FrameMaker

This might be a silly question but I can't seem to find the right words to search for the answer. What kind of file is the blue "M"?  

I am running FrameMaker Version: 17.0.0.226 on Win11 and a really annoying problem has appeared. The PDF printer instance keeps disappearing and provokes this message: Each time I reinstall Acrobat from the installation package, but half an hour later it is gone again. What happens and where it goes to, I can´t figure out. Any suggestions?... Best regards Bjørn  

Hello, I have created two paragraph style :- Test P1 (for Chapter 1, Chapter 2, etc ...)- Test P2 (for 1.1 ,  1.2  , etc ...)And I have created a Mini TOC with :- Test P1- Test P2- Hypertext link is checked  But here is the result : - FM add a number "1" at the begining of the MTOC-  FM add a number "1" at the end of each line- I have no hyperlink inside the MTOC  And here is what I have in page reference : Why do I have this result ? 

Hi there, As per the technical writing established practices, the caption of a figure and a figure must be on the same page.After publishing in Adobe FM, We have a customer’s complain about cross referenced images and their captions not being on the same page. I am running Structured FM ver 17.04.628.I have assembled a pdf file showing this not happening after using crossreferenced images – see Test_crossref_2.pdf, Chapter 2 (attached). The file with the detailed explanation is attached – see file Captions_dont_go_on the same Page_as images.pdf. I have all files compressed in a .7z file but this format of file is not supported. Xml files are also not supported. Upon request, I will send all missing files in an email. The list of the files needed is shown  below. I was wondering if someone run in a similar situation, and if yes, what was the solution. Thanks a lot, Zornitza Doneva,Toronto, Canada

Hello Adobe Community, I am facing the error of font for "DIgitFonteN with letters V, W and K, so when i entered these letters with DIgitFoneN suddnely these get convert into question mark (?) attached the snap. Could you have a solution for it to integrate these letters and fulfil the docs requirements. ThanksShiddalingeshwar 

This should be simple, but it doesn't seem to be ... I needed to add a O-Slash and a Delta Character in my FrameMaker Document. I found https://www.daube.ch/docu/fm-documentation/FM/fm08-Character_Sets.pdf and Ctrl-Q/ works great for the O-Slash. For the Delta, it says I should be able to use the left Alt Key and 0394 on the numpad, but that gives me a capital S with a triangle above it. Or I should be able to do it with Alt 2206, but that gives me "Pts". Or - https://www.ascii-code.com/ISO-8859-7/196 - Says I should be able to do it with Alt-196, but that gives me a long dash. Alt-0196 gives me a Capital A.I was able to get it by clicking (FM 15), Insert>Equations (brings up the equations palette), selecting New Small Equation from the drop-down, clicking in the box, clicking the Delta Symbol, enlarging the font to be close (12-pt seems to match 10-pnt), and selecting shrink-wrap Equation from the drop-down. It works, but I would prefer havin

So, the rest of my TOC is correct except for these two entries. I included a screenshot of the TOC lines with the header numbering and the page number as well as where it is in the book and the heading number that applies there with the page number from that page. I am trying to fix the last image with the green highlights. The TOC is saying the heading is only 7.3 instead of 7.3.1.1.1 and that the page number is 26 instead of 7.3-26. I asked the senior TW at my job and they were not sure what the issue was. Anyone have any info how to help with this?  

Hello,I know how to make a TOC in FrameMaker unstructured. But when FM creates the TOC, there is no Hyperlink for each line in the TOC. How to make a TOC that could automatically add the hyperlinks for each line ? My goal is that when someone click on by example "chapter 1" in the TOC, it goes directly on "chapter 1"  inside FM file, and also inside the exported PDF.

Hi,   Today FrameMaker crashed, when I wanted to open a file. When i sent the dmp and meta.txt file and and the FrameMaker file to fmerror@adobe.com, I got a message back that the address fmerror was not found at adobe.com. Is this e-mail address fmerror@adobe.com permanently closed? Should we now send all these files to tcssup@adobe.com?   By the way, after a restart I could open my file without any problems.   Best regards, Winfried

So, I inherited a file that basically has a List of Pages and List of Tables on the first page.   You can see here that there is a chapter title, a section listing the sections, and a section listing the tables within that section.The person who had this file before me had this section set up as a text inset, but now it doesn't seem to be working. I originally started out by making a mini-TOC to replace the section, but then I realized you can't have two mini-TOC's in the same file.  I know you can create a List of Pages and List of Tables, but those create stand alone files and won't appear at the top of the first page as before.  Is there an easy way to rectify this? Thanks.

Hello, I am using framemaker 12. Can I put 2 separate page number counters on one page? One of them will be used as the normal book page number, the other will be used as the relevant section page number. Can you help me with this?

