I'm using InDesign 2025, super new to this program in general so I'm sure this is user error but I can't find the answer to my question ANYWHERE. I have a set of pages I'm trying to print out at 6 in x 9 in, I've included crop marks so I know where to cut because naturally it has to be printed on 8.5 x 11 papers. I'm exporting them as "print" pdfs specifically, not interactive pdfs. For SOME reason, when I print them out, they are the wrong size even after accounting for the crop marks (around 6.75 in x 10 in???). As far as I can tell, something about my export settings is allowing the information to be re-scaled or something like that. Please, if anyone can help with this, it's been really frustrating trying to navigate this program.
When I sent a link from Pulish Online Dashboard, I miss the function of download PDF for the customer. Why is that not possible?Br.Carsten Bøwig
Hi everyone,I've tried setting the value for epubAccessibilityConformsTo to "EPUB Accessibility 1.1 - WCAG 2.1 Level AA", but I can't seem to get it quite right: function setEPUBAccessibilityPreferences(){ with(app.activeDocument.epubExportPreferences){ epubAccessibilityConformsTo = "EPUB Accessibility 1.1 - WCAG 2.1 Level AA" epubAccessibilityCertifiedBy = "Certifier" epubAccessibilityCredentials = "Credentials" epubAccessibilityReportLink = "www.report.link" } }; Is there any official documentation for which (string) values are allowed for epubAccessibilityConformsTo?I've only been able to find the unofficial InDesign ExtendScript API Adobe InDesign 2025 (20.0.0.95) Object Model - EPubExportPreference reference which does not give information beyond stating that epubAccessibilityConformsTo takes a string value. When I try function setEPUBAccessibilityPreferences(){ with(app.activeDocument.epubExportPrefe
Hi all, I'm planning to post a bug report on uservoice, but I was hoping I could get a few people to test my demo document and see if they see the same bug. To test: 1. open my attached .indd 2. place your insertion point cursor in the paragraph colored magenta. 3. type a character (what happens? for me the spanning breaks dramatically—see graphic below) 4. type another character (what happens? for me it goes back to normal 5. keep typing (for me it jumps back and forth) I have noticed that if I change the magenta paragraph from using Adobe Paragraph Composer to Adobe Single-line Composer, the problem goes away. But it took me a while to troubleshoot it, so it would be nice to fix it. Anyway, if you have time, please let me know your results, and which version of Indesign and OS you are running. I will link to this post in the bug report so Adobe can read your results too. Thanks. - Mark
Hi,I'm using InDesign CC on a Windows 10 PC, and using Excel 2016 to generate data for a Data Merge operation in InDesign. In amongst the myriad options for saving the data, Excel provides me with these options for saving files into a CSV format:CSV UTF-8 (Comma delimited) (*.csv)CSV (Comma delimited) (*.csv)CSV (Macintosh) (*.csv)CSV (MS-DOS) (*.csv)Depending on which of those options I use I am finding either the data becomes altered by the CSV format, or InDesign rejects the format.I have some cells which have 'special' characters such as the degrees sign '°', or a plus/minus sign '±' (e.g. the cell might have 36° or ±15° or ¼). There are many such symbols I use, and whilst sometimes I add these via the Character Map function in System Accessories, but most usually via the keyboard (for instance, a key combination such as 'Alt+0188' creates a ¼ symbol on a PC).The CSV UTF-8 file retains this 'special' character data, but InDesign rejects the file and tells me "The data source file yo
I'm working on a modest 38-page book in InDesign. I've exported a "v1" PDF and all is fine. I've then made updates and changes to the source InDesign file per my client and when I export my updated PDF (v2), it generates / displays the old PDF (v1) even thought the new file name has a v2 in it. The only way I can get it to work properly is to safe the file with an entirely new name and export that. I've restarted the app, restarted the computer and the problem still exists. InDesign version 20.1 on a Mac running Sonoma 14.6.1. 32GB RAM.
I found the shortcut for storing all documents in a book (set under View Navigation):Ctrl+Shift+Alt+S(This may not be very scientific, as it is possible to save the documents that outside the book)But did not find a command to open or close all documents in the book at once.pper right corner, right click doesn't have this function at all.
Hi All, I'm by no means a scripting genius, this has been entirely created using chat gpt. I know it is possible because I have had it in a workplace previously, but did not steal any intellectual property (i didnt create that one) but would love this to work for efficiencies in my workflow. Script is below. What I need it to do is 1. Create a box, with 'paper' fill2. insert text variable being file name (it needs to auto update if i change the file name then reopen) 3. put the box 3mm above the top left corner of the page 4. put the box on a separate, topmost layer called "FileName" I have had brilliant people help me before, so hoping to be equally lucky this time! Thank you in advance! #target indesign// Ensure a document is openif (app.documents.length > 0) {var doc = app.activeDocument;// Check if the "FileName" layer exists, or create itvar layerName = "FileName";var newLayer;// Try to find the existing layertry
I am about to set my hair on fire and walk across the Long Island Expressway barefoot and blindfolded. I was getting a Missing Font error until I moved the old, old "Document fonts" folder right next to the .indd files I'm editing. Now the error has gone away. That sure ain't what I was raised to accept as The Way Things Work, but as long as the error went away, I'm grateful to whatever forces of the Universe are responsible.
I am using a 2023 MacBook Pro.I have 2 InDesign files (separate chapters of a book) with the same subheading paragraph style in which the font color is set to "Blue."The intensity of the blue is very different between the 2 files - see attached.Once I noticed the difference, I slightly renamed the style that showed as brighter blue and imported it into the the other file. It too showed as the dull shade of blue.I cannot figure out why this is happening. Thanks in advance for any assistance.
