FrameMaker

My client is a government agency that does not have FrameMaker (I use FM 10). So I sent them a PDF, which they promptly marked up...all 10 of them!So my question is whether I can somehow get those changes back into FrameMaker without going through each one individually.I am on Windows, using FrameMaker 10, Acrobat XI Professional.I'm pretty sure I know the answer :-(.Thanks in advance for helping.Cindy in Durango

I'm publishing a book into Amazon's Kindle format, mobi, and was hoping someone knows how to inherit existing FM page breaks, or to force it by adding it to a FM para tag or other FM code.The front matter of the book is in a single file with page breaks, but the Publish option is removing the breaks. Why does FrameMaker 11 claim that it cannot open a file due to missing fonts when in fact no fonts are missing? I have repaired this problem with numerous files, replacing the missing fonts, but Frame is proving recalcitrant with one file in particular.

Is anyone using this combination? I'm really just looking for info on whether SP 12 will work as CMS with FM 12 at all.

Hello again,How do I get to an element from a text location ? As my document is structured I am always in an element, but there does not seem to be a way to get there easily. I tried doc.ElementSelection but that just gives me ivalid elements.Thanks for any pointer in the right directionJang

TCS 4, RoboHelp 10, Win7: The WebHelp TOC, index, and glossary do not display any entries, even after downloading IE11Fix_RH10.zip and placing the 2 JS files in \RoboHTML\WebHelp5Ext\template_stock. What else do I need to do to display  WebHelp TOC, index, and glossary in Internet Explorer 11? Chrome and Firefox display correctly.

I'm trying to add a hyperlink to a FM file that will open a PDF to a specified phrase.I've successfully added #page=x (x=desired page number) to open a PDF to a sepcific page number, but I'm unable to open a PDF to a desired word or phrase via an external hyperlink. I've tried the comment command to no avail.Any thoughts?

I'm using Frame 9 and a PC running Windows7. When I've got a book with several chapters open with their tabs showing across the Frame window and use the Ctrl key and the mouse scroll wheel to zoom in and out (a feature I love to use), quite often the chapter I'm viewing will be pulled out of the tabbed list and put over the top of all else in the book.Does anyone else have this problem and is there a fix. I've searched and searched all the forums but find no one else mentioning this problem.Thanks.

I create a lot of pdf's from books. Mainly the book files consists of pages with pdf files referenced in. The pdf's are big even though they have been saved as optimised. I use the function "print to pdf" and it works fine. But very slow. I suspect it is slow because the pdf graphics are complicated cad drawings. I really really wish there was a way to make Framemaker use the computers full power. There are 8 kernels and heaps of ram, but it seems the printing process can only run on one processor. Is it not possible to use some "magic" and make the printing process faster?regardsBjørn

Hello everyone,I've got the following problem:A customer has updated his PC to Windows 7. So he reinstalled FM12 on his new system. After that he wanted to install his fonts he had before on his old pc. I dont know how I could help him, so I would appreciate all help I can get.He told me that there are pretty much *.pfb and *.pss files. I have absolutly no idea how those fonts can be imported.Are those files the correct ones? Or does the font files have other endings?Thank you so much for helping! I am using prefix and suffix rules in my EDD to make things easier for the author (and standardize some headings and parts of names). Now I need to write the content into XML and my prefixes and suffixes do not get pushed into the content on the XML side. I do not find any reference to prefix and suffix in the read-write rules. Is there a way to let FM write the prefixes into either an attribute or the content of an element when writing to XML? I am not interested in round-tripping here, so even if the method is more or less destructive, I would be more than happy to know about it. The only other option I see is adding more work to the extendscript that I am using to prepare the materials for writing to XML.ThanksJang

Hi, I created a stop motion AVI file which I imported into Sony Vegas and then exported into PhotoShop. When I export from Sony Vegas into photo shop, thses black letter box edges appear on the video file, as seen on the lefthand image. If anyone could tell me what they are and how to get rid of them, I'd be very grateful. Thanks,Chris

I am trying to save a book in Framemaker to a PDF file using "Save book As". The process runs to a point and then stops and gives me an error message. The message says "When you create a PostScript file you must rely on system fonts and use document fonts. Please go to the printer properties, "Adobe PDF settings" page and turn OFF the option "Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts." I have tried this a million time with all sorts of variations and I cannot get the tool too create the pdf. I am using Windows 7 and Frame 7.2. I was running Windows XP up until 3 months ago and never had a prioblem. Now I cannot make any PDF files from Framemaker using the "Save book as" feature. Anybody have any advice?

Does Adobe offer product demonstrations for prospective buyers?  I work with a small team writing policies and procedures for a much larger and complex group, and we're exploring more efficient tools for document creation, and management.  Currently we're using Word, and whenever a large change takes place in the industry, we're forced to update multiple documents which contain overlapping information.  We've got no prior experience using technical writing software, and we'd like a demonstration of the capabilities of FrameMaker, and, in particular, it's single-source publishing functionality.

I have a source doc from which I am going to generate two user guides (I am new at this). I have two conditional tags set, which I plan to show/hide as required to generate the final PDFs.First snag: I have a products specification table, which is different for each guide. Using auto numbers, I have created the first table (1-1). Then I add the second table (prod specs for the other product). It of course shows up as table 1-2 (and all sequential tables will be misnumbered). Using the Show/Hide command, I see the correct table. How do I get correct sequential table numbers for each end document?Thanks very much.

I am working on FrameMaker 11. How do I get my Table of Contents (TOC) to show the Chapter number and chapter title on one line. My Chapters titles have the chapter number and chapter title on two lines, both centered at the top of a new page. I would like my TOC to pick up the Chapter number and Chapter name on one line not two. Thanks.
