FrameMaker

Hello,I am working on a document I imported from Word 2010. The document has one empty page that I haven't been able to delete. I have tried the Pagination- Before Saving and Printing - Delete Empty Pages procedure, but that didn't work. Here is a simple index:When activating the text symbols, it looks like this:I've added some spaces before and after the marker symbols to clarify things.As you can see, there are 6 marker symbols - at first sight.In the lines 2, 4, and 6 the marker text is:openObjectId Test1.fm:1 998704openObjectId Test1.fm:1 998851openObjectId Test1.fm:1 998979So far, so good. This was the easy part. Hi All,Would it be possible that FM does not have capability in updating Cross-referencing to Figures???I have two Topic files, each file has one Cross-reference pointing to an Image (inside Figure element).DITAMAP (of 2 Topic Files) output in PDF. Figure are updated but Cross-reference links are not updated and do not work.

I have been searching this one again and still can't find if there's a solution: Has FrameMaker ever figured out how to allow users to apply a change bar beside the whole table? For example, when the change is the insert of a whole new table, the only way I can indicate this is to draw a line beside the table. Because selecting the content in the table and then applying Change Bar through Paragraph Designer only shows the Change Bar row-by-row (from which a reader might infer that the table was there before and all content changed in it, when what I want readers to know immediately is that the change is addition of a new table), not one single line beside the whole table. Can Adobe FrameMaker not put a Change Bar radio button/checkbox in Table Designer to allow for the placement of a Change Bar beside the whole table? This is in unstructured FrameMaker. If this is possible in structured FrameMaker, that would be good to know...and perhaps the same functionality could be ported back to

Has anyone experienced the <default font> character tag suddenly disappear from the list? It seems to be an FM thing, not a template issue. I'm using FM 2017.

I set up a list of figures, and it works fine.  But when click the list entry, the figure's link displays at the top of the screen.  Unfortunately our figures are above the link in the document.  This means the figure can't be seen unless the I scroll up the document.  This wouldn't be a problem, I suppose, if our links were above the figures.  But that's not in our style guide.Is there a way to make the link display lower on the screen, so the figure can be seen right away?

I want to add a section to the end of each chapter in a book and I want that section to meet the following criteria, if possible:I want the text background to be shaded 10% grey - I can to this by applying a 'paragraph box' on the 'Advanced' tab of the paragraph designer: by inserting a text frame and colouring it; by inserting a table and colouring it.The sections consist of multiple paragraphs - and I don't want unshaded areas between them. This rules out shaded paragraph boxes, which although they go from margin to margin don't include the spacing at the top and bottom of the paragraphs.I want a clear coloured 'margin' around the text... no words bumping into the top or bottom of the shaded area. This rules out text boxes - the first line of the first paragraph doesn't apply the "spacing above". However, text boxes are best for the next criterion, as although I will need to resize the final box if I don't want unnecessary grey, everything else is automatic.I want to be able to resiz

Hi.I've been typesetting a book in FrameMaker. I haven't worked on it for a couple of months, and have since upgraded to FM 2017 - although the same issue is a problem in FM11.The book was saved to OneDrive, and I've been working in my local folder mapped to OneDrive throughout. Now, I can open the .book file - and FM warns me it was created in an older version of FM. I save it and all is fine BUT as soon as I try to open any of the chapters within the book, I get an internal error. I've tried opening them FROM the book and as separate files. I've tried opening them in FM 2017 and in FM11. In the former, it warns me they were created in an earlier version, but doesn't get as far as opening them (so it's obviously getting as far as finding the version details). In the latter, it crashes straight away.I can open other documents in either version of FM with no problem - but it's EVERY file in this particular book, and the only thing they have in common is that they are synced to OneDrive

