I work for a brand, and we noticed that the printed CMYK versions of our Pantone colors weren't matching up very well. So, we ran some tests with CMYK breakdowns from Color Connect, Color Bridge, and Lab colors, using three different printers.  Interestingly, the Lab colors tended to look better in some cases.Why is this?Also, in my swatch palette, I have the Lab colors listed as Spot instead of Process. Does that make a difference? If I change it to Process (since it's already in Lab format), will the color shift? Or is the dropdown just a way to notify the printers that it's a spot color?thanks

Hello,Here is my problem: I have tables where one column contains product references.At the moment, I manually add the URLs for these references by selecting the reference text and then adding the URL via the Hyperlinks panel, but it would save me a lot of time if I could do it automatically.Here’s what it looks like:REF01 | Description | otherInfoREF02 | Description | otherInfo…The URLs are all the same, only the reference at the end of the URL changes. In the example, it would look like this:www.url.com/REF01www.url.com/REF02Is there a solution to import the URLs into my tables automatically?Thanks in advance for your help!

Hallo,ich habe ein neues MacBook mit akutellstem Betriebssystem. InDesign hab ich durchs Backup drauf installiert. Version 2024. InDesign lässt sich nun nicht mehr öffnen. Ich kann es aber auch nicht updaten, da ich bei der Creative Cloud anscheindend keinen "Zugriff auf die Appverwaltung" habe. Ich habe die Cloud über mein Arbeitgeber. Dieser kann sich das Problem aber nicht erklären.  Illustrator und Photoshop funktionieren einwandfrei. Woran kann das liegen?

Bonjour,Je fais face à un problème de MEP sur des phrases en arabe au sein d'un texte en français. Sur Word, tout va bien, les mots en arabe sont dans le bon sens. Mais quand je passe sur Indesign, tous les mots sont inversés (en français, ça donnerait : inversés sont mots les). J'ai cherché l'option Direction du texte mais je ne l'ai nulle part. J'ai essayé d'installer Indesign en version Maghreb ou Moyen-Orient et j'accède à la direction... Mais ça ne change rien, les mots sont toujours inversés. La seule solution que j'ai trouvée, c'est de changer le compositeur dans le menu paragraphe : passer de l'universel au classique. A ce moment, les mots se remettent dans le bon sens mais ce n'est pas très gracieux : il n'y a plus aucune ligature (malgré mes options cochées dans ce sens). Y a-t-il une solution que je n'ai pas identifiée ?Merci de vos conseils !Belle soirée,Sol

I have a two-column layout with running text: 1st column: Text without background2nd column: Paragraph shading How can I control the spacing between the top of the green box and the top of the text while keeping everything inside the column? My main issue is achieving exact spacing above "13" and at the bottom of the green box. I used left and right indents to adjust the text spacing but cannot use "space before" (nothing happens). I know that I can use the offset in "Paragraph Shading," but that would push the shading outside my column. Is there a way to solve this?

Hello InDesign Experts,I’m trying to produce a series of logos using the Data Merge function in InDesign. I have attached an example below to help illustrate the issues. The first issue is with having two lines of text (a Bold font line and a Regular font line). I need them to stay center to the logo regardless of how much text is loaded on each line from the .csv file. I have tried to use an Anchor Object function to push the text up. However, I can not find an option that works. The second issue is with the ability to mass adjust similar text box widths on all pages at once (all the bold lines of text or all the Regular lines of text). Can I universally change these text box size without adjusting the font size from page to page? In my case a script like Fit Text to Frame will not work because it adjusts the size of the font.Thanks kindly, Kevin

I have been working on a document many times and lately everyday and today when opening it, I get this message "cannot place this file. invalid png file indesign" and I cannot export a PDF from it due to that message. Why is this happening suddenly?  What can I do? Please help

Hello,My company has both PC and Mac users who work from a network share. We have discovered we have a huge problem with certain InDesign files and links breaking. The network share we use is listed by IP address (no drive letters for Windows) and we house the images for our catalog there. Whenever a Mac user opens the document and saves it, it immediately breaks almost all of the links on the PC end. However, when a PC user re-links everything and re-saves the file, it's fine when a Mac user opens it. For most of our files, InDesign does a pretty decent job as locating things as volumes\drive\link folder when a Mac users opens it, and then converting to the IP address when a Windows user opens it.For whatever reason, our catalog images in our InDesign files have this broken link problem. Nobody is moving any of the links. The images are in the same folders they've been in for the past several years. I want to stress that this does not occur in every single InDesign file. Hello Community, I'm more or less an InDesign newbie, just learning as I go based on individual project needs. Those projects are typically rare, but this is one that keeps coming back and I want to refine the process as much as possible.I have a booklet that I've put together that pulls data from a .csv and arranges it in a predfined A4 template.  Then, the create merged document duplicates that template and puts two to a page. However, the final booklet needs some section headings and title pages. At the moment my process has been to just leave an extra row in the .csv to make that template section empty so that it can be manually deleted after the merge. And then I manually go through and delete the empty areas and add section headings to each area where there is now a void. And the last step is to then manually drop in these Title or Chapter pages (if you will) between the major "sections". For this I also leave rows empty in the .csv where a collection of records wouldn'

Hi, Is it possible to split a single cell into two columns? I have several cells containing a large amount of text that need to be divided into two columns. How can I achieve this? The reason I need it to be in a table is that some text will have frames, some will have a background, and some will be plain—all while maintaining a continuous flow. Thank you in advance! 

