InDesign

To my great dissapointment and frustration InDesign has a very slow performance. Every time I try to do any action/move/ absolutely anything the "beach ball" appears and stalls me for 5-10 seconds. So far I have tried, unistalling-installing the program, resetting prefereces changing color profiles and monitor settings and absolutely NOTHING works. Please Adobe... find a solution!!! Im running  InDesign 2021 (16.3.2) on Mac OS Big Sur (11.5.1) annoying slow performance     {Renamed by MOD}

For the last week, I have noticed that my screen flickers when working in InDesign. As I click within the document, the screen will flicker, and at times, it goes completely black.  I have 2 external monitors, and the flickering happens on both monitors.   I have read through the forum and tried turning off the GPU Performance in preferences, but that only made things worse. I also tried turning off the page ruler and that made no difference. Finally, I updated to the latest version of Sonoma (14.6.1) in case there was a bug fix. Nothing has worked.   Please help! I work in InDesign 95% of my day and the screen flickers are giving me headaches - not to mention incredibly annoying.   I have a Mac Mini Apple M2 Pro Sonoma 14.6.1   Both monitors are: ASUS ProArt Display PA278QV Professional Monitor - 27-inch, IPS,QHD (2560 x 1440), 100% sRGB, 100% Rec. 709, Color AccuracyΔE < 2, Calman Verified, ProArt Preset, ProArt Palette   InDesign 19.5   Thank yo

I created an InDesign template for my printed photography portfolio, which worked great, no problems. Now I'm trying to share a PDF of the portfolio I created with contact around the country who I can't meet in person. I've figured out how to create a PDF with the correct sizing and layout of pages versus spreads. The PDF I exported appears to have correct color management, colors look the way the should. However I'm interested in using Adobe's Publish Online as it looks like it may be simpler for my clients to access, but when I look at the published document on the Adobe site, the colors are all washed out, indicating a color management issue. I'm not sure where the issue is occurring, especially as the PDF's I exported look correct.Indesign CC 2015, OS 10.11.6 Jpgs placed into Indesign document as sRGB, Color Settings RGB set for sRGB.Any thoughts appreciated!

InDesign's numbering feature seems to only support paragraph styles in connected text boxes by default.In fact, sometimes we have to set automatic numbering for paragraphs in separate text boxes.How to solve this problem?Thank you.

When I paste an object on a page I need to reposition it to get to an exact X and Y position. I am doing this manually on a few hundred pages because the pasted object never falls in the right position, and to alter the X and Y each time is very time consuming.Is there a scripting solution that will allow me to click on the object and run the script so that it positions the object to the desired X/Y coordinates? I cannot find one that has already been written.  In summary, I want to click on the object and then run a script that positions it at  X = 105.75mm and Y = 76.754mm. Can anyone help please? 

 I have a master page:var master = doc.masterSpreads.itemByName("B-Parent");I want that as a new page after my last page. I dont want that new page have that assigned master page "B-Parent", I want that new page be a copy of the master-page, having all items the master page has itself, but not the Items that the master-page inherits from its master-page:So, if B-Parent has some text-frames and and an image and has itself the A-Parent as master which has some background etc., the new page should end up mastered by A-parent (B-Parents master) and should have a copy of B-Parents text-frames and its image.How can I do that?var master = doc.masterSpreads.itemByName("B-Parent"); var newPage = app.activeDocument.pages.add(); /* ... how can I copy the content of master into newPage? ... */ newPage.appliedMaster = master.appliedMaster;

Hello! I have read previous discussions on issues when the smart guides options gets grayed out due to accidental selection of "snap to document grid". I am wondering if there is a possibility for other commands to deactivate my smart guide. I have retrieved an idml layout file from work and it does not work for that file. My smart guides are working for my other indd documents. I am also curious what the green boxes grids are? Thanks in advance to any help!

