My request is for the Brush Tool, again! As I paint, I like to make frequent changes and tweaks to the brush engine as my needs and intentions for that brush develop; kind of like changing gears in a variably subtle or drastic manner. Saving the brush as a preset is not helpful because I adjust it so frequently. It would be very helpful to have the option to add an additonal or multiple Brush Tools to the tool bar, each with separate engines and mappable shortcuts, which could be rapidly switched between to grasp or fabricate a brush of a totally different nature without having to discard my previous settings before switching back again. In effect, I want to be able to suspend my current brush engine and use another without having to save the preset in the middle. I think many users could find employment for a Primary and Secondary Brush Tool option to very quickly alternate between the strengths of either brush without being slowed down by saving presets - or for helping to design complimentary presets simultaneously. The Mixer Brush is not a suitable alternative due to lacking Opacity controls. Currently I find using the Eraser on a transparency locked layer an almost convenient work around. Thank you for reading, I hope this suggestion ignites some consideration!Oliver
Yes, you currently right click and scroll up the contextual menu to do this, but would it not make more sense to have button down to the left of the Automate to Sequence button?
I noticed there is no option for f-log/f-log2 in color management override settings. Please Add support to F-Log/F-log2 in color management which will help fuji users
If I apply the Adaptive Portrait preset (e.g. Polished Portrait) at import - I get exclamation mark and message all AI settings need updating on EACH image after import. I think it should not work like that, moreover that I don't know of any way to update AI settings for a batch of multiple images at once. Please fix. Lightroom Classic, Mac OS - all latest builds [Moved from 'Bugs' to 'Discussions' by moderator, according to forum rules.]
Loupe Overlay is useful for image layouts in Loupe View (Magazine covers with text, etc) however the Overlay is not visible in Full-Screen mode [F]. If this were possible, images could be shown, or projected, 'full-screen' with an overlay similar to a watermark or Identity Plate.
I build wall mural "blanks" that serve as templates to be filled with artwork. Guides are an integral part of these templates. We use them show live area vs bleed, along with things like wall corners and ceiling contours. It's maddening that I can't lock guides and save that behavior before handing over a template. I've heard "it's an application function" as a reason for the inability to save. All right, but then let me choose my default guide behavior in Settings. If I could set "locked" as our default Photoshop guide behavior, we'd eliminate the risk of guides getting screwed up accidentally. An errant guide isn't such a big deal in the template itself, but our working mural files can run upward of 80GB, so fixing an accidental guide move can be a hugely heavy lift, and in some cases isn't even possible on any but our hardcore production workstation. I've been able to save locked guides in Illustrator and InDesign since forever. I can't believe I can't in Photoshop.
I would really like to see a way to configure the location and max sizes of the preview and smart preview cache. If I could move the preview/smart preview cache away from the Lightroom catalog, this would allow me to easily sync the catalog via Dropbox/OneDrive/etc.I'd also like to set a max size for the preview and smart preview cache (so I don't run into space issues on smaller SSD drives). Once max size is hit, it can cull old/unused cache entries.
The symmetry tool has been one of my most regularly used tools since its introduction since as a concept artist I'm often designing symmetrical things. However, when I work I tend to have multiple drawings spread out on my canvas, and I'll bounce between them as I work, which means having to recreate the axis of symmetry whenever I do this.I know I could just center everything on the same axis, but that would mean having to constantly hide/unhide whatever I'm not working on, and I'd also miss out on being able to view all the work at once. So I'd love the ability to assign a unique axis of symmetry to an individual layer (or group!) that functions identically to the current tool, and then be able to (with a keyboard shortcut) toggle between the global symmetry I've defined and the layer-specific ones. And ideally, I'd be able to redraw any axis without affecting other existing ones, whether global or layer-specific.
I need to share the files in an inactive user's folder with another user. Your documentation for this is straightforward and I have done this before. However, we have accumulated a large number of inactive users over the years, and I am unable to scroll through the pages long enough to find the user in question by exhaustive search. Please add a search field to this page so that we can search for an inactive user without scrolling through the entire database manually. I have already searched the community and I am not the first person to request this feature. Thank you.
