InDesign

Hello, I've just updated to InDesign 2025 and I'm experiencing pretty severe lag when trying to do anything. From switching view modes to simply clicking on an object and moving it, it take a half second to do anything. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? I've used the Adobe suite for years, and never had this issue. I'm running it on a MacBook Pro 14-inch, 2021, M1 chip, 64gb RAM, and 1TB storage.

Sorry, I feel guilty.I don't know how to express it.Translations are sometimes wrong because of language differences. The idea is actually very simple, but very useful.Hopefully the images and scripts share a script.There is three cases: Fit  to  columns, type area( layout area? ) and page margins If it's a text frame, it aligns to the column width.If it's an image, it's scaled up or down to the column width.  In my sample, pages 2-8, 1-3 scenarios are provided.

A recent update seems to have left me with a beta version of Indesign. I have popups like 'Generative Expand beta'. I’m not a casual user, I use Indesign for paid work so don't want beta stuff. Also I'm quite competent so don't need 'ai' doing stuff for me. Perhaps we need ‘ai’ and ‘non ai’ update options? Sorry if I sound a bit annoyed as I don't know if Adobe read or reply on this forum. I see others have posted issues with different unwanted features. Advice for how to get rid of or disabling beta features (on an iMac) would be appreciated.

I was trying to create a pdf with some short videos included that I could send to clients. I didn't realize that the videos I watched where you can export videos included in a PDF were old and that this was no longer possible (at least to my knowledge). So if there isn't a way export the document with the video included, why is there even an option to import videos? It's like going to a restaurant, ordering from the menu and they tell you they actually don't make that dish. If that's the case, shouldn't that option just be removed?

I have inherited some documents from a client where all the text frames are not threaded. When I click the out-port of a frame and then hover over the area of the in-port frame that I want to thread it to, I see the cursor change to the thread icon, but when I click, it creates a blank text frame and threads to it. All frames are on the same layer and unlocked. I am showing all frames but I am unable to target the in-port of the frame I want to link to. Is there a way to display the in/out ports without hovering over them? Is there something I am missing in doing what should be a simple task?Thanks in advance for any help.

Can anyone help me create a script for InDesign? I've tried a few things, but I couldn't get everything to work properly or without causing errors.How it should work: Objective: Create a circle over an item. This circle will represent the correct answer to the test questions I'm creating.I select the text with itens (alternatives) and run the script. The script will ask me which answer is correct. I choose an answer (from 5 options), and it will create a circle over the selected item and anchor this circle right at the beginning of the text.In the future, I'll apply a condition (Conditional Text) to this anchor, so I can hide the answer whenever I want.

Hello, Coders,I'm trying to create an InDesign Extension that will allow me to hold buttons/Links to some of my JavaScripts. However, with ChatGPT, I can create an Extension, but it does not display any buttons/Links, I tried a lot, but nothing works. These images are not linked files are a placed image would normally be. Instead, they seem to be completely embedded within the InDesign file; exporting as IDML causes the raw image data to be exported within XML itself. The itemLink property is null for the Image object.Searching in the scripting reference leads to the Image.exportForWeb and Image.exportFile methods. However, when I tried the exportForWeb function, it failed silently and returned null.The exportFile method worked but it takes as input the export format. Hi, I am working on my first book layout in InDesign.I was told that hanging widows should be avoided. However, does it matter when there is only a little text, like in the example? I can't adjust the width of the columns. If I have a hanging widow (right), it looks a bit nicer, but if I don't (left), it feels a bit odd.What makes the most sense for my example? Or just in general tables with little text?

