I finally got half of my data formatted into a table in FM. I received the rest of the info that needs to be added to the table. How do I do that without retyping all the rows (600+)?

FM2015,Win7, Newbie to FM.   The requirement is to place a graphic on each odd page with a description/discussion on the facing even page. Anchored frames move the graphics around and graphics anchored to the page won't auto-number in a disconnected text frame.  Tables for the graphic can be set to start at the top of the right page, but the text won't flow back. What am I missing here? What is the quickest, easiest way to accomplish this...I am rapidly getting further behind.

I am using Frame 11 and saving structured book files to SGML to meet the ATA 2200 standard.I have successfully converted several books but have not been able to map the graphic elements.I would like to have a list of all the graphic images at the start of the SGML book.I believe that this will require an Entity location to be specified in the Structured applications definition as well as a rule that points to the entity with the graphic's unique identifier, in this case a gnbr entity.Can anyone help with the syntax for the entity location and the rule that points to it?

S1000D XML will not allow straddled columns in a table.  Does anybody know how to override this.  We need straddled columns.

Hello, I'm a subscriber and have recently installed FM 2015, but I get the message To execute "Save as PDF" command you must have Acrobat Distiller version 5.05 or higher installed". FM can't find the app altho' it's supposed to install with the package at subscription...Do you know what to do?Thanks

Dear Experts,I have an FM Document which contains lot of tables. How to set the Row Format and Columns Resize for all tables in the document. When i update the Font Style and Text Size in some cases the Table is becoming too small. So is there any way yo Resize Row & Columns so that it automatically adjust to the text size. I found 2 options in the FM but how to set this for the whole tables in the document is what i am facing issue now. Please guide me on this.          With RegardsAghil.M

I cannot find a method in the framemaker scripting guide for the Table > Convert to Paragraphs command.I found a suspicious Fcode command: FCodes.KBD_TABLE_CONVERT. Not so great. I  neither like Fcodes, nor do think this would do what I want.Advice?Thanks,Jason

We have been creating documents under Dita 1.2 in FrameMaker and running ant to convert them to html files to create webhelp. I want to update to dita 1.3 as I want to use ResponsiveHTML5 help. But when I generate the help, any topics created with the Dita 1.3 setting in FrameMaker do not appear in my help output.What am I missing?

I‘ve just switched from FM2015 to FM2017 and I work with DITA.Since I‘m using FM2017 I’ve got problems with inserting graphics. To insert graphics I proceed as follows:inserting <image>  --> the window insert element openschoosing a graphic (HRef) in the file systeminserting the graphic in its original resolution       It‘s the same way as I did in FM2015. In FM2015 the graphics always were inserted in their original size.In FM2017 the result is as follows:          The graphics are inserted in their original size           When I save and close the topic and open it again, the graphic is scaled to the width of the type areaWhat’s wrong?Is there any default setting which scales graphics always to the width of the type area?

I have a set of documents in fm created in version 2015 by various authors.I will be updating them in Framemaker version 2017.Will there be compatibility/output issues when generating a PDF?Any suggestions if I should go with Framemaker 2017 or install Framemaker 2015 to update the sources?

Hi Guys,I have a book that is set to A4 pages using FM 2014. I need to insert two A3 figures at the end of the document. I know how to do this in FM 7.1 but I am treed with 2014 as I cannot see the catalogues to make an A3 reference (?) page and separate document holding the figures. Ideally, I would like to have both the A3 and A4 pages in the one document but so far all I can do is change ALL pages to A3 portrait. Frustrating? you bet.Any help would be great.RegardsPaul

Changed a template for a book and now it takes FOREVER to create a PDF. I checked the PDF settings - no bookmarks are created apart from the main elements, no tagged PDF is created. Still, I can see that FM is creating an almost 2 GByte tps file for a book that is just over 5 MBytes, and taking an enormous amount of time to do it. Another version of the same book was done in seconds.What am I missing here ? What should I look for in what part of the document settings ?Thanks for any useful pointers