Title: Persistent Color Palette Visibility When Switching Between Brush and EraserDescription: When painting a 3D model in Substance Painter (version 10.0.1 on Windows 10), the color palette closes automatically when switching between the brush and eraser tools. This disrupts the workflow as I constantly need to reopen the palette. Why is this valuable to you? Maintaining the palette's visibility when switching tools would save time and enhance the user experience by allowing for smoother transitions between tools without the need to repeatedly open the palette.Title: Add Color Picking Functionality with Alt Key While Using BrushDescription: I would like to suggest an enhancement for the brush tool in Substance Painter. Similar to Photoshop, it would be very helpful to have the ability to pick a color while using the brush by holding down the Alt key.Why is this valuable to you? This functionality would streamline the painting process by allowing users to quickly sample colors without switching tools, thereby improving efficiency and the overall painting experience.Title: Presets for Brushes with Saved Settings (Alpha, Size, Opacity, etc.)Description: It would be very beneficial to have the ability to create and save presets for brushes that include all customized settings such as alpha, size, opacity, and more. Why is this valuable to you? This feature would save time for artists who frequently switch between different brush settings, making it easier to maintain consistency across different projects and enhancing the overall user experience.Title: Enhanced Projection Features - Transparency and Rotation with SnappingDescription: When projecting an image onto a 3D model, it would be helpful to have more control over the transparency of the projected image, as well as the ability to rotate the image with snapping options (e.g., in increments of 15 degrees). Why is this valuable to you? These improvements would give users greater flexibility and precision when working with projections, allowing for more creative and accurate texturing workflows.Title: Improved Performance When Working with Large Projection Images (Over 1000 MB)Description: There is a performance issue in Substance Painter (version 10.0.1 on Windows 10) where the application crashes when working with projection images larger than 1000 MB. It would be beneficial to optimize the software to handle larger images without crashing or freezing. Why is this valuable to you? Many artists work with high-resolution textures for detailed models. Improving performance for large images would prevent workflow disruptions and make Substance Painter more robust for professional use.
Howdy👋Currently there is some basic level of support for photoshop artboards in afx via a .psd file. However, AFX will import the psd and create a series of preComps, and a master 'overview' comp, as you would see all of your artboards within photoshop. However, it fails to set the preComp sizes to the size of each artboard, and instead sets all of the preComps resolution, to what looks like the bounding box of all of the artboards as they are laid out within the container comp. This then obviously requires a bunch of work, for what should work out of the box, bearing in mind that artboards were introduced in 2015....Additionally, Illustrator now has artboards too. However, there is no support whatsoever in afx for this.As a part of this refresh, it would also be nice to be able to do the reverse. I.E. have a project in AFX that has a container comp with nested preComps, with the ability to 'save frame as photoshop layers', and additionally (if the project is vector based with paths etc), have a 'save frame as illustrator layers', with both supporting artboard export for the preComps.Thank you 🙏
I occasionally use the AutoSync feature in the Develop pamnel to automatically apply multiple edits to multiple photos at the same time. However, after doing so, I very frequently forget to turn off AutoSync and then may make multiple selections again in a different tab (say the grid view). Then, when I go back to make an edit, I accidentally have the AutoSync option still selected and end up making a lot of edits to a lot of photos before realizing that I have had it turned on. I would appreciate a new feature of the settings menu that would allow a user to choose to keep the AutoSync selected after making a new or different selection of photos (as it does today), or have the ability to automatically disable AutoSync automatically as soon as the user selects a different selection, either a single selection, or another multiple selection. I currently use an 2023 iMac 24" M3, running Sonoma 14.6.1 and Lightroom Classic CC v13.5. I havwe found the fact that AutoSync stays active very friustrating over the years. By making this a new setting / preference, some user that like the AutoSync to stay opn can have it they way they prefer as well!
Lightroom mobile should have a feature where adding keywords to images with keywords that have been used already in other pictures show up as a list that we can easily click. This would be much faster than having to type each keyword repetitively. Another alternative idea to keywords is to have a keyword suggestion popup as we type and we can select it instead of having to type out the entire word(s)
LR allows users to customize the file name format (EDIT>PREFERENCES>FILE HANDLING). For example, my webpage images have a hyphen between words in a title, while my client images use spaces in lieu of hyphens. LR allows users to customize export presets...I have 14 export presets. In none of the export presets, can I lock in the file format (i.e. the hyphen use or space use). When using my webpage image export preset, I must first edit the LR preferences. Seconds later, when exporting the same image for another use, I have to undo the LR preference, making for cumbersome work. REQUEST: Allow users to customize the file format in Export Preset so we can avoid the LR preference flip-flopping.
It would be great to be able to slip an edit numerically. Currently, if I only want to slip an edit a few frames I need to zoom in on the timeline and then drag with the Slip Edit tool. Being able to do so numerically would be significantly faster, more efficient and more accurate.
