FrameMaker

Hi all,we need to convert a large amount of cross references to plain text. Are you aware of a script that can do this, or do you have any recommendations? The xrefs partially reference the titles of the target chapters, but partially they also contain a manually written link text.

A colleague wants to include a URL after a level 2 heading, on the same line – to save space on the page – but not in the ToC."Easy!" I thought, and started setting up a run-in heading … but it didn't do what I'd hoped for, because I'm already using the 'across all columns and sideheads' option: as soon as I select 'run-in', the heading skips neatly inside the main column. Any tips for how to achieve the desired layout will be welcome.layout without run-inrequired layoutContent untouched by human hand, at least since colleague copy/pasted it from various websites. I have a page what generate automatically the numbers of some pages in a list of paragraphsbut in the cas of double pages the process generates pagen1/x instead of pagen1/pagen2, so I want to make a script what replace the /x by /pagen+1.I think I did arrived to arrive to the paragraph (it alert yes at the step what should be doing what I asked) but I don't actually know how to make this replacement, can someone help me ?

FM 12.0, alas, and not as often as it used to be … but I thought I had most of the usual keyboard shortcuts in muscle memory, and now I seem to have lost some: top of file / bottom of file? esc, b, f is still there to make the insertion point catch up with the display :-}Hints and tips welcome!

It seems that the Align Objects toolbox, which as of the 2015 version was a dockable pod, has as of the 2017 revision become a non-modal window that can no longer be docked. Given that the related Distribute Objects toolbox is a pod, I think that this has to be a simple oversight. Does that seem correct? If so, how do I go about filing a bug report?

I just upgraded from FrameMaker 12 to Framemaker 2017. In FM 2017, when I open the Format > Paragraphs menu, only some paragraph formats are displayed, as shown in the image below. If I want to choose a format that is not shown I must use the arrow to navigate the formats. In FM12, paragraph formats were displayed in columns so that one could see all paragraph formats at once. I find this very frustrating at the moment, as this is very inefficient. How can I revert back to the previous behaviour?

I take lots of screen captures and paste them into FrameMaker. The screen captures are small files, not very memory intensive. I never had a problem when using FrameMaker 2015 or previous versions. Now that I'm using FrameMaker 2017, it seems to be corrupting the Windows 7 clipboard. It works to paste sometimes and sometimes not. When it stops working it pastes the previous item copied instead of the most recent one. Sometimes I can get paste to work again by closing and reopening FrameMaker 2017 and sometimes I have to reboot the computer to make it work. I tracked the problem down to FrameMaker because I'm able to paste into other applications without an issue.Any way to get FrameMaker 2017 to consistently work correctly with copy/paste?

I've got an Arabic Right-to-Left document in which everything is working correctly except for a few paragraph styles with hanging indents. The paragraph alignment setting of these paragraphs is Justified. The right indent and first-line indent are working correctly on the right side so that the bullet point or Arabic Indic number appears correctly in the hanging area on the right. However, the first line of these paragraphs also exhibits a first-line indent on the left side, which is not supposed to happen. The remaining lines in the paragraphs are correctly justified (straight) on the left side with no indent. Have I found a bug?

I am publishing a short Framemaker 2017 book to HTML5. All graphics in the book are imported into anchored frames. The anchored frames (and not the imported graphic) have a border applied. In the HTML5 output, only the anchored frames that contained .tif graphics still have a border. The anchored frames that contained other graphic formats (.gif, .jpg, .png) lose their border. Any ideas?

I had an email link in my footer with Framemaker 11 which worked when I made a pdf. But they no longer work in Framemaker 2017. How do I get them to work?

I have inherited a few gigabytes of old documents , and a version 9 of in FrameMaker.I am trying to print to PDF.. I've worked on one book so far.The worst: nine times out of 10, the printing process hangs.I saw in a forum that the PDF printer for newer versions of Distiller were incompatible with the FrameMaker 9. I uninstalled Acrobat DC, reinstalled the PDF printer for FrameMaker 9, but no progress.I read also you had to check that Adobe PDF was selected as the PDF printer. My colleague is using unstructured Frame version 13.0.5.547. He used the option to convert graphics and tables from absolute to relative and exported a book to HTML5 in FrameMaker. The WMF graphics imported by reference don't show up in the HTML file. There are blank spaces in their place. The other graphics/photos are JPEGs and they come in fine.

Greetings FM users. I am trying to create a Case Study for the company I work for. I've never even seen any Case Studies and am wondering:Does Adobe (or perhaps a third-party) provide access to business templates? I'm currently looking for Case Study templates specifically.

I have made a book some time ago and I have now to edit it because of mistypeS, but i lost the original FrameMaker book, and I only have the PDF... I tried your methods but most of the vectorial draws, logo and some paragraphs are not imported and I have a lot of blanks (the pages number is doubled) pages at some places.(I am not so sure that I originally did it with frame maker)

I am not able to update existing books. This includes books that I have previously been able to update (meaning that I don't think it's a corruption of one book file). I'm trying to save a book file as PDF - it contains a portrait page that are letter size (8.5 x 11), and two landscape pages that are tabloid size (11 x 17).When I try to save as PDF, if I keep the page size as 8.5 x 11 in the PDF settings, the tabloid pages get cut. If I change the PDF settings to 11 x 17, the portrait pages are too big.Is it possible to save the book as PDF with the different page sizes? Or do I have to make two books and then combine the PDFs?Thanks.

We have a custom font set installed on Windows that we use to display icons specific to an application. I'm working with a test file in structured Frame to make sure the output generates as expected. When I print the structured Frame file (.xml file) containing the custom icon font to PDF (using the Adobe PDF printer to create a PostScript file and then the Distiller to generate the PDF), the icons render as expected. (I am using Windows 10 1803, with the latest patch.)When I publish the same file as HTML5 help, the icons don't render. The name of the icon is displayed instead -- for example, "delete-icon" is shown instead of an image of a wastebasket.Matt from Adobe suggested the following:"Your HTML5 issue can be resolved if you post the images in question on your server, then modify the CSS to use them."These aren't "images" per se. After extracting a file from 7zip, when opening the file a internal error is displayed with the message Framemaker has detected a serious problem and must quit.

Someone, anyone, please help. My FM is running so slow, just scrolling up or down 1 page takes 15 seconds. I can't get anything done! This started a couple weeks ago, not terrible at first, but progressively getting worse. I also keep getting the "Not responding" message at the top. The only thing I can think of that might be causing this issue is that I signed up for the Windows Insider Program a few weeks ago, to abate the PDF-generation issue. Anyone else having this problem? Hello, all.I am using FM 2015 in a Win 10 environment.When I save a graphic in SnagIt, I specify 300 dpi and a width of 5 inches. I save it as a .png.When I import that .png into my FM file and select 300 dpi, the width is 2.297 inches.Why is this happening? I can certainly recalculate the values I put into SnagIt when I save the file, but I'd like to understand what's going on. All suggestions gratefully received.--Nancy
