Hi, In Martin Evening's "photoshop lightroom 5 book" pg 219 it goes "LR and PS are able to automatically compensate the shadow point every time you send a file to the desktop printer or you convert an image to cmyk (im assuming it wont do this if you send a RGB photo to a lab printer?). LR's color management system always ensures that the blackest blacks you set in the basic panel faithfully print as black and preserve all the shadow detail". Now this book is from 2013 so I don't know if it applies to the current LR classic of today.  I asked Grok Ai and it said LR doesnt do this -- so my question is does what martin said still apply to LR today? thanks        

Hi,I have some images (PNGs) that want to create a HDR Merge from, however when selecting them and starting HDR merge, get error message...."Unable to merge the photos. The files lack the neccessary Metadata for merging".Any idea what part of the metadata this is trying to find?Is there a way of adding the data or pre-processing them somehow in LR or PS to recreate the data?I tried exporting them to jpg first, but get same error?HDR Merge works ok with other images of mine in past. Cheers,Nick

Hello everyone, I`m trying to organize my Library inside my LR Catalog to look the same as the structure on my hard drives without having to import all my old existing photos again into LR Catalog (as they already exist into other app catalogs that I`ve used before LR).So I have a structure on which I import my new photos, select and delete the unwanted ones and then edit and move them to my main folders into my library in which they stay:   1. I first import them from my SD cards into an Unsorted folder located on my PC - here I do all the selection, delete the unselected, edit them.   2. I then move the final images from the Unsorted folder (from my PC) to my final folders located on my NAS - there they remain.I tried to find a way to move the photos from my PC to my NAS inside the LR Catalog folders structure but the problem is that if the destination folders on my NAS don`t appear here inside the LR Catalog, as they don`t have any photos imported into my LR

Hi I tried to use the downloader to have Lightroom on my pc (I have Windows), but when I sign in it just says 'library not found' and I just want to add new photos from my laptop but there is no option for that at all. Do you know what can I do to actually select them? Thanks

Just upgraded to LrC  14.3 and cannot fine auto stack by capture time in either a right click manner or top menu. See photo. I've restarted. Mac Sequoia 15.4.1

After I export photos edited in LRC and move them to my iPhone, they appear as new on import. This creates a circular mess of sorting through photos to make sure they aren't imported again, and a large accumulation grows over the years. Isn't there a way to just check a photo when in the import dialog and tell LRC to never import it?

I have answered questions about this problem (is it a 'Bug'?) in the forum (as an acp). Now I have experienced it for myself!  Upgrading v11.01 to v11.1 How annoying it must be for 'beginners' to see an empty Catalog after the upgrade without understanding the problem! An upgrade should automatically upgrade a catalog that is currently being used!   My Catalog is on an internal PC- D:drive that is physically separate from C:drive , and the upgrade did not find it.   NOTE:  [Open Recent] DOES NOT FIND MY v11.01 CATALOG either!   And I am left with an empty Catalog in my Pictures Folder that is sure to create confusion unless I [Delete] it immediately.!   Thankfully, [Open Catalog...] does let ME find my working Catalog.- Adobe - This needs fixing.

AI continues to be both impressive and frightening. Wrestling with my develop presets, trying to figure out what parameters they set or don't set I took a long shot and threw one into chatGPT. It came back with not only a full list of the parameters it sets but also an extremely accurate description of what effect the preset will have on an image. Hi I am using latest LR Classic on Windows 11 PC - My 4TB External HDD is full and i need to "replace" this with a brand new one, which will be of similar size 4TB. I will not be adding this new External HDD but replacing the old one (at present i see no point in connecting both the HDDs) I would ideally like to store the old HDD away - and reconnect to LRC when i need to reprocess my old images. So what should i do ? Should i make a new LRC Catalog with the new HDD folders ? And can i reconnect the old HDD and use old LRC Catalog when required ? Any help would be appreciated. RegardsAshitG

Bonjour,   Je viens d'acheter un SONY RX100M7 neuf. Le modèle est produit depuis plusieurs années mais j'imagine que le mien est récent car il était "en cours de réapprovisionnement" dans tous les magasins. Je fais des photos en .ARW (le RAW de chez SONY). J'ai voulu faire une première importation dans LR Classic (V. 14.2) et ça ne fonctionne pas. Les aperçus ne sont pas possibles et l'importation non plus. Le message est "Les fichiers ne peuvent pas être ouverts dans LR". Je connais d'autres personnes qui ont ce même modèle depuis quelques années et ils n'ont aucun souci.  Afin de m'assurer que ce n'est pas un souci technique de l'appareil ou de mes cartes SD, j'ai téléchargé un logiciel gratuit, juste pour essayer (je ne sais pas si je peux le citer, c'est Rawtherapee). Et ce logiciel reconnait mes photos. Selon moi c'est donc un souci de reconnaissance par LR (par PS et Camera RAW aussi). Est ce que ce problème est connu? Hi everyone, I recently downloaded some presets and imported them into Lightroom (using Windows), but they’re not appearing in the dropdown menu. When I try to import them again, I get a message saying “All items were already imported.” An Adobe assistant had a go at fixing the issue, but had to go away to look into it further. I thought I’d check in here to see if anyone else has run into the same problem and managed to sort it out. I believe he already tried opening new images, reinstalling LRC, and a few other things. Thanks in advance!

