InDesign

Hi I am trying to put photos into my EPUB and have several times got ¾ the way through placing and anchoring the photos. But when I make small changes in one part of the document, most of the photos throughout the document misalign. It’s a 140 page book and I’m on my third attempt from scratch of getting ¾ the way through. Tomorrow will be day 4. Here’s what I’m doing if you can help me figure out where I am going wrong. I apply a paragraph style to the paragraph before the photo, with 0.7 in space after the para.  Then I press enter after the final word in that para then file place the photo. I drag the photo to the size I want then select jump object. I anchor the photo to the last word of the para before.Then under the photo I type a caption and apply my caption style, which has 0.5 in space before and 0.5 in space after. But here's an example of what’s happening. The photos are sitting between two pages.  

Hi! I'm wondering if anyone can help with what I imagine is a "settings" type issue. I am trying to print really basic stuff. Like, basic fonts and vector images in black and white. When I try to print from Illustrator and InDesign, the images and text appear as tiny printed black dots (or, with thicker type, just super jagged edges). Like, it prints like a crappy rendering of the fonts and images. Zooming in on the computer screen, it's all crisp, even when something the size of a 12-pt period, zoomed in to the size of my head. So, I do know what a vector is and that it's not a poor resultion image that can't be blown up. The same fonts print beautifully from Microsoft Word, etc. I'm attaching an image of a photo of a couple sentences that I printed in black and white (sorry I have whack lighting; it's just black toner on white paper). The sentences on the computer screen look normal. I'm using a super basic printer--a Brother black and white laser printe

Numbering was no problem for my 350-page book but then I tried adding Roman Numerals to the opening pages. What I ended up with are no RNs appearing on the opening pages but they do appear as numbers in Pages. But none of the RNs appear on the actual pages, only in Pages. Here's a screenshot Now that the sequencing is all out of whack, can't return to reassign Page 1 to what has become Page XV. How can I manage this mess? 

When I go to open my Indesign or After Effects the application just bounces on my screen and does nothing, unresponsive. I have installed and reinstalled while also deleting the previous preferences. I have also ran my Disk Utility to look for issues and can't find a solution. 

Dear community,  In InDesign 20.4.1 on Sequoia 15.5, installed plugins (Creative Cloud tells they are installed) don't show up in the Plugins Panel. That panel only says Get started by installing … Discover Plugins. What am I missing here? Thanks!

I have setup page numbering to be lowercase Roman numerals, but are being displayed capitalized:How might I get the lower case dispay? 

For example, there are multiple lines.Like this, Can I only hit a space to center it?alert("         Note that \n         ●●●\n you have chosen nothing").Thank you very much. 

Got a weird one. Suddenly inDesign (and inCopy) are splitting a font that I've used regularly in the past into pieces, rendering them unusable. Minion Variable Concept, which originally just had Regular, Italic, etc. options. now has a slew of "Text-9.500" etc. options, each relating to a different font size. See attached—screenshots are from inCopy, but inDesign shows the same thing. So now when I open a file that uses these, all these "Text-10.000" etc. fonts are missing.  My designer is using the same version of inDesign and the same fonts (he re-sent me the font files, just to confirm) and has no issues. Weirder, if I open an old .indd from a project three months ago, which worked perfectly at the time, I get the same font errors. Even worse: This seems to be making both inDesign and inCopy crash.  I've reinstalled both inCopy and inDesign multiple times, reinstalled the font, tried multiple different files, etc. No luck. macOS 15.5, tried it in inDesign 20.4.1

Hi everyone,I'm using InDesign 2025 and trying to embed audio in an interactive PDF. I’ve followed the standard steps:Added MP3 files to the Media panel, following Adobe’s guidelines.Created a button, set the action to "Sound", and linked it to the appropriate MP3 file.Exported the document as an Adobe PDF (Interactive) with "Include all forms and media" checked.The result:The button appears as expected in the PDF (the cursor changes to a hand on hover), but nothing happens when I click it—the audio doesn't play. Is there a way to develop a script or action in IND to flow copy from MS word in to an IND template? 

I have a French document with lots of accented letters. I was trying to type those letters with accents on them, but I was unable to. I know how, I've done it in the past. I even looked it up online to get the correct keystrokes for the correct direction and accent. I get the accent and then the letter. InDesign is not allowing me to have the accent over the letter. Is this something that broke in CS5 and just needs to be fixed? Any ideas? I thought maybe this function was removed since now there is the handy Character Viewer at the top of the monitor. It is handy, but not convenient if you have a lot to type.

iMac 2017, Ventura 13.7.6, InDesign 2025Applying a small transparent caption frame over a full page greyscale image causes the whole image to lose contrast when transparency is applied.Also when applying drop shadow to an item on a spread, greyscale images on that page and adjacent page also lose contrast. These images do not contact the drop shadow item in any way.I cannot see any change to CMYK images.Is this a bug - any advice please?Phil in Welland, UK

There are too many different properties settings.I want to get a controlled, clean style with no overrides.Is there an easy way to do it in three or two lines? Thank you very  much.

I use InDesign Server to generate previews and materials from my application. I have two scripts, first one to generate a preview (jpeg with watermark added) and material (pdf with pdfpreset). I use the same template file and the same datasource csv for each action. When I generate material QR codes are correctly generated, but for preview instead of QR codes I get gray boxes see attached file). I have been seraching for a solution for hours. I've made this reflowable ebook in InDesig the same way I always do with a multi-level TOC and I've never had this error before.I have checked the code and all links in the TOC appear correctly labelled to correspond to tthe relevant ID markers on the relevant pages. I'm stuck, and my client's book needs to be published yesterday 🙂I tried Unchecking 'Page Navigation' as suggested on another thread but this made no difference.Can anyone help please?

Hi all, Had an issue pop up in the past few weeks that is driving me crazy. I have Application Frame on and ID filling my screen. When I enter presentation mode (Shift w) and then escape out, it scales my Application to a smaller size, like half of my window.Anyone know how to fix? Thanks! 

I created a QR code with a website URL inside of it, when I use my phone to scan it to see if it works, it doesn't do anything. But I scan another QR code with the same phone and app and it brings up the website from that other QR code.Any advice? Thanks.

Hi, please can you help me identify where I am going wrong in trying to export the cover for my EPUB? I have applied individual styles to each line of text as they have different font sizes. I applied export tags to the styles. I grouped the background, text boxes and photos as JPGs then exported as EPUB. My export settings include the following except for screenshot 5 (screenshot 5 is where I selected 'relative to text flow' on export rather than 'fixed'):  Export settings: Rasterize first page. Content / Order: Based on page layout. Object: Preserve appearance from layout. CSS size: Fixed, Layout: align centre. Export math objects as SVG. Include classes in HTML / generate CSS When I export, I get an error message saying  ‘appearance mismatch may occur when overlapping grouped objects are exported as JPG’. The images are not overlapping. I changed the photos to PNG but, unfortunately, that changes the look of the pics so the top two are zoomed out, which
