How to speed up AI noise reduction in Lightroom Classic?
Today, when I opened Lightroom Classic, I noticed that all the thumbnails were missing. Anytime I click on a folder, the thumbnails are blank, and Lightroom begins rebuilding only the thumbnails visible on the screen. As I scroll down, new blank thumbnails appear, and Lightroom starts rebuilding those as well. The bigger issue, however, is that during the thumbnail rebuilding process, my CPU temperatures soar. They hover around 80°C, with spikes reaching as high as 95°C. This has been happening for a while, but I used to only notice it with new photos, so I tolerated it. Now, even just scrolling (through folders where thumbnails were not yet rebuilt) causes the CPU to overheat, which is becoming a serious problem. I have like 14000 photos, so... yeah. My main question is: Is this normal?Additionally, what could be causing all the thumbnails to disappear, and what can I do to bring the CPU temperatures down when Lightroom is rebuilding the thumbnails? I've already set JPEG previews
Hi all. When exporting from Lightroom Classic, or using the "edit in" function and editing in Photoshop 2022, the colors in my image are completely different. I have tried updating my graphics drivers. My display calibration is set to sRGB - but I do not think this is the issue as they are different even between applications. I have not tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Version numbers are at the bottom of this post. I've been struggling trying to find a solution for about 2 hours now and would appreciate any and all help as to why this would be happening.
I've started having issues with LR 13.5.1 (or just before). When I change screens or focus away from LR to another app or file on the desktop, when I return to LR, it has a scrim/screen over the image and the program is hung up, with the Windows scrolling wheel showing. I have waited up to an hour and it never reloads properly. This will happen with a small catalog of a few hundred and with large ones with thousands of images. It can also happen when I change between work areas of LR itself. I have checked the Task Manager, and LR is using maybe 50 - 60 % of CPU and around 10 - 20 GB (of 128 GB) RAM. The only way out of this is to crtl-alt-del to Task Manager and kill the instance. I've been using the same machine for almost four years (AMD Rythen Threadripper 3960x 24-core) under Win 10 and moved to Win 11 a few months ago, but this problem started only a few days ago. No new plug-ins or changes to settings. Any suggestions would be greatly apprecaited (I use LR about
In 13.1 when you attempt to import from a Canon camera. The import button is flashing and it is updating the photo status at the bottom left corner between zero and 1 image. One square box flashing in the main grid area. Eventually, it displays properly. I have several existing projects on the card that I haven't deleted. 1. Just start importing Second camera, it worked as expected. 13.1macOS 13.6.3
I have been experiencing this problem for a while, probably years. I wasn't very seriously processing a lot of photos until now, and I just lived with this problem. But now that I am, I can't really tolerate the issue anymore. The problem is that after some apparently random amount of time, from hours, to days, to even weeks, LRc becomes incredibly slow. It does not matter if I close and restart LRc. It remains very slow. I ran into the issue again yesterday. It would take about 5 seconds to open an image when double clicking on it, 3 seconds to scroll down one line in grid mode, and 13 seconds from the time I click Edit / Preferences, and when the dialog actually shows up. I created a brand new, empty catalog, and restarted LRc. The Edit / Preferences taking 13 seconds issue remained. Finally, I rebooted the machine , and all the performance issues disappeared. I'm really keen to finding out what is causing this. Other Windows applications are
I've been loving the Generative Remove feature but since the past couple days but it and all other spot remove features are completely broken for me. Help, please! Trying to open a Lightroom catalog and instead of offering and updated version to 13 or whatever the current preferred version is to open, the folder is cycling new -shm, -wal, and lock files. The -shm and -wal files disappear and reappear like the folder is attempting new ones. I attempted deleting just the lock file and closing everything and restarting, but it cycles the same. The Lightroom program never opens and it never offers the option to reformat to the new version #.
Hi there, I've been having this problem for about half a year now. I thought it would get fixed in the recent 13.2 LRC update, but that wasn't the case. So what happens is that my RAM fills up when LRC is idling for some time. I work on LRC then move to another task, put the iMac in sleep mode, wake it up again the next day and at some point memory usage goes from around 7 GB to 150 GB (!). Looks like a memory leak to me. Pls Adobe, fix this. Running Mac OS 14.3.1. Thanks
When publishing 2,000 photos with the zenfolio publishing services. It will publish 10 photos over to the zenfolio gallery and then I will be prompted with "Can't update this collection. Could not connect Zenfolio. Please check your internet connection". My computer is fully connectred to the internet and my lightroom classic is running the most updated version. I have reset the app, and I've cleared my brower cache. How do I fix this.
My last import would not build the preview of the raw files. I'm using mac OS High Sierra 10.13.6, and Lightroom classic 9.1 release. I don't think I can update it currently on this operating system. Is this due to the older version, or is there a fix for this? The raw files I import are from Capture one- IIQ files. I don't adjust the raw files in LR, I just import them for archiving with the high res tifs. Thanks for the help.
When setting the parameter indicating Standard Preview Generation during the Import dialog, those previews are, predictably, generated during the import process. The problem - which seems to have always been present - is that when I choose to cancel the operation of generating Standard Previews (due to high processor resources), but continue to import my images, canceling only registers for a couple of minutes, then restarts. This has always felt a bit annoying tbh. It would be great to see canceling the operation require just one click.
