Hi,   I'm working with a student on layouting a scholarly journal and we keep running in the same issue: when importaing a word document and applying a paragraph style, the endnotes retain the original font choice from Word and don't get updated with the font set in the pargraph style. When I clear overrides, we get the paragraph style font but also lose italics, so that's not a feasible option. This appears to only be an issue in endnotes. It also happens when endnotes are imported as static text.   Any help would be greatly appreciated.     <Title renamed by MOD>

Hallo zusammen   in InDesign habe ich ein Portfolio (DIN A4, 34 Druckbögen) erstellt. Die Inhalte sind unifarbene Füllflächen, Textelemente, Planzeichnungen (PDF) und Bildmaterial (JPG). Wenn ich dieses ohne weitere Einstellungen als PDF exportiere erhalte ich ein Dokument mit 130 MB. Mit den Feineinstellungen, wie bikubische Neuberechnung der Inhalte oder generelle dpi-Dichte kenne ich mich nicht sehr gut aus.   So bin ich auf der Suche nach Tipps zur generellen Einstellung im PDF-export, welche helfen, die Dateigröße etwas geringer zu halten, die Qualität der Inhalte des Portfolios allerdings nicht gänzlich leiden lassen.   english: Hello everyone In InDesign I have created a portfolio (DIN A4, 34 sheets). Thanks to everyone who posts here.  I've found a wealth of information.  Thanks to NitroPress for the step-by-step tutorial and helpful book. After reading these threads and much experimentation, I was able to get a full-screen image to acceptably display in the Kindle Previewer for the phone, tablet, and Kindle on portrait view.  HOWEVER, when I change to landscape view, the image gets cropped rather than resized.   There must be a way to do this since InDesign exports the cover page correctly, i.e. it shows the image as big as it can given the current screen orientation.  Anyone know the setting or exact CSS code I need to change to have the image resize for landscape mode.  See screenshots.

Hi there, First of all, apologies if this has already been asked (checked but couldn't find anything similar). I am trying to export an Ingram cover template in INDD to png, pdf or jpg with all the blue and pink areas marked as Indesign displays them on Normal view. I can only get it to export the Preview version, that is, the white with the crop marks and little else. I have checked the export options to see if I could change the view I want exported, but I cannot find it. I have previously worked with Ingram templates in PNG because they are more PS-friendly to do heavy work on images, so I guess that means there must be a way to get Indesign to export the Normal view. I'm making a lot of personalisation to invitations. Few days ago I updated Indesign to 2019 version and it started a big problem with data merge. I'm creating data in excel and it was saved as a tab-delimited txt file. When I do the data merge on pages with comma it only shows part of text before comma... I tried saving with quotation marks and it didn't change anything.How can I solve this problem?for example:data looks like this:saved to tab-delimited txt file and after data mege I go file like this:

Hi all,    I am having an issue with my indesign display. when zooming and out on pages my text and object boxes become offset and it's affecting my ability to see everything clearly. I have to keep zooming our or in to reset the page. Anyone come across a fix for this ? any help is appreciated as I'm on a deadline and this is slowing me down big time!!    see screenshot. Hi,    I've exported my PDF from Indesign and sent it by email  When i look at the preview in the email, some pictures and icons have been replaced by a white box or have been shown in a black backgroud   But when i download the PDF and open it, all the pictures/icons look normal.    What's wrong with the preview please ?    I saw that for the 3 that are problematic, they all have the brown box in Indesign but all the others don't...     <Title renamed by MOD>

Es wird bei Uppercase automatisch ß in SS umgewandelt, auch wenn der Font über ein ẞ (Versaleszett) verfügt. Es wär toll wenn beides möglich wäre: ß wird zu ẞ wenn vorhanden, wenn nicht dann SS.

Soweit alles gut.Jetzt meinten Kollegen, dass man Artikelnummer nicht raus kopieren kann.Daraufhin hatte ich dies selbst versucht und  tatsächlich, man kann die Zahlen nicht markieren.Dann hatte ich die Zahlen aus der Tabelle gelöst, da ich dachte es hängt an der Tabelle, aber nein, auch jetzt kann man die Nummern nicht markieren.Habt ihr eine Ahnung woran das liegen kann? oder ist es schlichtweg nicht möglich.

Hello, Im trying to create a script where it lists all links in the file. Hallo, ich arbeite mit InDesign CC 2024 (19.5) komplett in Deutsch. Nun habe ich von einem Kunden eine Vorlage erhalten (als InDesign und IDML-Datei), die ich weiter nutzen soll. Leider aber kann ich die Sprache unter Zeichen > Sprache nicht auf deutsch umstellen. Unter Voreinstellungen > Wörterbuch steht "Deutsch 2006" drinnen. Aber unter Bearbeiten > Rechtschreibprüfung > Benutzerwörterbuch kann ich nur französisch einstellen, ein anderes Wörterbuch wird mir nicht angezeigt. Nachdem ich diese Datei nun geöffnet habe, wird für alle neu erstellten Dateien (Leerdateien) mir auch nur noch das englische Wörterbuch angeboten. Das lässt sich auch NICHT ändern, wenn ich unter Bearbeiten > Rechtschreibprüfung > Benutzerwörterbuch deutsch einstelle. Ich habe InDesign bereits deinstalliert und neu installiert - ohne Ergebnis. Was ist passiert und wie kann ich deutsch wieder als Benutzerwörterbuch einstellen???? Danke für einen Tipp

