InDesign

My InDesign files are printing and rendering PDF's with two sets of crop marks - never had this problem before.I have bleed set up in Document Setup - 0.125". I end up with an innner and outer set of crop marks - very strange.How did this happen and what am I overlooking?Thanks!

Hey guys,Creating a new post to see if anyone can help me to sort out an issue with a script. Just to give you all a bit of context - @m1b helped me to put together a script that reduces font size and I added in some more codes to redefine Paragraph and Character styles as well, but only if there are no manual overrides on text. So, in case of any override, none of the styles are redefined to preserve formattting. So far so good. The problem is that, in case of no overrides found in the document, the script keeps lopping and nothing happens. Could you please help me to figure out why? I haven't seen this done but hope that it can. On the left is how InDesign handles superscript characters by default, which is clumsy because they don't share the same elevated baseline and they vary in size. On the right is how I wold like for the characters to appear, on the same elevated baseline and the same size. In both examples the "3" and hashtag don't need to be massaged because they have the correct elevated baseline and size by default. I want to change the †, ‡, and ¶ characters only. As we know, the superscript size and position are controlled by the percentages in the Preferences/Advanced Type dialogue. I've used GREP to automate a few things but this is above my skill level. Is there a way, perhaps in GREP, to target specific characters to change these default size and position percentages? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello everyone, I am trying to create a table of contents for a report I am designing. I am using paragraph styles in order to do so, but I don't want to include the entire paragraph in the table of contents, maybe only 1-5 words. Is there a way to do this automatically? Or do I have to manually edit the table of contents?Thanks in advance!

Hi Everyone, I've been playing with GPT to make a script that could address a lot of the tedium and time wasting going on when I'm having to save large amounts of material.It's farily basic but if anyone has somes idea to improve functionality I'm happy to look at it, for now though I didn't want to make it too complicated. Main functions are to:Save PDF's based on a selected PDF Preset (so make that first, obviosuly). Save JPEGS, 72ppi, RGB. You can change those in the script, but I'm considering adding some options fot that int he interface later on. Run a selected script. These can be a little iffy if the script your applying has it's own dialogs. Still haven't found a great way to stop issue on that end. Apply these functions to either the current document, or all documents that are opened (lots of big documents can take a while to process, but better then doing it all manually)Also a checkbox to save and close documents as a clear sign that everyhting is f

I followed the most recent instructions to replace the HFS style path with the POSIX style path in the data source file on my Mac.  I still get an error message that the data source references a missing image.  It is not pulling in any of my pictures as it did in the older versions of InDesign.  This is highly frustrating as I am trying to build a directory with profile images and have done this for years without any issues until this latest version of ID.   Please provide any additional information to get through this.  As it states at https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/data-merge.html I have changed my old file path fromMacintosh  HD:Users:name:Library:CloudStorage:OneDrive:SA_Partner Photos:filename.pngto/Users/name/Library/CloudStorage/OneDrive/SA_Partner Photos/filename.png 

Working in InDesign. I need to take a 2 page spread and duplicate it 365 times, but I can only duplicate one copy at a time. Is there a way to duplicate at all once?