Workspaces are a wonderful FM tool for efficient working. I have spread my FM pods over three screens. But there are two issues that I don't like:Randomly the structure view disappears (FM10 and FM2017). Is the structure view not a part of a custom workspace?A book (new or opened) always displays on the left side of the document window on my main screen. But the document window should only display my document. And the book should be displayed automatically on my second screen to the left of my main screen. How can I achieve this?Any suggestions would be very welcome.

solve TIFF grey box problem for referenced files

Hi groupI've got 2 SVG images which have the following size in Inkscape:Image 1, the "large image:width: 448 mmheight: 316 mmImage 2, the same large image which I scaled in Insckape to the following size:width: 166height: 153When I put this image in a DITA topic and generate a FrameMaker file from my ditamap (using DITA-FMx), I see that the size of the images becomes as follows:Image 1 (large size):width: 280 mmheight: 198 mmdpi: 72scaling: 50%Image 2:width: 207.496 mmheight: 191.763 mmdpi: 72scaling: 100%In DITA, I haven't used any scaling attributes (@scale, @scalefit, @outputclass...).When I import these graphics into a new FrameMaker file, the size is as followsImage 1 (large size):width: 560.0mmheight: 396,001 mmdpi: 72scaling: 100%Image 2:width: 207,496  mmheight: 191,763 mmdpi: 72scaling: 100%When I import the graphics at 90 dpi, they have approximately the same size as their original size in Inkscape.Does anyone have any idea why the large image is scaled 50% in the FrameM

Various text is conditionalized, and some entire chapters are conditionalized according to software version.When I am working in one book file with all files set to display one condition tag, and update that book, broken cross-reference errors are logged. When I click on the error in the error log, nothing appears in the related chapter. I understand that the error is hidden in conditional text that is currently not displayed, so I use Display All to see all conditionalized text. When I next update

I had a huge FM 2015 file on which i was working. I also had FM2017 on my system and by mistake i opened the FM2015 files using 2017 and i am unable to revert it now. Kindly help.

I have a nested book (a book of books) where each sub-book is a chapter.  Each chapter has its own TOC at the beginning.  Everything is fine when looking at each individual chapter *.book file.  However, when I export the top level book to PDF it just omits all of the TOCs.  How do I get the TOCs from each sub-book to show up in the PDF?

I have 50 out of print books that were created in FrameMaker 7.0. Will the current version read these files? Can they be converted into InDesign? Can I at least copy the text from the old FrameMaker files and paste it into InDesign?

I have FrameMaker12 and recently was given a new laptop at work. The laptop runs Windows 10. When I open FrameMaker12 the text and menus are too small to see. I am unable to use FrameMaker. What can I do?

Frame in TCS 2015 has recently stopped printing to PDF on my home machine.  I've just reinstalled Acrobat DC Pro (from my work Creative Cloud account) to no avail.  And it has continued to work with Word and InDesign without issue.  Using Windows 10 on 64-bit.I've made no known changes recently, and don't have this issue on my install in the office.I've searched the forum and the answer from about 2012 mentions file paths to Acrobat 10.0 that don't exist any more.I suffered the same or similar issue a few years ago - perhaps with TCS v5 - when I had to print to a .ps file and then convert it.  But I can't do this either now.When I try File > Print, rather than Save as PDF I get an error message that says:'Cannot print because the selected default printer [ which is Adobe PDF ] is not compatible with FrameMaker. (Cannot query escape 768.)'Any thoughts?Many thanks,Ant

Hi,When I try to insert a character from the Character Palette in FrameMaker 2017 all I get is a question mark. I have tried changing the font in the palette box, but I still get a question mark. What do I need to do to fix this problem?Thanks for any help.Cheers,Elizabeth

Framemaker 2017 cannot print pdf due to following error "Cannot print because the selected default printer is not compatible with FrameMaker. (Cannot query escape 768).  My default printer is set as Adobe pdf.  Using Windows 10 Pro version 1803Note: I do not have Acrobat DC or higher installed- only have Acrobat Reader installed, does this make a difference?