Hi everyone,   I was trying to port our plugins to the new CS20 SDK and identified that ISectionCmdData.Set() requires two new parameters. NonHiddenStartPageUID and NonHiddenStartPageNumber. When I try to access an existing section (ISection) and retrieve this data, I can retrieve the NonHiddenStartPageUID using mySection.GetNonHiddenStartPageUID() along all the other required parameters of the section such as ContinueFromPrevSection, OffsetFromPrevSection, StartPageNumber, etc.   But when I try to access mySection->GetNonHiddenStartPageNumber(); it crashes givig me the following error.   Exception thrown at 0x00007FFA1B237446 (Sections.rpln) in InDesign (Prerelease).exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation writing location 0x0000000000000001.Can someone help me to find a solution for this problem?     <Title renamed by MOD>

Hello, My problem is that when I apply a paragraph style, it does not apply the proper effect.  For example,  I select text that is say Arial regular 12 pt grey and create a new style.  When I apply the style to a paragraph, the text becomes Arial Bold 12 pt green.  If I go into the style settings, the style is set at Arial Regular grey, but it appears as Arial bold in the document.  It doesn't seem to effect the size, just weight and color.   This is not happening with character styles, only paragraph.  I thought it was a bad font, but I've tried it with a couple of them and it is happening with all of them.   I've tried deleting preferences, restarting and opening a new file, but none worked.   PLEASE HELP...I HAVE A JOB DUE TODAY! Thank you.

I've been scrolling through these free templates that indesign offers before opening a document. So i wanted to try a few out and in the past this worked, but now whenever i click 'download', nothing happens. I've see more topics about this and that i have to contact customer support about this error, but i can't seem to reach customer support in any way and i get redirected to this 'default problems' page. Anyone who can help me out here?

Hi there,   I don't know if I accidently switched it off or it is missing in cc 2021 now but i cannot duplicate drag pages to where i need them anymore - in the pages window. It is really frustrating, the copy page ends up as the last page and then i drag it up to where i need it. Alt duplicate works with objects within the spread however. Hello,  I'm trying to create a list that will follow from a heading without a number. Here's an example: HEADING  1.1       ifbajibvjsnalj1.2      bvljfbnlajvndsj1.3      andsvjonavaj ANOTHER HEADING 2.1     ansvnaljnvvn2.2    fn;okk;mfv;kfma2.3    vn;akofvv;k  ANOTHER HEADING AGAIN 3.1      asdnlsnokjsnvsko;vn3.2      adf;vpadfm;kmvkf   Is there a way of doing this?  It seems that as soon as you lose the number in the heading when you enter Paragraph Styles, the numbers in the list follow on from each other.  I'm by no means an advanced Indesign user. I'm an architect, but use Indesign to put doc's together. So, have a pretty sketchy knowlegdge of the programme. So, please, no super techy answers!  Thanks so much!

Pour moi, chaque mise à jour rend leurs logiciels de plus en plus insupportables.Les panneaux disparaissent sans raison, et lorsqu'on veut revenir aux configurations classiques indispensables, on se retrouve avec des changements totaux qui ne ressemblent à rien. Honnêtement, Adobe devient un véritable désastre. Entre les crashs logiciels, la latence, les bugs, et les nouvelles fonctionnalités complètement inutiles et constamment buguées, l'expérience utilisateur se dégrade de jour en jour, que ce soit sur InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator ou Acrobat. Heureusement, je n'utilise pas Première Pro et After Effects, sinon mon PC passerait probablement par la fenêtre.Ce qui est encore plus frustrant, c'est de payer 70€ par mois pour un support qui ne sert à rien et des logiciels de mauvaise qualité. I have an image that I converted to a button, when clicked on it opens a larger version of the image.  The original 'button' has two smaller images on top (this is something I do frequently) when I test it in EPUB (like I always do) it works and looks fine.  However, when I export to PDF (interactive, as I always do) for some reason, today the smaller images are not showing though interactivity works fine.  I have completely recreated this and it is still not working.  I have attached the files.   I posted another strange issue this morning, I am not sure why I am having these strange issues suddenly, could it be an update or something?  I am using Abode online on a PC.   Thanks! Hello everyone, I have a document with two columns of text side by side that spans many pages. I need to anchor these columns to each other so that if I add a line of more of text to one the other will move down the same number of lines so that they continue to be in alignment. How can I do this? Just in case this is relevant both columns are threaded accross the multiple pages of the document (In other words, the right column on page 1 flows to the right column on page 2 and then to page 3, and so on. The left column on page 1 flows to the left column on page 2 and then to page 3, and so on). Thank you in advance for your help.
