My system is Windows 11 with all the latest released updates. No beta code. I had an interesting issue with LRc today. I could do everything except export to a file (e.g. jpg). The error was To cut a long discussion short, the answer was that it doesn't like my use of the SUBST command to shorten and manage different directories. The actual error was "The file could not be written (1)" followed by the name of the RAW file (even though I was trying to write a JPG). Example: If I have the command: SUBST Y: c:\user\alans\synologydrive\pics Y:\Fuji\writablefolder is no good - I get an error in LR but C:\user\alans\synologydrive\pics\fuji\wrtablefolder works just fine. Photoshop doesn't have this problem. I think this is a bug. Every other app I have works fine using the Y: drive. Cheers Alan [moved from bugs to discussions according to the community rules - Mod.]
Hi all,I am having this error with JPEG mini plug-in. It started yesterday out of nowhere, I have formated the PC and still having the same issue.JPEG mini outise lightrrom is working fine with no issues, it's just the plug in. Maybe some issue with LR?
Put this as a bug because it seems to be but not sure if it is or if I've changed something? I used to press Cmd+E (Mac OS) when in Lr to open a Canon CR3 Raw in Photoshop. In the last day or so, when I press that Cmd+E it switches from Lr to Photoshop but the file just does not open at all. If I right click and select open as Smart Object, it works fine and opens the CR3 as smart object. If I manually drop the CR3 from Finder into Photoshop it opens Camera Raw and then I can edit the file. All my apps (Lr, Photoshop & Camera Raw) are up to date according to creative cloud. No updates to install.I've not updated my Mac OS for a couple of months so it's not an update to that which has caused the issue. Any ideas on how to get back to being able to press Cmd+E and it opening the CR3 as a layer in Photoshop like it always used to?
I don't see any difference in my image when I view the softproof version using a vendor specific ICC file vs the original display. However there is a big difference in the historgram. Shouldn't I see a difference in the image when I look at the softproof version?
Hello, Since some time already, I've noticed that when using Lightroom Classic (macOS M1) and just clicking on the pictures, it automatically does an editing (very lightly, probably from Camera to Adobe settings or similar, I cannot really tell). However, this is annoying since when I do edit a picture and then I use the filters based on edits, I cannot distinguish those pictures that I indeed edited vs those that I just open to check. As I said, this was not happening before. Is it something I can deactivate somehow? Thanks for your help.
Pierr
Generative Remove in Lightroom Classic Open Lightroom Classic Did you know that the new Generative Remove, powered by Adobe Firefly, lets you quickly and easily remove unwanted objects from an image? Also, with the Lightroom Classic version (v13.3), the Heal tool has been renamed to Remove. Learn more here. Here are some quick tips & steps to get started with Generative Remove and to get the desired results. ❶ In the Develop module, select the Remove (Q) tool, switch the mode to Remove from Clone or Heal, and enable Generative AI. Select (i) to learn more about Generative AI User Guidelines. ❷ Adjust the brush Size and the overlay Opacity to Brush over the object you want to remove. You can adjust the selection in Mask Refinement & then click Apply. Additional tips: Enlarge your selection - if your brush stroke is too tight, you will have unexpected results. Removing an object means painting over it, its shadow, reflection, an
Every image I've tried to use the new masking Select Subject/ Select Sky masks on I get the same error: "No Subject Detected: Couldn't find a subject to select. There might not be prominent objects in the photo." But I've tried this on so many images at this point, ones with very clear, blue skies with fluffy clouds, or clear human subjects and it never finds anything to mask. I've tried this on raw images and jpeg's just to see if that helped. Is there a setting I maybe am missing? My system I'm running on:macOS Big Sur v11.6MacBook Pro Retina, 15" Mid2015Processor: 2.2 GHz Quad-Core i7Memory: 16GB Thank you!
I store all my photos on an external hard drive in one catalogue. I would like to retire my older hard drive and switch to a new one. I have backed up all the photos to the new drive. If I just import the photos to lightroom using the new drive all the edit history is gone. Could someone please direct me to an article or video explaining how to do this and keep the edit history? Also, how often do most people retire external hard drives and switch to a new one to reduce risk of failure? Apologies if this is a basic skill - fairly new to all this!
My MacBook recently died and I lost my Lightroom catalog (was not backed up anywhere aside from internally). However, I can still access this lost catalog and its associated collections / edits from my Lightroom Mobile and web accounts. My question is: is there any way that I can restore these collections and edits to my new catalog on my new computer?
