Hello, I'm working on a program and I have over 400 student names, majors, etc that I have to include. I have all the information broken out in separate columns in an Excel doc. I need for every entry to be formatted in a certain way as follows and set in mixed weights. Here is an example:First & Last Name Major Thesis Advisor:First & Last NameI also need the individual text boxes threaded between pages within the document. Is Data Merge the best approach to resolve this? And if so, how should my Excel doc be formatted? Thanks for your help! Joel 

Hi,i have a .pdf with 339 edits, most text and i though this was a great opportunity to test drive this feature.I have a 136 page layout. Editorial marked it up. and i have situations like these where it looks like the below. i click accept. and it does the edit, great, no problem...but there is a ":" hidden symbol now been added infront of whatever the edits was.why is that ":"been added?PS: this is a great feature. i have other feedback of things i noticed. i am wondering if the individual marking the .pdf files need to learn how to add comments for things to read better. i noticed display issues when they draw things on the .pdfthanksjonathan

I have a print design, A4 size in spreads, but I need a version to output as a PDF for distribution online. For the latter, I do not want spreads/facing pages.I know that I could export a PDF as single pages but I need to add headers on every page (as opposed to just one page on a spread) for the online version so the easiest thing would be to have an alternate layout.So, I create an alternate layout, make sure it's the active one I'm working on, go to document setup, deselect facing pages but - ACK! - it removes the facing pages from the orginal layout as well.I need almost idential layouts: one with spreads, one without. Is there no easy way to do this?

Hi everyone, I need a script to find text by formatting and insert Cross-references to content/Paragraph Text present in a Master page. So, all text found in the document with the formatting attribute paragraph style (e.g:) "Contents" applied must have its own cross-reference - the paragraphs in both places (in the document and master pages) match, but they're not linked. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

@Peter Kahrel , @Eugene Tyson , @Marc Autret  I'm sure this has been asked before, but I could not find a solution. I've never been able to post images to this forum. See https://github.com/Marshall-Brooks/Sandbox/issues/2 for images. I created (with help) a custom confimation script here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/autoclose-alert-message-and-custom-confirm-message/td-p/15255213 I needed the script to dynamically change size. The displayed text might be one line or 3 or 4 paragraphs when the script is called. I added the {multiline=true} parameter. See the link above for the results. I have installed an additional printer and now none of the print presets work. I get the following error message:"Print preset selection failed. Restoring the previous selection."And then nothing happens.Unable to set new presets either.All was working fine until I installed a new printer.Running Indesign 15.02 on a macAny ideas would be appreciated.TIA

I have transferred workspaces from machine to machine numerous times. You simply copy the workspace located under User>Library>Preferences>Adobe ID>Version#>en_US>Workspaces and paste it into the same location on the new machine. Restart the program, and it should be under the workspace dropdown.This is not working for me. I have tried it multiple times and restarted the program/computer, but nothing seems to be working. Has anyone else had this issue?

Hello there, I am trying to export a Indesign file and, while everything seems normal in the process, a window pops up saying there was an error, specifically Error 18….have you ever experienced or are you currently having such an issue? Do you have any suggestion?Thanks a lot for your help, we have been struggling with this since yesterday, it’s not a matter of device nor internet connection (even tho this error seems to be related to the status of the connection, my wi-fi works well), maybe something related to our adobe account? Hi everyone... here I am with another strange request.When I work on a project with a few pages, I create it with single pages and then I place them side by side leaving 1 cm of space between them, so I can see the result at a glance.But if I have a complex project with many pages, I create it using the side by side pages option. But there is a problem, when I export for printing, the page elements on the edges overlap and create problems.My question is this: can a document with side by side pages be dismantled and the pages separated, but leaving them on the same plane? The separation must only move the right and left pages away from each other along the horizontal axis.I leave an example image.I tried some scripts but they don't work

Does anyone have a comprehensive list of invisibles that they could share? 

Hello, I've just reset my InDesign preferences (in case that was the source of my problem) but that did not change anything.Every time I go in "edit > shortcuts", InDesign immediatly stop to respond and I have to force-quit it....  Im on Mac OS Sequoia (and i've just upgrade my OS a few days ago, maybe it's because of this?)Anyone having the same issue ?

Hello there, im working on a file in InDesign where ich now switch all linked images to our CC Libraries. For this i created Libraries in Adobe CC with subfolders for tne different labels and images Now when i want to place from the CC Libraries in InDesign it shows me only the Parent Folder and throws everything in the subfolders together. It looks like a mess and i want to know if this is intended or am i doing something wrong? It does not feel like a good workflow for me to search with my eye for every single image. How do i get the same Folder with subfolders visible in InDesign? Thanks.

Hallo zusammen, ich habe ein Problem. Ich kann seit kurzem nicht mehr aus Indesign pdf´s auch keine interaktiven PDF's exportieren / erstellen. Indesign 25.Vielleicht liegt es am System, derzeit MacOSVentura 13.7, sollte ich auf Sequoia 15.4 updaten?Oder was könnte das ExportProblem aus Indesign sein?Danke vorab für Unterstützung!Beate

InDesign is giving me an Error 39 when publishing online. I have updated my InDesign, tried publishing different files and tried multiple networks and computers (PC and Mac) same error.

Basically what the title says. I have 24 out of 28 pages with textual information, but i am unable to package the document, and my file shows 0 links 

For example, Arial, my fonts Regular, bold, and Italic may come from different versions or providers.Sometimes, in ID, they don't even appear under the same option.So my font management is confusing.I'm all for keeping only fonts from the same version now.Is there a site that packages them together like this, free would be best.Much appreciated.

I am researching a way to streamline a process. I will get a data file with up to 300 columns and over 400 rows in excel. I need a couple of things to happen:Each column needs to be its own page with the corresponding rows info. For the sample, I can do this by creating separate pages and manually putting the data fileds in, but cannot do this for 300+ pages.Can we have the column title (name) information show in said entry? I have attached the pdf sample of what I am looking for, salmon highlight is Column, pale yellow is the row. I have also included the data files I am using. Any help wouled be appreciated.

I need atleast quarter space width non-breaking space. I was thinking of giving a character style to actual non-breaking space and setting its width to 200% but its my last preference. Thanks

For a multi-line edit box control, once the control gains input focus,  within the control or on the screeis there a way to get the current caret (text cursor) positionn? I’m not looking to get the cursor position in the text flow, but rather the cursor's position within the control or on the screen.The kTextEditBoxWidgetBoss includes an ICursorRegion interface, but I’m not sure how to use it. From the functions provided by that interface, it doesn't seem to offer what I need.Has anyone had experience with this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