Hello dear people, when I go through the images in Lightroom and zoom in once, the white balance changes forever. Is this a known problem and if so, how did you solve it? See photo, the settings are 100% the same. i use mac m1, sonoma 14.6.1
I am working on a MacBook Pro with M1 chip and the latest software. The display is set to the apple default which is XDR (P3-1600 nits). Any clue why this is happening. It shows up most when I am processing night images of the Milky Way.
I like the AI feature but it is simply too slow. I have 300 pictures and simply can't wait that long.
Today I imported photos from an NYC trip in March to browse them and then deleted them from Lightroom once done viewing them. However, after deleting them in LrC they have also been deleted from my SSD and do not appear in my trash. The photos had been transferred from my SD card to my SanDisk SSD and then imported to LrC. I am using MacOS Sonoma 14.5. Extremely frustrated as the entirety of my photos are now deleted permanently from the SSD and cannot be found in my trash. I have read through other threads which suggested restarting Finder and/or my Mac. I have done both to no avail. If anyone can please suggest where my deleted files have unintentionally gone and how I can retrieve them I would be extremely grateful. Please let me know any other info I can provide.
Hello,When I point the eyedropper at an area of the photo, the RGB % numbers are different between the eyedropper and the histogram. The values are slightly different but I would like to understand why and which is more reliable.LrC 13.5.1Windows 11.0.22631RegardsFabio
Hi everyone. First time posting here. I have LR Classic 13.5.1 on my laptop. I imported about 2000 photos from a shoot a few weeks ago and have been picking my way through editing them. I have opened and closed LR multiple times since the initial import with no problems. The raw files reside on a Synology NAS RAID system at home that I connect to through my wifi router. Last week I had to travel across country so I thought I'd take the time on my long flights to edit some more of the photos on my laptop using the previews. I was able to edit a couple hundred photos on the flight before the battery ran low. Everything was fine until I closed out of LR and then opened it again once I got to the hotel. When I opened it LR said the catalog was corrupted due to missing AI edit info (dont remember the exact details) and it had to create new catalog. When I opened the new catalog I noticed that it only has 1150 photos in it. I started looking into things and found that LR thinks that all phot
Anytime I import or starting working in either Library or Develop modules, my CPU will spike to 100% then computer will crash. I have tried disabling parallel preview generation and have increated cache to 10GB which is located on a separate M.2 drive.Any ideas on how to prevent LR from maxing out CPU and crashing? I am trying to print to file some montage images and have set up some custom templates to do so. I position the photos in the cells using Command/drag and it looks like the screen shot below but when I print it to file the images have moved position again - see second image. this happens even when i do not have to command/drag move the original image in the cell. Can someone please help me and tell me what i am doing wrong? Thanks in advance!
I just started having this problem today. I've been working on importing batches of photos for products I sell on Etsy. In the morning, imports seemed to be working fine, and I had around 227 gigs free on the NVME drive I am importing to (happens to be my C: drive, windows 11). Over the last few hours, I've been having problems where the LAST image (RAW) of the batch I am importing, always fails to write during import. My total free space is now 224 gigs, so there is PLENTY of space left. I've tried other write testing on the drive, both manually (just copying files in) as well as with some testing tools, and everything seems to be perfectly fine with the drive. It is a very high speed NVME drive that is plugged directly into one of the M.2 slots on my motherboard, and it does not conflict with video card PCI-e lanes or anything like that (it enjoys its full 4x lanes without conflict at all times.) I'm really baffled why this is happening. The drive seems to be to
I am trying to find a way to get the title of the image to be added to the metadata description automatically, so that I can batch export a bunch of images. The idea being that then when I upload them to an album on Facebook, the image metadata description is automatically added as the photo description in Facebok, and I would like each photo to have its title in that description, so that if someone wishes to purchase an image, they can tell me the exact image title, as opposed to me having to search for the image manually by eye.I would like either the title of the image (e.g. PANA2035) to be addedORMore ideally, the user specified custom output title to be added. What I mean by this is, in the export window, you can have custom file naming, and I have a few different presets but they all are based on the following: Date (YYMMDD)_File name (PANA2035)_Custom text etc...Ideally, I am trying to figure out how I can get that custom file name to be added to the metadata caption automatical
Lr Classic unable to write to user folder // see below attached screenshot of error message >> I am having this issue, since I wiped my drive and upgraded to OSX Big Sur. A caveat might be that my Lightroom catalog is stored in Dropbox (so it is synced to the cloud), although this was the case before I wiped/upgraded, without issue previously. I have tried the terminal diskutil command diskutil resetUserPermissions / `id -u` to no avail. One other caveat would be that further to the OSX upgrade, I have added an additional user, whereas before there was just one user (me). The additional user does NOT have admin privileges. I imagine that LR would only need to read/write inside my home folder "andrewklug", not within the entire user folder. Have included below screenshots of the error message, as well as the info windows for my user folder and home folder. Another clarification, Lr is able to move files between folders (which might suggest write privileges
Just recently since the last update after I export the images as jpgs, Lightroom is suddenly duplicating all the images, so there's two images now of each file within Lightroom but thankfully not where I store my images. Only in Lightroom. If I relaunch the catalog, Lightroom just keeps duplicating- hence an export of 100 becomes 200 and then if I relaunch again Lightroom has 400 images and it just keeps going! UGH. Please make it STOP.