Hi All,I have a word manuscript which was received from customer as .docx file; when I flow .docx file into the indesign we found many Unamed Character Style is present in the Character Style Pallete (see attached screenshot). This is happening when we flow .docx file only and no problem in .doc file. could anyone suggest what is the root cause of the issue. Regards,Manidurai

The title says it all.   When I copy a text from another document (pptx, word or any other), there is always an empty line left at the end of the text frame (see attached), which I have to delete.   Since I (might) have OCD, I always make my documents tidy and these last empty line makes me sooo enraged.   Any solutions? I am begineer in-design and trying to explore this tool for my project needs. I come to know that extended script tool is good to get started with in-design scripting but when I tried a simple jsx file for document creation I am getting following bug "undefined is not an object". If there is any references we need to give of any files/libraries to make it working.     Please help

I'm a newbie and having a tough time with typing text over an image I've placed in a box.  It's a scenic picture and as if it was a postcard, I just want to type the name of the place.  I've tried arranging the boxes but send backward bring to front etc is all greyed out.  I've spent HOURS on what should be a very simple thing. Please help!

Hi, I'm getting an xml:lang error code in my epub file. Any ideas how to get rid of it without resorting to the code. I have managed to avoid opening up my epubs and managed to correct in the InDesign. From Google I understand that its a language issue and I've gone through all the style sheets and changed them to the same language. I've also read it could be a word that is the problem.  Anything that helps will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Dear All,I'm a newbie for Adobe InDesign, recently I have a project for make a tabloid, however when I start with create a New Documents as a Tabloid with 4 pages & 2 column and then Turn-On Facing Page in Document Setup, the first Page (Page 1) and the Last Page (4) both not facing page as per shown on Screen Shot below.How to setup all page are Facing Page as I will planning to print in both side of papers.Please advise.Best regards,

Hi, i have a table with 3 columns and one row. on cell has a number, next is copy, and next and icon.as you can see below. I have situations in which the copy runs two lines.  how can i set the height of my table that starts with the number 18 to match my cell with the number 17, i have table styles and cell styles set up. i just don't know how do i set a cell height. The art directors I work with use an InDesign template to select various crops for each image. (such as 1:1, 9:16, etc for various outputs). The template has the crop boxes preset and they move the master image around within each box to set the placement of the crop they want. They don't want to change the process in InDesign as the doc is used for other things also I'm trying to find a way to transfer these into my working image in photoshop as paths or masks so once retouching is complete I can run an action to automate the output of the various crops. Currently I have to manually apply all the various crops to the working file by eye. Its often 3-5 crops acorss 80+ images so really hoping to find some shortcuts  Thanks

I love InDesign's Share for Review feature. It makes it quick and easy to communicate with stakeholders and to leave comments where needed. However, I frequently find myself in a situation where I really want to leave a comment straight from the application – without first uploading the document and navigating to the website, only to try to find the spot I want to comment on online. Rather, just opening the Review panel and leaving a comment from there (with a pin or one of the other tools) would be sooo much easier! A few examples I often find myself struggling with: - I find a typo but don't have authorisation to change the document without client approval (text replace tool to suggest a corrected version). - I want to take some creative freedoms but need client approval (e. g. using the pin tool to drop a note what liberties I took).     <Title renamed by MOD>

Changing the font in the character panel and in the "Advanced Workspace" top left panel  does not effect a permanent change even within the same text box. I've disabled Minion through Font Book. I've searched my drive and thrown it away. It just won't die.   <Title renamed by MOD>

Havia um comando no InDesign que quando vc importava um PDF com várias páginas ele importava e criava as páginas que faltavam para completar a importação. É isto? Ou eu estou confundindo com textos importados que ele cria páginas para inserir o resto dos textos???

When attempting to export the PDF file on Windows 10 22H2 using InDesign, I encounter the following error: "Failed to Export the PDF file.Possible cause of failure is present on spread with page number "1"."I've found solutions to this issue on forums, but they were all for Mac users. I'm seeking guidance on how to resolve this on Windows.