I tried my best but somehow I seem to be unable to get this script running the way I want to.I've got a text which contains several images, or rather: the file-names are given in the text and I want to replace them with the actual pictures.I did manage to extract the file-names and wrote the name into a "new File", using a for loop. At my job, at a large metropolitan area transit organization, I am currently attempting to convert our bus schedules from inaccessible, text frame based pdfs to pdfs that are fully tagged and where the schedules are in navigable, accessible table structures. The documents are designed in InDesign. Our Graphic Designer and Desktop Publisher will be the ones utilizing my design/ template to update and author new schedules so I am trying to make the process as automated and “built in” as possible. I have successfully converted the current design into a tagged and tabled document with a few issues. The issue I am asking for help with concerns a document I am designing that has a schedule table that spans two pages. The header row for the table has anchored text frames as text ( the design I am working with has table header labels that are at 45 degree angles and don’t fit into the table). Hallo Community,ich hab seit einer Woche das Problem, dass InDesign entweder schon direkt beim starten der Anwendung, oder danch beim Öffnen einer vorhandenen oder neuen Datei abstürzt.  Versionen sind mac OS Sonoma 14.5 und InDesign 19.5 (wobei auch jeweils eine ältere Version getestet wurde, Fehler bleibt bestehen).Versuche bisher waren eine neue Installation von Indesign, ein starte im sicheren Modus um andere Programme auszuschließen, ein komplettes Löschen der Adobe Cloud mit allen Applikationen und anschließende Neu-Installation und auch ein Zurücksetzten auf Werkseinstellungen und Übertragung per Back-Up.  Gibt es mit diesen Versionen evtl. bekannte Probleme oder hat jemand weitere Lösungsideen die mich voran bringen können? Vielen Dank schon einmal für mögliche Ideen.Luca

I'm unable to successfully export a 56-page InDesign file in epub format. I keep getting this error message: "Error Formatting image '101.png'. System may be low on memory or disk space." for each page.

Hello everyone,I am currently working an illustrated book/encyclopedia (part of a TTRPG role-playing book). Our authors and illustrators use OneNote to compile content and appreciate the ability to organize texts and images into distinct sections (e.g., history, geography, etc.). However, integrating this content into InDesign is a manual process for me, as I haven't found a way to directly connect OneNote and InDesign. It's often inefficient an repetitive copy-pasting, especially when updates are made to the original content. Would anyone have suggestions for improving our workflow? We're particularly interested in maintaining the tabbed organization for the authors. We're open to changing our tools or processes, but due to our small team size and tight schedules, we cannot wait for all authors to complete their texts before starting the InDesign work. Thank you very much for your help!

We have a INDD file that was exported to PDF (interactive), and then published online. The hyperlinks all work in the INDD file, and they work in the PDF file, but when we post it to the web some links work but many do not. When we download the PDF off of our website, all of the links work.  These are hyperlinks that take you to other pages within the same document. We use this method in many, many files and have never run into this issue before. The file was created in Version 16.0.1, and we have now updated to V.16.1.  We tried the following in the INDD file:1. Deleting, and re-linking some of the hyperlinks in the hyperlink panel (no luck)2. Deleting the hyperlink destination, creating a new hyperlink destination, and re-linking; this also didn't work. 3. Exporting to PDF(print) with box checked to include hyperlinks4. Saving as and IDML file, and then resaving a fresh INDD file Thanks in advance for any suggestions! This is a real head-scratcher,

This happens a lot. I attempt to remove unused swatches, and some can't be deleted, the trash icon grayed out in the Swatches panel. This has happened from CS6 through the current CC 2018 build of InDesign and includes jobs with no linked assets. I know I'm not alone because this issue is shared by many in my workplace. Help?

Liebe Community,ich habe hier ein Dokument mit einem CTA unten. Dort sollen 3 Buttons stehen, wenn man auf diese draufklickt, öffnet sich jeweils ein Pop-up-Fenster mit der Information zu Tel, Mail, Web.Das mit dem Tel.  habe ich nun schon ganz gut hinbekommen 😉 in der Vorschau funktioniert es und auch im als interaktiv exportierten PDF - aber immer nur einmal! Also ich kann nur 1x das Fenster öffnen und dann 1x wieder auf  X schließen. Ich finde auch nach ewiger Suche hier keine Einstellmöglichkeiten und auch beim Googeln im Netz nix. Vielleicht verwende ich die falschen Stichwörter? Vielleicht kann mir hier jemand einen Tipp geben? Das wäre himmlisch. 🙏 Es gibt außerdem noch das Problem, dass im exportierten PDF das X-Feld unter dem Infofenster liegt, obwohl es in der Ebenenanordnung darüber liegt und auch in der Interaktivitäts-Vorschau als darüber richtig dargestellt wird.
