FrameMaker

Hi,When I save a document as a PDF using the "Save As" and selecting PDF doc type (Not using the "Save as PDF" menu item. I haven't tried this yet), I get some photos that are cut up with white strips as if several small white boxes were placed across the graphic. The graphics print fine from the Frame Maker doc and appear fine on screen. Another company we are working with is having the same problem.See the second graphic in the illustration Below - The stripped graphic is anchored to the second Caution. This is a screen shot of a PDF saved from a Frame Maker Doc.It almost appears as if the "Caution" or "Warning"  frame from the reference page is covering the graphic, but I checked and the frames are only about 1/3 to 1/2 the width of the text column.I tried to "bring" the graphic to the front but it had no affect.Has anyone seen this before?

Can FM12 be installed by batch including entering license key? My supervisor does not want to issue the single license key to all users, so a single account is used to login to Adobe and activate the license. Can the Adobe account be a generic corporate account not associated with an individual? E.g., corporate_user@corporation.com.Also, how can I contact Adobe on an issue like this? The chat is never open, there doesn't appear to be an email contact.

Hi,I have a book with 3 files, the first file is meant to be front matter, and the other 2 files are Chapters. I am using the page numbering convention Page # of #.Right now my front matter file is 2 pages, Chapter 1 is 2 pages, and Chapter 2 is 3 pages. I have set the page numbering as 1 for the front file, and the 2 chapters are set up to continue numbering from previous page, however the last page for each file is currently showing:Front Matter: Page 2 of 2Chapter 1: Page 4 of 4Chapter 2: Page 7 of 7How can I fix this?Thanks!

Function window (i.e., print, save) open over sized so cannot select final options (i.e., save, cancel, print) at bottom of windows in FM12 structured.   How can reduce the view inside the window to allow my entry? See bottom of images for example of missing final options buttons for each window.

When I generate a TOC, it comes out beautifully. However, when I press control + alt to check my links, I receive a "cannot find the file named" error message. This happens for the majority of the links. All of the files are present along with the graphics. Everything is in the same folder. They are saved on our network. However, I have packaged and copied the files to my desktop to see if that makes a difference. I am still receiving the same error message.Has anyone seen this before? Any solutions in Adobe world? All help is appreciated.Salome

i want to rename frame maker files both on book and disk but frame gives me a message that it will move the renamed file on the disc and looses cross, hypertext links and other informations, so i end up giving them all again a new path,is there something i can do??

I installed a trial version of FrameMaker 10.  The installation appears to be correct, but I receive a pop-up box with the following text. "License Expired"  "Licensing for this product has expired"  The "Adobe FrameMaker 10 Trial" popup box is fine with 30 days remaining.

I am using FM 11 structured mode. I wonder if there is any easy way to manage our abbreviations in our manuals. We have an abbreviation and glossary bank. I hope in my development, when I enter an abbreviation in the fm file, it can automatically pop-up the full name in our bank and give it an cross-reference. Can this work out?Our current working mode is like this. Since we have no CMS, we have made a bank of abbreviation in an .fm file (using structure mode and some tags which are customized), and when we have developed a certain manual, we first add the fm file into the book, manully delete all the abbreviations those are not used in this manual, and then manually make cross reference to the bank file. It is killing.

When I go from "show certain conditions" to "show all" in some, but not all, files in a book, FM 10 crashes.I've tried saving as MIF, then reopening, but it still happens eventually.Sometimes it happens with the first file I open, sometimes not until after several files have been opened and had their conditions changed, so it doesn't seem like a memory leak.

I am eager to learn but failed to find the answer. If anyone can tell me, I'd like to thank him.

My requirement is quite basic and common. I am looing for a CMS to manage the books, fm files, dita files, pictures and glossaries and the publication, is there any recommendation? The cheaper the better.BTW, I received the advertisement from Adobe for its Creative Cloud, can this work as a CMS? Anyone using it?

I've searched high and low and came to the conclusion that objects created in Photoshop or other programs that have transparent backgrounds don't maintain their transparency in FrameMaker. FrameMaker just turns the background white. Here is a link discussing this issue on another FrameMaker forum. Link: Transparency in FrameMaker 11. I've done all the things that the poster in that forum has done. I would definitely like to see this feature in FrameMaker 13.Thank you!

I would like to see the archive extendscript added instead of having to load it in.  This is the one created by Bruce Foster. I think it is a useful feature to have, especially when moving content (files and graphics) from one location to another. If you just copy/paste then links to referenced graphics gets broken. (FM12)Apparently one cannot change the sequence in which colors appear in a list?To attempt to move colors that I had created, I edited the MIF to move their statements to near the top of the color catalog.Result: No discernible change.What am I missing -- other than realistic expectations. I need to upgrade my Acrobat from Acrobat X to Acrobat XI to accommodate Office 2013.  Will Framemaker 10 work with Acrobat XI, or does it need to be upgraded as well? 

I want to make my cross-references Blue and I've added Blue as a character tag but the XRef appears invisible in my document, what am I doing wrong? Using Framemaker 12.

What is the best way to set up a 2 color job in Framemaker 10 so that it converts to a 2 color job in the PDF? We have black with a blue PMS 280U book. However, if I select PMS 289U as my 2nd color in FM it outputs to PDF as the various CMYK percentages. How do I get the PDF to be black plus one color? Thanks for the help.

Hello,I have just tested the ImportExportVariables which is going to be very usefull for large books where we want to make a selective import of the variables (on a given file of the book, only import the variables that are useful for this particular file).I would like to do the same thing for the condition tags Show/hide settings. Be able to import only the Condition Tags (and their show/hide settings) that are usefull for a particular file of a book instead of propagating all the condition tags to all the files.Is there a Extend script for that or could you give indications for modifying the ImportExport variable to make it support condition tags as well?Cheers,Bruno[Thread moved to scripting section by moderator]

How to delete "Note Box" in Adobe Framemaker 9 document (master page/body page)?

When I started up my Frame 9 copy, the splash screen displays a "Limited Period Offer" of 40% off to buy FM 12. Is there any way to easily port legacy framemaker documents from equations to MathML? The reason I ask is because Framemaker equations appear as gifs in Epub, and the MathML format would look much better. Re-entering all the equations would be a bit of work, however. thanks!