Hi,I made a book in FrameMaker 11. Just 20 pages. Only 5 files in in. Can I convert this book to RST, somehow? We have a platform that only supports RST. Converting from PDF may be another option, but that will need much manual work, I guess. Regards,Sabya

Hi 🙂I've searched through the messages but none seem to apply. I'm using FrameMaker 9.0p255 and FrameScript 6.0R1p70 on Windows 10.I have three scripts that were provided to me. Two of the scripts are working fine, but the third script freezes Frame 9. This script does three things: it converts the .fm files in a folder to .mif, it preprocesses TopicAlias and TokenAlias markers for preparation for DITA conversion, and it creates a file that lists all text variables in the book. The file was working fine yesterday afternoon (and has been working since I first installed FrameScript in February).I've deactivated and re-activated FrameScript. I've verified that all updates have been installed. I've disconnected and reconnected to the network. My last restore point is from July 5. I don't know what else to check, and I don't know why this specific file suddenly stopped working.(One of my teammates is having the exact same issue. I have filed bug FRMAKER-3122 regarding saving structured documents that contain system variables as XML. FM's default behavior is to generate an entity reference to a new entity it declares. The entity's name is fm.xxx, where xxx is an abbreviation of the variable name and the entity's replacement text is the text displayed for the variable. Is it possible to remove data from cells depending on the content of the neighbouring cells of a Framemaker table?Below is a very basic example of the predicament I have. I have hundreds of tables that I need to edit. They contain data in rows of two as below, and are separated by a black row between each pair. The top row always has four variations but for the sake of simplicity in this example it can be either "1" or "2", 2 variations. I want to know if its possible to write a script that will allow me to remove "A" from the cells that have a "2" in the neighbouring cells (immediately above) and retain "A" in all cells with a "1" immediately above. Me again, with another question about HTML5 output, mostly unrelated to my question about strange headers, hence the new post. By exporting our HTML5 directly from our ditamap, we were able to circumvent the header problem (where the chapter output template would grab a weird header and then use it as a title for every section of the HTML5 output). Since it gives us the option to apply a ditaval in the publish panel, I figure this is an intended workflow.Now with graphics, however, the publish operation does not convert our .ai files to .png. It keeps the path to our original .ai files and they don't display. Why won't it convert the graphics? Any way to get it to do so? Do I have to use svg graphics if I want to keep using vector formats for my graphics so they'll work in browsers? I see that there is an "SVG to raster" option in the settings, but I'm not using SVG in the first place.

Running FrameMaker2017 on a Win 7 Service Pack 1 Desktop PC, I tried Publishing for Mobile Document (Android) Output - FM2017 fails when generating Mobile app output and uploading it to the Phone Gap Build server (my Phone Gap Build account is validated); I reported this issue to Adobe Technical Support, who tested the Publish to Mobile app feature on THEIR system and got the same result; I am awaiting their response. As an alternative, I ran FM2017 on a Win 10 Enterprise laptop & tried generating Mobile app output of Adobe’s included sample Personal Spaceship book for Android. Responsive HTML5 output was perfect, but again, FM2017 runs remarkably slowly without fully generating Mobile app output and uploading it to the Phone Gap Build Server. I also tried running FM2015 on a Win 10 Enterprise laptop & publishing the same project to Mobile App output, which caused FM2015 to crash twice. Lately FM12 has started losing Ctrl key and only quitting and restarting FM cures it. Other apps remain normal with respect to keystrokes. I've changed the keyboard batteries but have no other ideas.

Using Frame 10 on Win 7 ProI am trying to change the font and color for a few paragraph tags with Paragraph Designer.Most of the paragraphs change OK when I click Update All, but there are odd paras that don't change with the rest. For example, trying to apply changes to Table Text will change some cells but not others even in the same table. I find that rather impossible to believe.Similarly, for some of my numbered lists the change affects the actual number digit correctly (tested by changing color parameter), but the text retains the old font and colorI can change the offending tags outside of the Para designer, but I suspect they will just revert to the old style if I close and reopen the chapter.Any help please?ThanksPhil
