakers publish feature, I get a nice html5 file.The html5 version of the index I am able to filter the words (keywords) in the index. But only first level keywords - like "Monkey" in my example. The keywords like "Gibbon", "Chimpanze" are not filtered.My questions are: Why are these second level keywords not filtered and - is there a way to include them in the filtering besides making them firstleve keywords?

My colleagues and I all have FM15 and we use presumably the same configuration.We are sharing the files:only 1 workstation generates theses annoying (from a scripting POV) declarations. But only from time to time.when files containing the declarations are processed on other workstations, the declarations are removed upon saving.Where do I have to look to find the reason for the declarations generation?