I can open a new document and all is ok, then if i open a new or existing document I have noticed my document 'status bar' has changed to have 2 lines of copy at the top and t 'status bar' at the bottom with document information has vanished.This change remains if I close all windows down to one and only re appears when I open a new document. I do not use the application frame and all seems fine when using the frame.I have uninstalled and gone back to InDesign 20.1 incase it was an update issue, the same results, I've also reset my Adobe InDesign preferences.Any ideas or am I going mad.

HI, Indesign is not loading placed photos after packaging, it just show a gray box. The photos are in the linked files. There is no "?" on the gray box and there is no yellow triangle in the link files. Display in preference is on high quality as well as under object and under view. All are on  high quality. I have turned GPU on and off in preference. I have reinstalled the operating system (Monterey 12.2.1) have reinstalled Indesign several times. It works fine if I go back to CS6 which I have loaded on another computer. Any ideas, this is driving me nuts. Thanks!   [subject renamed for clarity — was "Hi, Indesin"]  

Hello Indesign Community, We have been using Indesign for our work research paper for 3 years now, we have to export it to pdf and upload on our website to make it publicly available. However, we have the font error problems, in this case we mostly use fonts in Thai Language. After exporting, everything looks perfectly fine like in the pic.  However, if we copied&pasted it elsewhere or try to use ctrl+f funtion to look for keywords. We coundn't find a single match as all the fonts are in the wrong orders and abnormal styles as attached some lines,  This causes us lots problens as we want to spread knowledge and info to all audience, but our work has never been showed up on the web browser as it cannot find the matching keywords from the engins to our works.  I tried changing fonts but still have the same problems, FYI, we never have this problems when we use just Microsoft Words and English Words are not affected.  Looking forward to you

Hi all: my manuscript is in Google Docs.  I am downloading in .docx format and then placing that file in InDesign.  In GDocs I used several heading styles in the hope that I could map those to InDesign paragraph styles upon import.  So, for example, on the Import dialog> Style mapping> I'm telling InDesign that "Heading 2" should map to the paragraph style called "Section Title".  But when InDesign brings in the text, Heading 2 does not display as Section Title.  Instead it comes in as Section Title+.  Do I have to go through the whole document, manually select all Section Title text and click "Clear overrides"?  Or is there a quicker way to do it?  For example, is there a way to select all Section Title text in the whole document and clear all overrides with one click?

Previously created documents do not show up on the screen. I can choose the document; it asks to find links; the tool windows open on the desktop, but the document does not. Same thing if I try to open as a copy, or create a new doc. I have uninstalled IDCC and then reinstalled. No changes. Photoshop and AI docs open just fine. Thoughts?

I have a 100+ page InDesign document. I only need to create a pdf of part of it. When I go to the Export Adobe PDF window, the range field does not allow me to insert a page range. I can only export the entire document. I'm new to CC. Older versions provided a range. Am I missing something here?Any help will be appreciated.

I tried to update the software the other day and I'm having issues. How much space is needed to update Adobe Software? Do you need more than 2.5 gb free to do updates?  

In Design spacebar closes app instead of creating a space.  This only in InDesign as it works OK elsewhere

(I've placed this post under InDesign since it's the app I use most often, but it also happens in Illustrator)• At random times (sometimes when I first launch InDesign CC or Illustrator CC and other times after I've been working in the app for a short while) two things occur:• The cursor changes to the hand tool and/or I'm unable to type a space in any Adobe app. So, except for moving the document around with the hand tool, I'm completely unable to do anything. I can't use any of the tools to make image frames, text boxes, etc. AND I can't select any objects, nothing!• The only way I can get use of any tools is to restart my iMac (a brand new Mac, so could be an OS issue (12.0.1.) Then, if I'm lucky I can use the tools for awhile, otherwise, I'm retsarting again and hoping for the best.• I even went so far as to buy a new keyboard, but that hasn't made any difference.As you can imagine, it's frustrating having to keep stopping midway through every project and restarting. ANY help would

Good evening,I can no longer use my space bar to mark spaces between words when I type. I can manually insert a punctuation space but I can't get a space with the space bar. I must have made a wrong setting, does anyone have any ideas?Thank You !Valerie

Hi, newbie here. Please would you mind letting me know if I have set bleed correctly - see first screenshot attached. I dragged the black background to the red line  Am I meant to drag it past that line though? And for the white page on the left, do I to drag the white background out to the red line too? On all my white pages, I don’t have any images sitting close to the page edge so not sure if I need to? I also attach the bleed settings in Document Setup. I set slug to zero as I don’t have any extra info for the printer. I hugely appreciate your help.

I'm in a bit of a pickle. I'm writing a big book of stories, adventure prompts, and optional rules for a popular board game. It's going to be offered as an untagged PDF, a hardcover book, or a softcover book. I'd like to include (as part of the digital PDF purchase) a tagged PDF. I'm just having trouble figuring out how to assign tags to different page elements. Let me explain how I currently think it's supposed to work, based on what I've scoured from the Adobe InDesign User Guide, Adobe Acrobat User Guide, W3C and WCAG website, PDF Association website, Section 508 website, and ISO PDF 1.7 Specification documents. Then, please explain to me how I've gotten it wrong. I'm sure I have, I just don't know what.The PDF 1.7 file type uses tags to help machines know how to convey different kinds of text (among other things) to readers. This is especially good for assistive technology, like screen readers for people who are blind or dyslexic.I can add Tags in manually in Acrobat Pro