I need your help please! i created a Book with five books, but when i try to create a General TOC (each book has a TOC inside) the numbering fails, I need that the General TOC take the numbering from the inside of the Books. it is possible?  the correct numbering must be A1, A1.1, A1.2, A1.3 , B1, B1.1, B1.2, etc

Hello, everyone!  I'm having trouble setting the zoom level in my new installation of FrameMaker. Here's what the window looks like with content blurred: Hopefully you can see that the scroll bar is all the way over to the right, and I haven't been able to dock the tools widgets. Can someone remind me how to change the window size so the scroll bar is with the content? And then how to dock the widgets to the right of the correctly-sized window?  I have tried Fit Window to Page, but the document window is un-docked from the tabs at the top of the FM window. I hope all this makes sense... Thank you!Cindy 

Hi, I am using Sharepoint CMS with FrameMaker 2022. When I try to open a topic (Checkout and Edit) that contains around 17 insets, it doesn't open even after around an hour or so.  I tried to observe the local CMS files folder during the process and it seems it does check all inset files in the topic.  The strange thing is that it opens on my colleague's laptop.  Any idea what can be the issue? 

Hi, We are using Adobe FrameMaker 2015 for some of our legacy projects; it has been working fine thus far, but we are encountering issues installing it. During the initial steps of the installation, it asks for our credentials for adobe.com. When we enter after a period of time, it refuses to accept. I completed the installation with the acceptance of my license key, and without login, I get caught again with the same issue when I do the patch update (Help > Updates). I had tried with Windows 10, Windows 11, and Windows Server 2012 R2 in India and the USA. Any solution to having a successful FrameMaker will be a great help. I have attached a few screenshots for reference. Regards,Arul Kumar   

 I'm finding that if i have a table anchor on a line of body text, the text switches to Times New Roman, rather than the specified Arial in the HTML5 output. If I put a return in and have the table anchor on a blank line, the problem goes away. As far as I can tell, everything is assigned Arial so I can't work out what's causing this. Is my only fix to have all table anchors on their own para?

FM changes the conditional tags on imported files the next time I open the target file after import. The result is a conditional filter that lets conditional text slip through to the generated PDF, though it shouldn't have been there. I can change the setting back, but FM refuses to keep it.       

 The attached images show the different results I get in the Responsive HTML5 output when (all other things remaining the same) I set the cellbody size to 9 pts via either the FM paragraph designer (correct looking image on the left), or via editing the cellbody font size to 9 pts (down from 12 pts) when in the Publish Settings window and selecting Edit Style to decrease the cellbody font size. . Ideally I'd like to decrease the assigned font size in the HTML output (compared to the PDF output), but this issue in the cells is causing me grief. The table has the default cell padding values assigned in the Table Designer (6pt, 6pt, 4pt, 6pt) and I can't decrease these as it messes up the look of the tables in the PDF output. Can anyone shed any light on why this is happening and whether there's a fix or a work around? In all of my books that have a MTOC and Chapter TOCs, clicking on one of the MTOC links takes me to the first page of the chapter. I would rather be taken to the first page of the chapter TOC, but I can't figure out where to change that information. This is my TOC reference table: Appreciate any help!

Hello,I am trying to import a PDF inside a FM document (landscape mode because my PDF is also landscape).But the result : I can see the PDF inside the FM document (File/Import/File), but if I do "File/Save as PDF", I have an error message saying me "PDF generation failed". Why ?

I've been using TCS2015 - FrameMaker on the same machine with Windows 10 since it was purchased as a perpetual license. Now when I launch FrameMaker, a Sign In dialog pops upI log inA trial/license dialog pops upI enter the license codethen the Sign In dialog pops up again and the cycle repeats. I tried re-installing. Furthermore, when I go to the support page, the AI assistant says I do not have an active account, but I do with the current Creative Suite, and I can see my apps listed on the support page. Is there any knowledge on how to fix FrameMaker? Thanks

My heading refers to Solved: Empty pages keep returning FM 2017 - Adobe Community - 9987986.  FM changes the pagination properties for two out of 16 files in the book and adds empty pages. I have changed the setting manually, but FM changes it back each time I update the book.I want all chapters to start on the next empty page. My setting:  FM's setting after book update:  I apply the desired setting with all files in the book selected before updating it. I have followed Adobe FrameMaker: Deleting Empty Pages – Rocky Mountain Training but the problem persists. The "next available"-setting does not solve the problem.

FM inserts full stops after note numbers 2 and 3 in the last two columns and after the numbers in all three notes beneath the table. Why?The table is placed in a separate file. When I open that file, there are no full stops.The paragraph style has the format Numeric (14) as numbering properties in the file with the table and in the file in which it is embedded.
