Hello. I am trying to package a 44-page portfolio, but I am having a small issue when I open the PDF in the portfolio. Whenever I open the PDF, the pages that are spreads are showing up as separate pages. I have messed with a lot of settings since such as printer presets and looking into the document and layout. I would like to mention that in these attempts I have indeed changed everything to spreads when it comes to export and printing settings in which I find do not affect the packaging, at least how I would like it to. I haven't had any issues in the past, and I hadn't touched any settings, so I am not sure why this is happening. The only thing that might have changed this is that I republished my file online as a live link as I needed to add my portfolio to my resume as a hyperlink. When opening the file, you can change the view to spreads and even separate the title page; however, the pages are still separate and even have a spacing between them. I have a 39pg. InDesign document that I have been working in for the past year (professional portfolio, so I have saved a copy multiple times. Mainly consists of graphic images and GIS maps, the issue is with the text boxes) and the text keeps disappearing and freezing in whatever text box I am working in. I recently graduated and switched from my school account to a private subscription, and that is when the problem started. The text will disappear from the text box for upwards to 3-5 minutes and only reappear when I start just scrolling up and down in the document, and then it reappears in strips and chunks. The cursor will flash in the blank text box and I can type on my keyboard and changes will be there when the text reappears, but I can't see what I'm doing. This is happening multiple times a minute - almost every time I add a word or make a change - except of course when I shared my screen with support. Hi all, I'm having a strange issues whereby the current page marker on my A-Parent page only applies to the first two characters. Basically, the traditional style numbering only applies to the first two characters, and for Roman numerals, only the first two letters are in small caps. See examples in the picture. I've tried this with different styles (and no styles) applied, so the issue isn't to do with the style itself. There is no GREP style applied to the first two characters, or any nested style etc. Any ideas? 

The boxes don't appear in paragraph styles to define a dashed rule width like they do when you just select the rules not in paragraph styles. Is there a way to do this and make it a style?

I had been working on a project in InDesign, and recently switched from PC to Mac.I think I installed a new font on the PC.  When I open the file in Mac InDesign, it shows 6 fonts are missing.  What the heck.  Has anyone dealt w/ something similar.  I guess I have to install those fonts first to Mac, then open the file.  Any advice?  I did install the font to Mac, and InDesign is still showing missing multiple fonts.  

Hi there, I have 5 boxes set up in an InDesign CMYK doc. Each of those shapes is filled with a CMYK swatch. I want to add them to a CC library. If I select the 5 boxes and do "add to CC library, extract from image," it creates RGB swatches. I know this because when I add them into another CMYK InDesign doc into the swatches, they are all RGB. Thank you for any advice, I'll like to have them added as CMYK swatches. 

Hi everyone, when I export an INDD file to PDF, red lines appear. It looks like InDesign is cutting the background image into lots of little squares during export because when I open the PDF (With Adobe PDF pro), I can select these little boxes and even delete them. Does anyone know how to avoid this? It's for a CMYK export.

This is getting to be annoying. Whenever I'm working in InDesign, if I pause my work for a period of time, the screen either goes to gray and then to pink. I can't see a thing. I'm continually having to quit out of InDesign and reopen if I want to continue working on a document. Any ideas why this is happening?

When I set my Paragraph Style to Middle East Character Formats > Character Direction > Right to Left, the percentage displays correctly on the left side of the number, but the numbers themselves are flipped.   When I set the Character Direction to Default, the numbers display normally, but the percentage sign shifts to the right side, which is incorrect.  When I set the Character Direction to Left to Right, everything is mirrored.I’ve already set the language to Arabic and tested all possible character direction combinations, but none provide the correct result.   

Hi, recently we updated the ID and IC to higher version, and find that the indicator for overset content in text frame is now by default transparent, rather not visible. Until we select and focus on that particular text frame, the indicator turns red. But the default indicator color could cause designer miss out the error. May I know if any tips on preferences or other settings for adjusting the indicator presentation? Please find the screenshots below for references of before/after selecting the text frame and how the indicator appears. Thanks.   

I'm doing some packaging design and trying to fit ingredients list into limited space. Please help me with how to get the text to not break when there is clearly space for the text to go, if it hyphenates. I have changed the hyphenation settings which helps a little but I still get space left. (see picture, calcium is left with an empty space) Theres no right indent, the rag is off, I have turned on single line composer. Not sure what else I can do? Help!!!

I'm pretty sure I've made a rookie mistake somewhere in this project but I have a document with various sections that each have their own parent page. In order to get the page numbering correct I had to switch off 'Allow Document Pages To Shuffle' but I think it's messed up the layout because when my client tries to upload the print ready PDF to KDP, a bunch of pages at the end have their margins messed up.   When I look at the pages panel you can see all the spreads but then there is a lone page hanging just before these errors begin. I can't remember what I did there because this has been a long and complex project but it looks as though the margins are 'compensating' for that missing page and so, even though the page looks like its on the left in the pages panel it has the margins of a right page. I hope that makes sense.    Any suggestions on how to fix that?  

 I have a font installed and it doesn't appear in InDesign 2025. It appears in all other software, what should I do?

Hello and thanks for looking at this question: I am working with a book manuscript (in Word) — 30+ chapters with endnotes at the end of each chapter. Each chapter's endnote numbering begins with 1. What's the most efficient way to import and work with this? Do I need to place one chapter at a time? How do I keep each set of endnotes showing up in the right place with fresh numbering, without losing the flow of pages from one chapter to the next? The book is only going to be published in print, not an e-book. Thank you.

Hi brain trusted, I’m relatively new and looking to cut down the manual steps of File ->Publish Online across many INDD files. Is there a supported way via script, plug-in, or API to open the dialog, prefill settings, publish, and capture the URL (or update an existing online doc) with fewer clicks? I can't find any relevant commend refernce from InDespign API developer.adobe.com/indesign/dom/api/ Thanks in advance!!Cheng

Here's my main issue: Working on a file given to me by a client. Want to create a new text box by clicking and dragging text tool like you do. However, instead of that, I get a fixed size frame that won't let me type text in it. If I try to make an image box and click on that to convert to a text frame, it also does allow text inside. I checked for auto-sizing of text frames and that the convert to text frame option is on, everything looks as it should. What gives? Other issue: While trying to solve the above, software stops allowing copy/paste or save.Things I tried: - Closing and opening InDesign (usually solves the copy/past or save issue)- Deleting preferences folderThoughts?

i was using windows 10, indesign 2024. my computer suddenly bluescreened and now i cant open said file, no matter what i do. is it corrupted? is there any hope? 

Hi! When I export a book (indb) to fluid epub format, the direction of the pages is reversed. Moving through the book pages from right to left. Curiously, if I export one of the book files (instead of the entire book) the direction is the desired one, from left to right. Any idea or solution?thanks!!       <Title renamed by MOD>

I am sure this is a challenge we all face at some period: I have been downloading a lot of scripts lately, and my file structure is getting messy. I see that ID looks for scripts in two places: C:\Users\owner\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\InDesign\Version 20.0-ME\en_IL\Scripts\as well as:C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign 2025\Scripts\Community\Scripts Panel and maybe elsewhere? I want to organize everything in one directory and then break that up into subdirectories. So, where should everything be going? And is there a third-party tool for organizing scripts more efficiently? Thank you, and have a good day!Susan Flamingo edit: I would really also be able to add short notes to the script, see if a hotkey has successfully been assigned, and much more metadataAlso, i have some vision challenges and I would like to enlarge all the text in the script panel.