In the Import dialog, there should be an option to skip importing any JPEG files where a matching RAW file exists. I always leave my camera on shooting JPEG+RAW, since I can easily download pics to my phone and share with others while on the go, but I don't keep those in my computer. Therefore, an easy solution to just skip these files during import would be great. Currently, the closest process is to either: in the Import dialog, import all files, go to settings, configure to "display jpeg and raw as separate files", remove all JPEG, revert your configuration; OR In the Import dialog, select all images, sort by image type, uncheck all JPEG images, import just the others Any of these alternatives are cumbersome and not perfect: if you happen to have a picture in JPEG only, not the matching RAW, you risk deleting it by mistake.
More and more I'm finding myself working on templates from other design groups that make use of Essential Properties. Unfortunately a lot of these templates use the EP's in ways that run counter to good versioning practices (please stop building workflows that use the Essential Graphics panel in AE for versioning, people!). In trying to restructure these projects for a better workflow, I need to trace just where properties are used as Essential Properties. Unfortunately the only way I can see to do this is to go through comps one-by-one in the EG panel and then use the "Reveal in timeline" feature. It would be great if I could right-click on a property and see a list of comps that have that property as an essential property. It might also be useful to have a way to see a table of all the EP's in the project, including their source layers and containing comps, along with the comps the EP's are attached to. If these Essential Property links were exposed in the scripting API I'd gladly write a script to do this, but sadly, they are not. But the aforementioned pop-up menu would be a good start in helping to untangle these projects.
In Adobe Audition, I like the feature where If I want to play from forward some duration of my timeline, I just need to place my playhead there and it automatically plays without the need to play button. It would be more flexible for me if I get the same feature in premiere pro.
I'd like to see some improvements/additions to the lens blur manual adjustment tools. The AI does a great job, but it's never quite perfect. It would be really useful to be able to simply set/calibrate depth with an adjustment brush, rather than a relative focus/blur. I think it means adding a third tool that is more explicitly "paint depth"—preferably with an eyedropper to select the depth level from the image. The depth level you are painting should correspond directly to the 1-100 scale that the focus range adjustment uses. At least half of my time spent adjusting photos using lens blur is adjusting imperfect AI mapping of objects outside the main subject so that they match their surroundings. For that, I switch to the "visualize depth" map mode. If you're trying to get the image to a place where you can then adjust the blur amount and focus range, you really need the depth map itself to be accurate. Why is the new tool needed? Using the existing focus/blur tools in "visualize depth" mode to get the actual depth correct is difficult/a pain. You have to use a focus or blur brush on areas that are of the same current depth; then, adjusting the "amount" so that this brush area visually matches the color of the target depth area. It seems that "amount" is relative in some way, too. That means that if you want to adjust other areas to that same target depth, but these other areas are of a different current depth, you usually need to create a new brush and go through the same process because the "amount" setting may need to be different. I realize that some people may just want to visually add a focus or blur and be done with it. I'm not knocking the existing tools for their purpose! As noted above, though, you can't eyeball if a blur amount looks about right on the image (sans depth map) and then count on that to then look OK when adjusting blur amount/depth range. --- Secondarily, it'd be nice to see/select/delete individual brush areas. --- Currently using LrC v13.5.1, MacOS Sonoma v14.6.1
Make an Autofill masked area feature for Freeze Mask in Liquify (as you've done recently for Remove tool). It should be optional, I believe. Will help to save time. We draw a loop around an area we want to mask (freeze) and it is filled automatically.
I am capturing via tether while using multiple displays all day / every day and the widget it constantly disapearing. If it goes way I have to make sure LR is in full screen mode then go to another app and then back to Lightoom to find the widget over on another display then drag it to the correct display to shoot. Yes I know I can F12 to shoot and shift/command T to change Shot Name but I often need the "Tethered Capture Settings" window to change sesssion name and that's a button on the widget. I want the tether window to imbed in my develop module to which I'm shooting or have a completely new customizable Tether Module. Thoughts? How does that sound Adobe, let's make it happen. -Rf
Photoshop has given very good updates in the last few years which is very commendable... There is a great need to add one more option in Photoshop, 3D Color Space Tool which we can use... Such tools make the work and the software easier. 3D Color Tool is already provided in many software like 3D Luts Creator, DaVinci Resolve's Color Warper tool, all these make the software very easy for color correction... Please add such a tool in Photoshop as well..
The Generate Normal Map tool was recently removed, but I got a lot of use out of it and would like it back. I understand you removed it along with the 3D functionality, but it seems like the image-to-normal tool could have remained on its own. I didn't find much use for the rest of the 3D tools, but the loss of this normal map tool put a big hole in my production pipeline. I've heard that Adobe suggests people use Substance for this kind of thing , and while I'd love to do more with Substance, that's an expensive upgrade I'm not prepared to make for this one feature. Thank you!
