Hello, I am currently trying out FrameMaker 12, in particular its ability to publish directly to HTML Help.I cannot seem to get the Glossary feature to do anything at all. I have added "GlossaryTerm" markers to a few words in my Frame source, and added a glossary entry to the Marker Text.In the Publish dialog, I've selected HTML Help, clicked Edit Settings, and in the Publish Settings dialog, I've selected the Style Mapping tab > Other Settings, and in the Glossary panel, I've made sure that the Marker Type is set to "GlossaryTerm" and I've tried all the Style options (Hyperlink, Tooltip, Popup, etc...) But when I generate my HTML Help, I don't see anything happening for the words I've added GlossaryTerm markers too. No hyperlinks, tooltips, popups or anything.Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong?I know there was a bug about this in the initial Frame 12 release, but the evaluation copy I'm running is Frame 12.0.1.331.

(FM12 on Win7)When attempted to update the book, clicking the icon or using Edit > Update book, the dialog box does not appear but FM responds as if it has appeared.If I click anywhere on the FM interface, the Win7 sounds tells me that I clicked in a wrong place.If I press Escape, focus returns to the book.Under Edit > Preferences > Global > Interface, all of the Pods option boxes are clear.What next?

Hi All,I've been using DITA OT to create online help up until now. Now I would lie to try the WebHelp that FM12 enables me to produce from a DITA map (I mean the one that is available through File > Publish menu). So my initial questions are:1. How can I customize the output (layout, formatting, colors, etc.)2. How can I produce a context-sensitive help with the FM WebHelp?Thank you very much,Alex

I have about 10  table styles in a document and I want to replace all of them with the #1 table style. Can this be done with Find and Replace?

Is there a way to print out, for example, all the paragraph format with their formatting details? I'd like the same for character formats, conditional text etc.?I'm a long time FrameMaker use and have built numerous templates over the years. The one thing I always found missing was the ability to printout a list of the various formats so that you can review them (much more easily one at a time on screen) to make sure they all have the correct settings. MS Word, back in the DOS days, had this capability and it was fast and efficient way of double checking all the formatting.Does this functionality exist in FrameMaker? Or are there any utilities out there that would do this?Thanks,Inge

I imported a .tif file by reference as I've done hundreds of times before with .jpg. It looks like it imports, but all I see on my page is a white square. However, I  can resize the image by scaling it (i.e. it looks a graphics is there) but I cannot see the actual image; nor does it appear when I create a PDF of the file.Any clues or suggestions are appreciated.

When I downloaded the FrameMaker12 trial. I was provided with three choices. What is the difference? I do not know which to download. Thanks

… that is, everything was fine yesterday and then this morning it isn't: selecting File > Save as .pdf gets me a second or so of "busy" cursor and then nothing. No Distiller opening up in the tray, and no output .pdffwiw, Print to .pdf worked fine.How can I start diagnosing the problem? FM 10.0.2.419, Acrobat X Pro 10.1.2

is it possible to increment a non sequential series in page numbering eg 1, 1A - 2, 2A etc on odd and even pages?

Hi allMy colleague has seen some strange behaviour within a book file.He wanted to standardise the conditions within a book, without going into each file individually.He saved the book file as a MIF, used a text editor to remove the unwanted condition tags from the ConditionCatalog in the MIF file, then saved.Opened the MIF file in Framemaker (12) and saved as a book file.When he scrolled through the files in the book window, without actually opening them, the conditions listed (for both the MIF and the book file) were correct.However, when he actually opens individual files, all the unwanted conditions are back again in the Show/Hide Conditional Text pane.Does MIF washing not work for conditions? I was under the impression it did/should but it seems not to!Is this a bug or am I deluded?! 🙂Thanks in advanceLaura

Im currently using FrameMaker 7.0 and im currently experiencing a issue when saving a imported graphic. A error message is displayed stating "An internal error occurred while imported graphics in this document.  The file has been saved, but has lost some image data.  Please report this error to Adobe Technical Support."  Can anyone help with this issue, thanks.

How Can I install Framemaker 10 silently with serial key and license updater? I am doing some cleanup before exporting and I don't know much about FrameMaker....I want to replace the paragraph format ABC with XYZ in every page, how would I do this?  I  also have a paragraph format I want to delete and make it just a Normal paragraph  in every page, I image it will be the same process as 1?Your help is appreciated

Hello - (This was cross-posted two days ago in the Acrobat forum)We're running into some unpredictable problems when converting a structured (non-XML) FrameMaker file to PDF. Our images are created in Illustrator (CC), and inserted into FrameMaker (12) as a linked file. In Frame, the illustrations look perfectly fine. On export to PDF (Acrobat XI), whether "Save as PDF", "Print" to postscript, or "Print" directly to PDF, some illustrations show up "fuzzy" on the screen. It's not the entire graphic, but seemingly random sections of the illustrations that are pixelated. The illustrations are layered, vector, non-outlined .AI files. When printed from the PDF output, the "fuzzy" sections are clear.   Adobe PDF settings (in Distiller XI) are optimized for online viewing.If a problematic illustration is opened in Illustrator, the section that is pixelated in the PDF don't exist as overlays or layers in the AI file. Hi,I can use Framemaker at intermediate level but know nothing about DITA and XML authoring. If I want to learn DITA and XML authorin, where should be I getting started? Any good suggestions? Besides, I know nothing about coding or programming.The easy and quick way is to find someone good at this to teach me but hard luck, there is no trainer and no certified training center for FM in my country. I am located in Taiwan. It seems I have to learn it myself.Thanks for any input.

I am not all that familiar with FrameMaker but I am needing to zip the book file so that I can send it attached to an email. I run FrameMaker 7.1. Will the person that I am sending this to be able to open the file and change it?

Using FrameMaker 12 I created a document with two paragraphs of text.Then I assigned  DropDownCaption to first line of text.Next assigned DropDownBody to the second paragraph (exactly as described in Help).When I output this using Publish -> Web help it works as it should; that is, you click first line and the hidden paragraph that follows appears.Now, in my source I add a table and assign exactly as above DropDownCaption and DropDownBody to same two paragraphs of text in one of the table cells.When I update the Web help, the drop down text in table does not work. Instead both Caption and Body show; when the Caption is clicked the heading 'jumps' a little. (Have also tried from Robohelp importing the framemaker document but same problem.)I have not seen any postings anywhere with this problem, most likely because few people are using this function in a table.Appreciate any help.

I am trying to update a .book file in order to regenerate a new TOC for the TM we are working, as there are areas that have been updated, but for some reason this machine gets to a certain point and then hangs up and I get a Framemaker not responding and then it just quits and doesn't complete the task at hand. Anyone else seeing this issue or know a way to get around it. We are using FrameMaker 12 on Dell Laptops running 8MB of RAM with 64bit OS's with Windows 7 Professional.

Is it possible to rearrange the tags in the Conditional Text pod so that they are alphabetized?
