It's not scientific, you can't set the units of the stroke by right clicking on the ruler?I'm going to go ahead and start a suggestion if that's really not possible.
Hi to Everyone,I need to save 30 different pages as separately pdfs with a unique name on each other. Is there any possibility to make it automatically?I already installed Page Exporter Utility but as I see (or maybe I missed) there is no function to name each file as a paragraph or something. Same with a book, even if the file name is unique you can't save it with a unique name as separate pdf automatically. Or maybe there is some script which can export a batch of files to PDF like in Image Processor in Photoshop? It will be a great time saver if something like this exists! Maybe someone had the same problem?
Why are these errors and how do I find the place to amend them (all RSC-005)? I've used ID Styles for both text and objects and am not a coder. For content.opf error reads:(line 2, col 105):Error while parsing file: attribute "xml:lang" not allowed here; expected attribute "id" Line 2 = <package xmlns="http://www.idpf.org/2007/opf" version="2.0" unique-identifier="bookid" xml:lang="en-GB"> In the cover.xhtml lines 3–11 read<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><head><title>Cover</title></head><body><figure style="text-align:center;"><img src="image/1.png" alt="Cover of It&apos;s The Truth: Making The Only Ones by Simon Wright" style="max-width:100%;" role="doc-cover" /></figure></body></html> And the errors are defined as1) (line 8, col 38)Error while parsing file: element "figure" not allowed anywhere; expected element "address", "blockquote", "del", "div", "dl", "h1", "h2", "h3",
The guides I have set up disappeared from my document after the update, so I'm trying to select eveything on each page and move it to my saved blank template that has the guides. Every time select all on a page and try to copy or cut, Indesign crashes. Tried clearing preferences, but the problem persists.
Adobe InDesign 2026 Troubleshooting How-to GuideThis article (updated August, 2026) is about how to reset preferences as well as a step-by-step checklist strategy of what to do when your InDesign app crashes or your document becomes corrupted. What do you do when InDesign (latest version is 21.5.1) and past versions is crashing? Here is a checklist of ideas (including all about how to reset InDesign): Generalities Isolate the source problemIs the problem the InDesign application, or something wrong with your file, or something wrong with your computer OS? InDesign won’t start, or file won’t open, or file opens and crashes, or crashes on same page? Do you have enough RAM?You need at least 16GB of RAM to run InDesign effectively. Restart your computerQuit InDesign, restart your computer, and try to start it again, with no other programs running. Did you try a different computer? If you can, move/copy the InDesign document and linked graphics to open on a different computer. If it works ok
After installing Indesign 2025 (20.0 & 20.1), there is now a 3-5 sec lag/delay every time I click my mouse in and out of the program. This is becoming incredibly frustrating. I've uninstalled/re-installed the app multiple times and reset preferences on quit, and nothing is changing. I also went and "rebuilt my cache" of the Adobe indesign folders on my computer, and that did seem to solve the issue for a day, but I got back to having the delay again. I have had Adobe Indesign for 10 years and have never run into this issue until the 20.0 update. This is making the app unworkable. Please help ASAP. I cannot spend any more time trying to figure this out.
Hi everyone,I’m running into an issue with InDesign 20.3 (2025) when exporting PDFs for print. Even though I set the inside bleed to 0 mm — both in Document Setup and during PDF export — crop marks still appear on the inside edge of each page. What I've tried:Created a brand-new PDF export preset from scratch.Tested both facing-page and single-page documents.Tried exporting using document bleed settings as well as entering the values manually — same result.Exported both packaged and non-packaged files — no difference. This is causing layout problems in perfect-bound print jobs where inside crop marks are not acceptable.Has anyone else experienced this with version 20.3?Is this a known bug or is there a workaround I might have missed? Thanks in advance!Best,Banu
I don't want to see fonts in alphabets other than English. I don't want to see English fonts that I never use? How do I turn them off?
WHY? It's one of the most used tools in my arsenal!!!

I was using InDesign last night, with the most recent updates installed. This morning, the app is uninstalled on my laptop. When I open Creative Cloud, it says the app IS installed on my laptop but needs an update. When I try to update it gets stuck at 93% and won't go any further. Help?
No knockout spaces, no scripting. How to dot automatically indent 4mm when on the first line (no characters before it). It's best to use canonical. Is it possible to realize?
