FrameMaker

"Adobe FrameMaker 11. Classroom in a Book" is sold with a link to lesson files. The link seems to have gone missing since the publication of the book and the publisher seems to have changed. I have had correspondance with both publishers and Adobe support, but so far without luck, even if the book is still selling apparently.Can I be so lucky that somebody out there, has these lesson files?   

I know RoboHelp has a usage report, but I am wondering if there is a graphics report. I would like to know what graphics in the referenced graphics folder are being used and which are not. Thanks!

Hello all,I have a couple of files that I am having issues re: blank pages.I have tried to set pagination to Delete Empty Pages and I have selected "Delete Pages" from the Format-Document menu.  Then when I recompile to book, the empty pages return.Thanks in advance.Regards,Ben

Dear all,During october-novermber I installed Windows 10 in parallel to the existing Windows 7 (dual boot) and discovered some strange things with this OS - although I postponed the transiton some years. I hoped that these faults and annoyances will disappear once I have a single-OS system (Win10 on the first partition replacing the old system). But no...The problem:Save as PDF (in FM-15.0.4.751) is set to use the PDFL. In about 1 of 4 processes to create the PDF of a particular book the last book file is not finished and FM just disappears into the blue without message or dump. I have a bunch of DITA FM2020 documents and for some reason it some of the text turns another font size when being translated. So I have to do a search for all characters in a specific font size.Can that be done?

A strange thing happened to our documents recently. We have an optional Attribute against one of our Elements, with 5 values users can select from. The Attribue value drives context formatting rules. We use a master document to import (File > Import > Formats) generic settings, selecting all options except Filter by Attribute Settings, Variable Definitions and Conditional Text Settings. After a recent import, all instances of the above Attribute was changed to the a specific value. The value they were changed to is the second last in the available options and not the default.  (We now have the joyous task of correcting the 500+ instances of the Attibute.) Any thoughts as to how/why this happened?

For localization purposes and to make things easier for me to manage, I would like to eliminate all text that FrameMaker EDDs and output templates automatically add when you tag and publish a DITA file (to PDF). Instead, I would prefer to include this text in the actual DITA file, for example, prefixes for “Note” elements, text in frames on FrameMaker reference pages, as well as text assigned by paragraph numbering. Do I have to modify all existing EDDs and output templates to achieve this, or is there a better way?

I have just added:https://tracker.adobe.com/#/view/FRMAKER-11690which is a bug report describing that it is not possible to publish HTML5 from books with generated lists.I have tried adding List of Tables and List of figures to a book file, but for some reason it seems FrameMaker simply disregards these documents when it generates HTML5.If anybody can find the time to check it, I would greatly appreciate it.

I want to save generic table structures for Notice, Caution, Warning, and Danger boxes. Each box needs 2 columns: one for the appropriate icon and another for the word Notice, etc., followed by a line for the necessary text. Then each time we need a Notice box we can paste the generic Notice box (which already has the Notice icon and the word Notice) and just type in the text. I'd like to avoid using something from a Reference page because I think that items on the Reference page are ignored when you output to Responsive HTML5. I don't want the boxes to disappear. If you have an idea how to do this, I hope to hear from you. Thanks,Chris

I have a super simple book made in FM2020. It is meant as design update of the "scientific paper" template which ships with FrameMaker. Only thing is... when I generate a LOF and LOT these documents are not generated when I publish as HTML5. PDF works fine. The book updates ok and the TOC works as expected. But when I generate HTML5 from the book, Publish does not generate html versions of the LOF and LOT.And I can't figure out why not! Does anybody have a suggestion? Tables with footnotes are set to alphabetic when you generate HTML5 or Basic HTML output. This issue occurs whether your document is structured or not. Table footnote configurations in FrameMaker are ignored in the HTML output. To see how dramatic this issue can be, try to produce a table with more than 30 footnotes, and you'll be surprised by the type of characters inserted in the HTML output. Hallo communityich habe das Problem, dass beim Öffnen einer bestehenden xml-Datei die Querverweise weg sind. Ich kann der Querverweis wählen, speichern und ist in der Strukturansicht sowie im Text ersichtlich. Nach dem Schliessen der xml-Datei und wieder Öffnen ist der Querverweis weg. Das xml ist als ditamap gespeichert.  was läuft da falsch?Danke für euere Hilfe.Dorotea

Hi there, I'm trying to create a link in FM2019 so that when it is clicked, it will go to a specified element in a page (for example, a table or image). I am using the "hypertext" pod to create the aforementioned link, since I would rather not create a cross-reference link in this instance.  Under the "command" dropdown panel in the hypertext pod, I have been successful in creating a link using the "go to specified page" command (e.g.: "gotopage 00/01:58", i.e. filename + page number). This is effective for linking to the start of a page, but as mentioned above, if I want a link to go to an element halfway down a page it appears I'll need to find the objectID to link to.  Would anyone be able able to tell me where I can find the objectID of elements, else a way I can create links to certain elements within a FM2019 project using the hypertext pod?  Any assistance would be much appreciated.

In my panel I have a drop-down list, from which I can select an item. Below that UI element there are buttons which are enabled at the time I can select from the list: The list reacts on OnChanage. The buttons of course on OnClick. If I 'accidentally' select by double click (only the 3rd and 4th list element are relevant for this) then the buttons underneath the cursor location also react (currently with a message "not implemented"). How can I avoid this? Disabling the two buttons in the OnChange call back function of the drop-down list does not help, because in the further processing of the selection the buttons are enabled. And my computer seems to be faster than my double click interval... I think I must consume the double click in a call back function for the list. But there is no onDoubleClick event type for drop-down lists. Documenting this behaviour might be the only means.

We are entering into the World of HTML5 with our Technical Manuals. Authoring in Frame 2020. There are numbered steps throughout our documents. Some steps go beyond 9 into two digits. In Frame, the decimal following each number is aligned above and below, regardless if the step number is a single digit or a double digit. However, in publishing to HTML5, the digits are all flush left. Decimals for single digits align; decimals for double digits align; but single and double digit steps do not align with each other. The left margins of the content of the steps also moves to the right for double digit steps. Is there a means to align all numbered steps to the decimal? Also, the wrapped send line of text in a double digit numbered step will not align with the first line. That will fall into place once I resolve the issue with decimal alignment. FRAME:HTML5:    

Does anyone know where I can find a Framemaker template for a User's Guide?  Rather than re-invent the wheel, maybe there's an existing format I can use?  Just need the standard innards: TOC, some kind of body format, multiple chapters, list of figures, list of tables.  Anyone?

I need to write if (oTsel.beg.obj.ObjectValid()) { Why is the selection itself is not considered an object - although is noticed as such in the data browser?

Trying to install Framemaker 2019 on Windows 7 Professional 64 bit OS.The installation fails asking  me to update Operating Sysytem.Even after updating OS I get the same error. 

I add keyscopes in my ditamap according to DITA 1.3 specification. But the keyscope settings don't work when I save the ditamap as PDF.Does FrameMaker support keyscope? If yes, how to?