I'm running Lightroom Classic v. 13.5 on a Mac Studio M2 Max under macOS Sonoma 14.6.1.This issue did not exist for me in versions of Lightroom Classic prior to 13.4. Lightroom used to accurately select the subject, most of the time. In my case, the subject is almost always a person, sometimes more than one person. I often photograph people on the street, and I typically use Lightroom's masking to selectively apply edits to the subject(s) and to the background, separately.I just upgraded to v 13.5, and I was hoping that this issue, which first appeared in v 13.4 for me, would be fixed, but the latest version's masking behavior is the same as the previous version: when I go to masking and click on Background, under Add New Mask:, Lightroom creates a mask that includes the Subject.I have "Show Overlay" enabled, and my overlays have a translucent reddish color.I've found a workaround for this. I click on the Subtract button and select the entire person (Subject) who I want to separat
I installed Lightroom Classic 13.3 early Tuesday morning. It has been running almost constantly since. I have taken it down about three times and brought it back up. For at least the last 24 hours, when I hover my cursor over the Cloud icon in the upper right, I see "Uploading 13 photos". I have synched another collection and later unsynched another. During those times the number changes for a few minutes but soon returns to 13. I have captured a Lightroom Diagnostic file but am not sure how to get it to you. Thanks, Alan Hunt. I think it would be a great idea in radial masks to be able to drag around the center point of the mask so that the feather is not the same the whole way around. This would increase the versatility of this mask feature.
I have a timelapse sequence of a couple hundred images. Other AI masks sync, but the remove adjustment does not. Is this due to its "beta" nature, or will it always behave this way? Thank you.
Hi all. Recently I upgraded my SATA 2TB Hard Disk to a NMVe 2TB to use on Lightroom Classic. I always have a mirrored backup of all my photos, synced with the drive origin. Some days ago I tried to open one file and I got a exclamation icon saying that the file is corrupt. Unfortunately I don't have the original files on the Hard Disk before copied to the NMVe. I only have the backup from the NMVe, so my backup has the file corrupted too. Maybe the problem is the NMVe hardware, but my question is simple: There is a way to select all files from a folder and check if it is corrupted or not? Inside the Lightroom Classic? Generating previews? Or a simple way is available? Just wanna check to see what is corrupted from my catalog. Thanks!
Somehow, when accidentally touching the screen with the cursor while editing an image a little dimension box appears that cannot be gotten rid of unless I quit Lightroom and re-start Lightroom. It also stays on screen going to other apps, for instance signing on to these forums... there it is. What is it and how do I turn it off? The excape key and all other keys do nothing to get rid of it. I need help as it's a plain nuisance... TIA, Ken
After the Lightroom Classic Beta disappeared from my computer, it appears all of its catalogs did as well. I did not uninstall the software and I've searched multiple times in Finder for a .lrcat file and haven't found any older than June 30. I've opened that catalog, updated it, and it's empty. Backups are also gone. Where did my files go?!
I know Lightroom 6 is End-Of-Life but trying to install it. Customer support said I can ask the community. It completes installation and then says installation failed.
Hi I installed Lightroom 6 on my new notebook, but i wasn't able to activate the license.I currently installed it on one PC und tried to install it on my notebook. I tried to logout from my saved backup VM from my last notebook, but it was not successful. How can i install Lightroom 6 again? Regards
Since the Healing/Spot Removal tab received the Generative AI addition, when I try to sync spot removal from lots of photos (not using generative ai) it takes forever. I am removing 2 dust spots from 120 images for a timelapse right now and it is taking 14 minutes because LR says "Your edits were synced, but updating AI settings may take some time". I didn't use any generative ai, I went through my normal process to remove dust spots. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hello. Please help, I don’t know what to do or what the problem is. I have already watched 100 tutorial videos on how to save photos, tried different methods, but I still can’t save the photo in HDR. Although I have set all the settings for saving, what could be the problem? Please let me know. I urgently need a solution. I processed the photo for work, but I can’t save it, so do I have to process it all over again without HDR?
In Develop module/Soft Print mode, My "Create Proof Copy" button is AWOL (LrC 13.4, Mac Sonoma 14.5). To send photos to a print house, I need to modify them so they will print accurately. I want to maintain a copy of the original and a copy (as .dng before export as .jpg) of what I send to the print house. Ideas? Thanks!
I had to create a collection that contained photos from many different dated folders. Then I wanted to delete all those photos. As it's not possible to delete a photo from viewing a collection (which seems strange to me but anyway...) I had to use the "go to folder in library" option and delete from there. However that leaves the navigation pane halfway (or more) down the list of folders, when I want to be back in my collection. So I have to move the scrollbar all the way to the top, expand the list of collections, select my collection and repeat the process. It was really tedious. Is there anyway to either (1) collapse all the open folders with a keyboard shortcut so I don't have to scroll up to the top again or (2) use a keyboard shortcut to go to collections in the navigation pane?
