I need some help with InCopy. We work with InC and InD. On my Mac, I can open an InD file, edit it, do copy fitting, etc. Once I check-in all, save and close the INDD, I can reopen it on my computer and it will appear just as I left it. However, when an associate opens the same file on their Mac the copy will be overset. Are we having a font challenge? Is there some other issue at play? Thanks for the assistance.
Hi all, I have a strange problem: I've installed and activated a certain font, Meta Serif Pro, using Adobe Creative Cloud Fonts and I want to use it. I see the font, I can use it in InDesign, but when I want to use it with InCopy, the font is in brackets eand the text is pink, meaning the font can't be found. This is extra weird because I can litterally see the font in the drop-down menu in InCopy, as well as all the font-types (Itallic, Bold, etc.) Could anyone please help? Thanks a bunch!Cheers,Arthur
Hello, i'm working for a restaurant, with which i made several menus using InCopy so they can update them every weeks. It was working well, but they had an electronic shutdown, and since, when they open my icma files, it's written that : the file hasn't got any InCopy article. I don't understand because the icma is working on my computer. What can i do ? Thank you !
I need urgent help. I am trying to place a big footnote description, however it is taking way too much of the page. Even though it already following the next page with text wrap, I am not finding the option to adjust how much of the page the footnote should take. Is there anything I can do to reduce the text box space of the footnote and allow it to take more from the next page? Thank you!
Hi, I am working with a colleague to create booklets that run termly and am coming across issues between versions either within InCopy or between InCopy and InDesign. One example is as follows: I set up a fresh document (based on the previous term's file) and save it for my colleague to work on in InCopy, which works fine. The issue arises when I then open that file in InDesign after he has worked on it and click to update the contents, it loses his updates and reverts to old content.Another example is: When my colleague has finished updating a version in InCopy, he'd like to be able to go back a version to check something or to simply work on that previous file, but he can't because although he may have saved later versions of the InCopy file, the links are for the latest version rather than the one he has opened to work on.My final example is: once a project is complete, how do you save the file and links so that you can use it next term? For instance, in InDesign, you 'package' a job
Ich benötige für die Inegration in ein Redaktionssystem die Version 16.4. Angezeigt wird mir ausschließlich die aktuelle 2022er Version. Was kann ich tun?
I have 10 licenses for CS6 InCopy. My computer died and I need an activation code to load it on my "new' machine. It's running 10.14.5 Mojave
I just installed incopy for the first time. The document is bright white and the brightness hurts my eyes as everything on my computer is in dark mode. Can I change the document color from white to something else? I could just work in indesign and change the background color but is it possible in incopy?
We have created a document that has pages that use checkboxes so that users can check off items in Acrobat when they are reading the document. All the checkboxes are added through the interactive tools in InDesign, but every time the document is opened and edited by the subject matter expert in InCopy, all the checkboxes disappear and we have to go back in to inDesign and add them every single time. Is there a fix for this?
We're getting a message in InCopy we've never seen before. A user is opening a document and attempting to check it out in InCopy, but there is a message that says that it's being edited in another frame. The user isn't able to check anything back in because the option isn't available on the file menu. Has anyone run into this issue before? Any idea what could be causing it? Thanks!

Hello. Working in a big cultural institution I am currently looking for a way to create a design (A4 info sheet) which can then be handed over to my colleagues who would prefer to use only InCopy. As far as I know, InCopy doesn't work on its own but allows to edit text which then needs to be updated in the original InDesign file, but maybe I am wrong? Is there a way to "transform" an InDesign document into an InCopy document so the colleagues would be able to apply final adjustments to the file in InCopy and then create a PDF from it?Thanks for any advice,Christiane
I'm trying to edit stories in InCopy. This has happened twice now: I add a few words toward the beginning of the story, and InCopy pushes everything below that line into the overflow section. So I get a suddenly mostly blank text box, and the Copyfit Progress Info says I'm 98 lines over, even though there's plenty of room in the text box on the page. There shouldn't be any overflow on this story at all, let alone 98 lines. The only way we could solve it the first time was by going into the InDesign doc and throwing away the text box, and recreating it. Does anyone know what's going on?
Hi everyone, I just downloaded InCopy on my new Surface Pro 8. I am an editor and I edit articles in InCopy. When I open the documents to edit, I can either check out the content but I am NOT able to make changes, or I cannot check out the content at all. Has anyone dealt with this or know of any solutions? I have been reading that it's possible that these programs might not run in Windows 11? Is the only solution for me to install Windows 10 on my surface instead? Thanks in advance. I am desperate for a solution as this is affecting my work and deadlines!
hi. hoping someone can give us some advice.we're in the midst of building a 120-page doc for a client in InDesign (on a Mac, InDesign 17.1.0.50, MacOS Monterey, .icml files on local Dropbox), client has supplied 90 or so .icml files. late yesterday our InDesign file crashed, and now we are unable to check in or out (or edit) of any of the content in our document. It's no longer an option in the InCopy menu when we right mouse click.Suggestions?
Is Incopy compatible with right to left languages?
When the editor opens the InCopy asssignment in her computer, every frame has overset text, as if they were one-line shorter than needed (picture1). The weird thing is that, in InDesign, every frame looks ok. My ID file has no overset text frames, and I tend to double click the frame to fit to text, so theorically it is the exact size it should be. This is the second time it happens, but this time I believe I've fit-to-text all of my frames, so I imagine it has to do with that. The weirdest part though, is that if I open the assignment in my computer, the text boxes look fine as well (picture2), no overset text here either. I use iOS and the editor, Windows. The only way I've found to fix it, is to manually make each of the frames 1 or 2 mm higher in ID and then updating design in IC, but this file has tons of frames so it's no viable to do that. What can I do to avoid this? Is there a way to make all the text frames bigger by 2mm at the same time? InCopy, opened by
I updated a large fact sheet/brochure sytem for my client (100+ fact sheets and 11 brochures). One of their requests was to be able to revise disclaimers (there are five versions) once and have them automatically request an update when the file is opended next. I created five InCopy files to link to each of the fact sheets/brochures. My issue is this: three of the InCopy files work as intended but two seem to revert from editable to in use by me. I've attached screen shots from the client. I recreated and they still aren't working. What am I doing wrong?
Hello, We currently have two users who have InCopy crash when they are opening files from DropBox. They receive the following error message when trying to open InCopy again after the crash. When attempting to make a local copy of the file and then open from the File menu it seems to work about half the time but still fails pretty frequently. They are both on Mac as well. I was just wondering if anyone has ran into this before. There doesn't seem to be any other error/crash message besides for this.
My checkboxes and/or radio buttons are disappearing when I update my InCopy links after my editor has made changes. My editor checks out all of the stories, even if they dont make edits to those specific stories with the checkboxes/radio buttons, they disappear. Once I recieve the file, I update the InCopy links and my form items are gone, however, it does still shows the invisible anchored object symbol so it would seem like the information is there somewhere. Before ... After
I have a small, four page document with 20 hidden Notes. I have changed the stack order of the Tabs in Story View to consecutive pages (1,2,3,4), but my Notes are out of order. Notes #1-4 are on page 2, #5-9 on page 3, etc, with Notes 16-20 are on page 1. Not really a big deal, except I want (new to InCopy) users to begin with Note 1 on page 1 to avoid confusion. Is there any way to re-order the Notes?