I have been using FTP for many years to transfer web galleries to a server. Hi all,I am trying to update a reinstall of Lightroom 5 on my Mac. Sadly, Lightroom's integrated update functionality is broken, and I cannot seem to find a download link on Adobe's site. The legacy downloads page at https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/creative-cloud-previous-version-apps-download.html only goes to to LR6, no mention of LR5.The deep link at http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/lightroom/mac/5.x/Lightroom_5_LS11_mac_5_7_1.dmg is dead.Adobe chat support actually told me to come here and ask...Can anyone provide a download link to Mac version 5.7.1?Thanks!

After updating my catalog from Lightroom Classic V12 to V14.0.1, it now runs ridiculously slow to the point where it's practically unusable.  I've escalated this to Adobe tech support and did an hour plus support session (case #ADB-36901627-L0Q7), but they were unsuccessful in fixing the issue. I sent Adobe support my existing catalog and they confirmed that there is nothing wrong with the catalog (ie: not corrupt).  I even imported my entire catalog into a *brand new* catalog and the problem is persisting.  My computer has exceeeds the specs but simle actions lag and literally take minutes for LR to catch up (system specs below). Some examples of the problem: • Importing ONE TIFF image has been taking over 5 minutes with no movement on the progress bar (screen grab attached). • Setting star ratings on a selection of 10 images takes almost a minute. • Quitting lightroom, the system sporadically stalls and doesn't quit for over a minute. • Etc.   I've run diagnostics

The new feature in Lightroom Classic 14 is terrible! Adobe added a cycle to switch the visibility of markers for the remove tool. Previously, when retouching, removing imperfections from the skin, I switched with one click from a visible marker to an invisible one (to see how the skin looks). Now I have to click several times to switch. What a shame. Adobe, stop ruining your product. It is already imperfect. I think 10 years ago you were asked to make buttons with presets for the dialog box for copying settings. A lot of people supported this idea. Adobe doesn't care.

I'm looking for a workflow that can streamline the process of reviewing and tagging large photo libraries — specifically one that uses AI to automatically generate image descriptions and then inserts those descriptions into the Description field of the metadata (IPTC/XMP), ideally during the post-shoot culling and processing stage. I process my shoots in Lightroom Classic, but am comfortable in the entire Adobe ecosystem if there is a solution outside of LC. Hi, im using Sony A7iv on Lightroom 13.0.2 with 16.0 CR on Windows 10. My problem today is unable to import my photos that i shot on my a7iv (previously can, just discovered it today).  Everytime i open the folder it shows:and after import it shows:can anyone help me with this? tried all the previous posts way mostly clearing the temp but i dont even have anything anymore inside the temp folder. what can i do?

When I try to open a Catalog; this is what I'm getting: The Lightroom catalog cannot be used because the parent folder “/Volumes/LaCie/Leon's_Pic_2020” does not allow files to be created within it.Please either fix the folder permissions before continuing or choose a different catalog.

Hi,I have an issue. I cannot see thumbnails and images. And the videos are green...I have followed all guides, I have deleted cache, I have generate thumbnails 1:1 and normal, but the issue remains. I have deleted the v14.3 and installe v13, but the issue remains.I have tried to open much LR Catalogues but the issue remains.I have contacted the support center but them cannot solved the issue...What could be the issue??? 

This is a bit of a weird one. I was importing all the images off my SD-card, and for the most part it worked just like usual. About 700 images on the card, half of which had been imported on a previous occasion. Other half was being imported for the first time. Suddenly I saw that an image I took almost half a year ago appeared in "previous import" together with the new photos, and after a quick double-check I discovered that one image was missing in the place where this old photo appeared. There's a decent chance the old photo was taken on the same SC card, but the card had been reformated at least five times since then. Other than being taken with the same camera, the two files has completely different metadata including different file names. I tried to import the missing photo again and could see the thumbnail for the missing photo on the import screen and select it, but when I imported I got the same old photo instead. In Lightroom Mobile it says I have about 6700 files synched. Almost all of these are full size RAW files synched from Lightroom Classic on my Mac. It is also indicated that I am using only 2.7 GB of my 1 TB of cloud storage.  How is this possible?  I don't think Adobe does a very good job of explaining how their cloud storage works with their Mac and iPadOS apps.  Maybe I`m dense, but each article I read gets me more confused. Also: I was synching file from LR classic yesterday.  When I went to bed the app indicated that 450 files were still uploading.  I left the Mac on and the settings were set to prevent sleep while synching.  When I got up this morning it still said 450....WTF?

Okay, here's an odd one. I'm making a slide show in LR. All Photos & music are original. No copies or copyright issues. Somewhere in the slideshow, after playing for about 10 seconds, one of the songs will just start over from the beginning. I've tried moving the songs up & down the queue and this might fix the problem for one song but then the problem shows up in a different song. I am using 10 songs to fill the full 30 minutes. Anybody ever hear of this?