How do I align items (images, text boxes, etc) that are on separate pages? For example, a 2 page brochure. I want the images on both pages the same. In InDesign, I can plot out the X Y Axis. I've tried CTRL+shift+V, because that works in other software to paste in teh exact same spot, but it isn't working. Express won't let me select two images on separate pages. Am I missing a simple step?
I am about to rent InDesign after using Publisher for a PDF version of a book which prints my custom images in an asset panel for inline with text use throughout. Pardon I am new to Adobe. Can I please hear if my symbols - which print perfectly and export to PDF clearly -will be translated somehow by Indesign to export to a reflowable epub. (aside,I also have TIFF photos which look great at send to kindle exported as jpeg.) These symbols tho took so much time experimenting to be clear, no other format worked well. If I need to change format tho, please say which formats for symbols inline with text work from import,to export as epub. Thanks so much!
InDesign is refusing to highlight selected text and isn't selecting objects when the pointer is clicked and a selection box dragged around objects. This is proving problematic as I work on a major project. Windows 11, 7950x CPU, 7800XT GPU, latest drivers and updates applied.
Is there a way to get a space (indicated with red arrow) above the first text border on topwhen adding space before, nothing happens
How can I edit a table of contents which I already created?
Hey guys! I was wondering if anyone knew if it's possible to copy and paste information from a table inside Word into a table in Indesign without it inserting all the text into one box? I want all the information I copy from the Word document to perfectly copy across all the boxes in the table in Indesign. However, it only inserts all the numerical text into ONE box instead across multiple boxes in the table in Indesign. I am attempting to speed this process of information input, because manually doing it takes up so much time. Thank you for any help!
Why do I have to wait for CC library to load every single asset so I can relink? It takes so long! Why are they alphabetized? They don't even show in the groups I specifically created for them.I also can't even search for the item while relinking.Uploading my assets here was the worst mistake. Please fix this.
Hello,I am designing a small book using InDesign that will be for print. I am using this color profile (requested by the print service): PSO Uncoated v3 (FOGRA52).However, I noticed that when I view it as a PDF, all the black colors seem to appear as dark brown (both text and graphics). Why is this happening? Will it also look like that in the final result?Due to my inexperience with print design, I'm not sure if this is normal or not.
I know about backing up IDML files, but for large files, I think it would be faster to copy the indd file directly.I want to copy the current indd file directly to the “Backup” directory in the same level directory and rename it.Like this:aa.inddAfter the backup:... \Backup\2025-03-03-aa.indd Some of the code below is for backing up IDML files and it works fine.I want to add copy indd file to Backup and change the name .Please advise how to modify it.Thanks a lot.var myDate = new Date(); var myYear = myDate.getFullYear(); var myMonth = ("0" + (myDate.getMonth() + 1)).slice(-2); // Add leading zero var myDay = ("0" + myDate.getDate()).slice(-2); // Add leading zero var myFormattedDate = myYear + "-" + myMonth + "-" + myDay; /** * Creates a folder inside of the active document’s parent folder * @ param the active document * @ return the folder’s path * */ saveIDML(); function saveIDML() { //creat Backup folder var myPathName = app.activeDocument.filePath.fsName + '/' + 'Bac
Hello,I am using Creative Cloud in a new user I created only for this*, and when I open the Indesign file there I cannot import or relink the images, it just shows "Import failed". The document and all the links are in dropbox, so it shouldn't be a problem to import them, right? -------*I had to create a new user in my MacBook Pro to be able to use my Intuos tablet. In my normal user, where I have everything, there has been a problem between some app in my computer and the Intuos tablet, and the tablet doesn't work anymore, and the only solution given by Apple is uninstalling all the apps I have there (time tracking, professional software, password software, banking, emails...) and install all from new on a new user. This would create havoc, so I decided to create a new user only to work with Creative Cloud apps.
Hello! I'm trying to make a table style that makes my table look like the 2nd table in the image, but everything I've tried so far in table styles looks like the 1st table. Specifically, the issue I'm having is that the Top Left Cell of the table defined in the style uses the header style with the gray fill, but I want it to have no fill to match the rest of the left column, as well as no stroke on the left side of the cell. I've tried defining a cell style for the Header row and a separate cell style for the Left Column, but it seems the header cell style always overwrites the left column style. Even more bizzarre, one of my coworkers was able to create a table style that works like the 2nd table, but when we repeated the steps on my Mac they didn't work and gave me the 1st table. I'm just utterly confused on why this is happening. Does anyone know how I can define a table style to make the tables look like the 2nd table instead of the 1st?
Hi there, Is there a way for me to seamlessly embed animations made from After Effects into InDesign? Preferably without the playback controls at all. I'm wanting to animate a masthead design and the animations on InDesign are very limited. I have done the following:Created an animation on After EffectsUsed Media Encoder to export the animation as an .MP4.Embedded the .MP4 file into InDesignPublished Online. The video plays fine but there's a couple of issues:1. The playback controls are always there.2. The video has a solid background even though I toggled the Transparency Grid off on After Effects. I'm wanting the masthead to animate automatically on the page load and then remain there whilst the user is on that page - if this makes sense? Thanks!
Hi,I am working on a print project using InDesign. For this project, I am using graphics that were created in Illustrator. They where all imported as AI files into InDesign. I’ve noticed that in the link panel a couple of graphics have transparancy applied to them. From my limited understanding of print media, there shouldn't be any transparency. My question is: should I go over all my graphics and adjust them in AI (Object > Flatten Transparency), or will it update automatically when exporting the file as PDF/X-1?Thank you very much for any help!
what would be the best way to create my list of text along with photoshop imagesto use as data merge in indesign?
Is there a way to customize glyphs within InDesign? Specifically, I'd like to lengthen the en dash and reduce the asterisk in an Open Type font.