We are an IT company and at one Tenant with Adobe CC 2024 we are seeing intermittend crashing of Indesign 2024 (latest version as of now, 19.5.0.84). It happens when the user opens or saves a document from an Azure SMB File Share. The Error in the Application Eventlog: Faulting application name: InDesign.exe, version: 19.5.0.84, time stamp: 0x6685c284Faulting module name: dynamic-torqnative.dll, version: 7.4.2.0, time stamp: 0x65fc0bfd Exception code: 0xc0000005 I tried to install Adobe Indesign 2023, but 2023 crashes also. Completely removing Adobe CC and reinstalling does not solve the issue. The tenant is using Azure Virtual Desktop (shared pooled desktop). They have 2 Hosts, both have the same issue. Issue started about 2 weeks ago. Can anyone help me in troubleshooting this issue? <Title renamed by MOD>
Hello everyone!I've been having a rather annoying problem since I changed my PC. When I move a block (image, text, etc.), I get a display problem that completely hides the layer, preventing me from seeing or placing the block properly. I mostly work on templates that already have a grid layer on the page, which helps with positioning image and text blocks on the right place. This problem does not occur when I move the block in normal view, but when I display the ‘complete’ view, this annoying display bug appears. I have made a short video and a print screen to show the problem I am encountering :Adobe InDesign / Display glitchAny ideas? I am using InDesign 20.2 / Windows 10. Thanks
I am designing a book for Print on Demand at Ingramspark. The first hardcover proof with its premium paper arrived and all the images are too light. The paperback proof copy also arrived with light images - as well as light text. The resolution was fine. There are about 150 images What is the best way for me to maintain or increase the highest color saturation of each image while meeting the printer’s 240%TAC limit? Is there something to know about the type blackness? I have set the color for all text to be 100%K in InDesign. All images are Photoshop TIFFS already converted to CMYK at 300dpi.I am using InDesign to create the book. This is a book intended for young audiences. All the illustrations are by children and do run pretty "light" in color, but I am seeing total loss of certain areas of illustrations made in pencil, for example. Appreciate any advice. I am in touch with Ingramspark, but getting no real actionable advice, other than to refer to their file set up guide. Hav
HelloHow can I export print booklet to pdf in indesign in mac?
Hi,I'd appreciate any help with the following. First, I'll describe the problem, to estabish context and also open the door for anyone who has a better suggestion than my proposed solution. The ProblemI produce a large range of product documents (user guides, product inserts etc) which use a consistent set of styles. The styles are maintained in their own InDesign document. Every time I edit a document, first thing I do is re-import all the styles, to make sure it's got the latest. This is cumbersome but I don't know of any other way to keep them all in sync. Several paragraph stylesheets (currently: 4) have numbering styles that contain text prefixes: Appendix, Chapter, Table, and Figure. (Each has its own list style.)Once the English version of a document is ready, it goes to our outsourced translation service. I give them a separate copy of the English 'source document' for each target language. We currently have 4 languages other than English but that will increase over time.Th
Hi team.I guess this is something to do with my colour set up.basically I am in the process of creating some simple one colour graphics in illustrator. And in illustrator they look just how I want nice and vibrant. However once I place them into indesign they look dull and lifeless. This would not bother me except when I export to PDF from indeisgn that dull lifeless image is carried to the PDF.If I PDF from illustrator it looks just how I want.Frustratingly in the links panel of indesign that same great colour is there but I cannot for the life of me work out why in the document it looks dull and int he PDF too, I really need help on this as its for a tender which needs to be in by the end of the weekend. To clarify I am not worried so much about absolute colour correction, i.e. calibrating screens etc, my problem is illustrator looks great, indesign looks dull.
Hi all! My goal is to have text update across pages and maintain the paragraph style on the page. As you can see in the above example, when I change the text (story) on page one (black text color) then try to update the link to page two (red text color) I get the message 'Edits have been made in linked story "<Page 1>". You will lose these edits by updating. Update anyway?' Which is telling me that my edits (paragraph style/red color) on page two will be lost when I update the link. That's what I don't want! I want to maintain the edits when updating the link so that the text on page 2 stays red (or sized differently etc) even when the text (story) changes. I tried using the 'Link Options: Story and Objects' (pictured below) panel by selecting both links in the links panel, right clicking and selecting 'link options' which gives me the checkboxes for Appear under 'Preserve Local Edits while Updating Object Links' This seems like
Latest version of Indesign (20.2) is removing bold fonts on some of the pages. I reverted back to 20.0 and working ok
I have a 38-page document created in InDesign 20.3 x64 (Windows 11) for print. I need to publish the document online. I created a menu on the master page with a pancake to get the menu to appear. In the menu, I created a separate button for each of the publication's sections. I then set the GO TO PAGE to each of the respective pages. When I publish the document online the menu does what I want it to do, but when I click on the section buttons, the links go to the wrong page. It looks like the links are all off by 2 pages. I've tried doing the links as hyperlinks, which does not work. The community has been so helpful to me in the past, and I appreciate everyone's help. Hope you all can help again.
Good day -I'm trying to work on a design document, but since updating InDesign 2025, when I'm scrolling pages in the document, I get the spinning beachball.Currently I'm working on a MacBook Pro - Apple M2, and using Sonoma 14..7.5 Does this mean I need to look into upgrading to the Sequoia MacOS? Or is there another work-around? I've forced InDesign to quit, and restarted my computer a couple of times. And rather than doing the recovery thing again, I said no to that when reopening InDesign (didn't do anything the first couple of times I did say yes to that)Thanks in advance!

I have been using Calibre to create and design reflowable ePubs from PDFs. My process has been to convert the PDF into an ePub file and then reformatting the ePub for widespread use across various devices. I have heard that some ebook designers use Indesign to create and design their ebooks. However, a quick Google search tells me that they only use Indesign for fixed-format ePubs, not for reflowable ePubs. Is all of this true? Should I invest in an Indesign subscription or stick with Calibre? What are some things Indesign can do that 1) Calibre cannot do and 2) would be helpful to me as an ebook designer?
I'm replacing data in a table in a multi-page catalog document. In the past, I've been able to copy a column (or multiple columns) from Excel, highlight the corresponding columns in InDesign and then paste them. And it's worked as expected--the data in InDesign is updated with the proper data. But, for the last year, when I try to copy and paste from Excel into an InDesign table, InDesign creates extra rows and columns of empty data. In the second part of this short video, I highlight the cells in InDesign that shouldn't be there.
