FrameMaker

Dear wise women and men: My script FMfindReplace opens a palette wPalF via menu or short cut. The scipt is started either via the Script Library or by placing it in the Statup folder. I have several documents open and invoke the script via ESC q f It works as intended on document A, Notify reacts and does was it should, all OK I close the palette via the Exit button top right or via the button OK/Done Now I switch to another document B and the palette re-appears! Console log (see Notify hereafter): wPalF.active = true I close the palette and give focus to another application (test editor) and then come back to the document B Now the palette is really gone and for further work with it I invoke it with the short cut... (Console log: wPalF.active = false). I do not understand why the palette re-appears in step 4. I have not observed such behaviour in any other of my scripts with palettes... I recently updated my TCS version to 2020. When I edit my documents in FrameMaker, everything looks perfectly normal, but once I generate a PDF, the second level bullets look like å. I went through similar topics on the forum and saw people suggesting converting the font used for that style from ttf to otf - I have been unable to do that (or I haven't figured out how), and also suggesting setting the colors from RGB to CMYK, but it's already set to CMYK for me. Any ideas how to resolve this issue? 

I'm guessing this is a reference page thing...? I've got six different paratags I'm using to generate the TOC, but only want page numbers after my Level1Tag2 items. What's the procedure for that?

HelloI have framemaker files in which image files are embedded by reference via web link.So the reference path has the following form: https://www.xyz.de/xxx/yyy/...The image files are in png or eps format.With FM2019 (structured), this type of reference was not a problem.However, after switching to FM2020, the image files are no longer found under the same conditions (same files, same computer, same operating system, same access rights, etc.).Does anyone have an idea what could be the cause?ThanksStefan

When I click on a document link, it takes me to the specified location. I was wondering if there is a button or way to go back to the original location of the link I clicked on. Thanks!

I can't get FM19 running on my Windows 10 computer today. First I get:   When I click "Sign In Now", I get: I do have the latest Windows 10 updates. I also have the latest versions of Firefox, Chrome and Edge installed.   I've been using FM2019 on this Windows 10 computer for a couple of years. However, occasionally I run FM2019 on another Windows 10 computer (when distance working.) Perhaps the other computer was used the last time I used FM2019. (That computer is completely turned off. And 400 miles away.)   What can I do to run FM2019 today, on this computer?

Thanks to our Frame experts, I've developed a script that finds all occurances of a word or string in a document.  When found, I want to replace the word and display it as a Track Text Edit.  I'm running into two problems.  1) After enabling Track Text Edits and running the script, all change appear as normal text; not Track Text Edits.  2) The beginning offset of the text range is correct, but the doc.Clear and doc.AddText leaves the last character of the found text after the replacement text is added; e.g., foundText = "widge"; replacement = "WIDGE"; result = "WIDGEe".   

I use the Adobe Framemaker using a VM Ware image on my mac. When I open Adobe framemaker, the screen resolution is somehow too small.. This behavior is not seen in other applications.. I tried to find a setting to increase the resolution, but could not find anything.. Have you seen this and can you help me please? (I attached a screenshot).

Does anyone know why, after HTML5 output, my listed numbers are serif but all my text is sans serif? Thanks.

I want to create a list of figures for a book, but I would like to separate the list showing which chapters the figures belong to. Like:Chapter 1   figure 1.1   figure 1.2   figure 1.3Chapter 2   figure 2.1   figure 2.2   etcWhile I can make the List of figures work to my liking, I have trouble figuring out a smart way to add the chapter titles?Can anybody help?

FrameMaker 16.0.4.1062Acrobat Pro DC 2022.002.20191 For accessibility, I've added alternate text to anchored frames that contain images that we import by reference. Our organization's documentation also makes extensive use of icon images for notes, warnings, examples, etc. We define those icon images in our Reference Pages. When I use the File > Publish > PDF option, the process automatically adds "Imported into FrameMaker" as alternate text for all of the icon images from our Reference Pages. So firstly I checked the logs, it said it was not picking up the license, so I needed to sign into my adobe account within the application, I could not do this initially because of error 205, it just kept force quitting the software. I have had an issue like this before and signing in and out usually fixes it in adobe products, but how can I do this if it force quits on opening? Well I found a trick:  Click 'Restore Last Session' button as soon as you open FrameMakerIt ideally should be a fresh install, no sessions on your computer anywhereLeave open the message box and wait for Error 205 message to display, then click OKYou should then get another message box come up saying "Can not Quit" or something like thatNow you should be able to sign in and out of the software and enable the license in the cloud. Other things I did / tried:- Ran the program as administrator- Enabled it in the firewall settings I am not sure if these made a difference or not. A

Hi, I want to delete certain conditional tags for all files in a Book without having to delete the tags file by file.However, I couldn't find an easy batch function in FM interface.With references from other scripts, I wrote this script to delete specified conditional tags in a Book.The script is only available to delete an unused Cond tag you specified, not considering the cases that the tag is used in expressions or applied to the text. Is there a way to easily keep a book in its "older" FM format when editing it with a newer version of FM? This can be done using Save As for each .book and .fm by selecting FM2019 when editing using FM2020, but it looks like the files get upgraded to the newer format when using the standard Save / Save All functions?

Hi once again! I'm using the standalone Index generation, and it's giving me the subtopics nested under the main topics (Topic:subtopic for the markers) but I want the numbers to be a different tag (entires are regular weight, black-colored Arial, and I want the numbers to be bold, red, and italics). Is there a way to force the process to put a return in before the page numbers, or even better to assign them a tag of my choosing during the generation process?

I have set up notifications to determine the switch between book and document for these triggers: 105 FA_Note_PostActiveDocChange   2 FA_Note_PostOpenDoc 77 FA_Note_PostBookComponentOpen 17 FA_Note_PostOpenBook Now, when switching between nothing (aka Welcome screen), book window and document window I get mixed results. Nothing → Book: Notify is triggered by FA_Note_PostOpenBook Nothing → Open document: Notify is triggered by FA_Note_PostOpenDoc and FA_Note_PostActiveDocChange Document → Open Book: Notify is triggered by FA_Note_PostOpenBook Book → Document: Notify triggered by FA_Note_PostActiveDocChange Document → Book: Notify is not triggered. Which constant is required?   Any ideas, how determine whether I have left the document window and entered the book window?   There must be a method. The open FM Find/Change dialog switches from document to book indication when I leave the document window and click into the book window.

In FrameMaker V16.0.4, working on an inherited Bk file from prior writer of 2019. The chapter numbering is suddenly off and I'd like to understand how to Restart or renumber the files so that the Bk chapters, when opened, reflect the chapter number/order. In an answer to a previous question, I saw a screen shot of a graphic with a blue box which could be dragged to a line of text to anchor the frame to the text... but when I have text symbols turned on and every other option I can find turned on, I only see the black box and black corner squares for the graphic frame. How do I get those blue boxes and all the goodies? I'm using FM 16. 

The element boundaries (tags) are not visible in the fm file even after enabling the tags. Is there any specific reason why the tags couldnt be enable