Hello,I'm setting a one-page print document, in Minion Pro defining an organization's mission and vision. The last section lists the organization's core values. The subhead, "Our values" is in small caps, and below it, each value (one word) is italicized, followed by a brief description in roman. Is there any agreed-upon convention included or excluding punctuation (ie. period or colon), after the italicized word? I am working on a book that has 114 pages. I have two files. One is titled "a" and the other "b". The "b" file was the first file I created. It has 114 pages with 58 spreads. File "a" is the second file that was created and also has 114 pages with 58 spreads. I created file "a" to re-place images that turned out exceptionally blurry when I printed file "b". In file "a" I also reordered some of the images and then edited the contents page numbers to reflect the reordering that occured. When I initially printed file "b" 12 blank pages were added, so instead I added 12 photo pages, 6 extra spreads. So file "b" was initially 102 pages and 52 spreads. When I go to file > print booklet > booklet type set to 2-up perfect bound > signature size 16 > preview, I have no extra pages added. File "a" is file "b" edited. When file "a" is open I go to file  file > print booklet > booklet type set to 2-up perfect bound > signature size 16 > preview I have 15 blank pages ad

Hi all... I made my custom color profiles and synced them from bridge to all aps.Indesign cleary show that profiles are synced with others. When I open new file, and go to "Asign profile" option, working color profiles aren't the ones that are synced, but sRGB and US Web coatedIs this some kind of bug, or I don't know what I'm doing after 25 years of working with color profiles?Tnx

Hi everyone, I'm trying to save myself many hours of work, and hope you can help out. The below image was shot on a marble slab, and there are many others like it. PSD files, when complete, will be placed in an InDesign layout with text and design elements. The Designer is going to want to nudge things around to fit the layout and will want to make sure all the marble backgrounds of all the images match. My idea is this:Make one layer of precise masking of the elementsMake a second layer below with a softer mask for the shadowsSet the lower layer to "darken" blending modeIn InDesign, place this photoshop image on top of a blank marble slab and repeat for the other images. To do this, I need the "darken" blending mode to be represented in InDesign. Is this possible? Right now the lower layer is not carrying the blending mode over to InDesign. Using layer styles shadows in Photoshop or InDesign is not an option since they don't create cast shadows. 

To keep one of my plugins working, Typefitter, it was necessary to uninstall InDesign 19 (2024) and reinstall InDesign 18 (2023). How do I find and install In Design 18?Thanks to those who know more than me,Joe 

Is the Share for review feature down in InDesign? The program keeps crashing when I try to create a file and existing ones are no longer available to those I have shared with. Using the new 2025 version, Windows 11 Thanks!

Both lists are separate stories.Every line of text in its own paragraph.Each block is already numbered.It is possible to obtain this result?  

I have fonts managed in Adobe Fonts and used consistently throughout my InDesign docs. One day they're fine, the next week they're missing with no option to activite or replace in the "Find/Replace Font" menu option, a couple days later they are back as if they never left. I go to fonts.adobe.com to reactivate them and they all have active status.  Please help me with these questions so I can avoid these constant annoyances.Why do fonts randomly disappear, then reappear in my docs and menus?Why are fonts labeled OTF in my InDesign fonts them, then the OTF label disappears the next time I open the doc? Could this be caused by a VPN or similar situation? This is a huge problem for my team and I. We are using V20.0.1

The attached 'Correct.indd' file displays the correct color (#2DC3D0) in the circle, but when I open a new Indesign file and try to use the same exact color, they look very different (as shown in the 'Incorrect.indd' file). I have checked that both color settings are exactly the same, as seen in this screenshot:I have also checked that the Transparency Blend Space is set to "Document RGB" in both files. Why do they look different??? Please help! Thank you

Since the latest update of InDesign (v 20.0) the following error occurs in certain documents (not all): If I want to change the margins on certain master pages that I have created via “Layout”-“Margins and Columns”, this does not work. Immediately after clicking on “Layout”, InDesign hangs up completely, the window with the error report appears & InDesign crashes completely.     <Title renamed by MOD>  

Hi all, "Share for Review" InDesign 24Anyone have an idea on how to keep the unresolved pins intact after the content is updated?My client wishes to see content updates after each session. When I update content through the share dialog, it creates a new link/content, but the comment pins that I have not gotten around to do not follow the new content instance. I can view the earlier version to resolve the comments, but the client doesn't want to flip-flop between the instances, which I understand. Surely I am missing something.Thanks for any wisdom.-Gary
