Hello. Currently we are providing a live audio stream to our web visitors using FMS and an embedded flash player and we want to also provide a stream in Icecast/Shoutcast/iTunes/WinAmp format. We'd prefer to do this using the same servers which are currently doing our encoding and serving. The question is... Do I need an additional encoder solution? Will FME encode to anything but the Flash Media Server? Or is FME tied to FMS? Any thoughts? Thank you!
I am hoping someone can point me to some information about translating the logs generated by FMS 3. We are currently running FMS 2 and are hoping the enhanced log features of FMS 3 will be able to deliver us some basic reporting statistics on streaming video viewership. Namely which video stream file was played and for how long. The user interface would need to be searchable or easily filtered and simple to understand and navigate for non technical users. Are there programs/programmers out there that can translate these logs?
I have a project where I need to set up a broadcast (from pre-recorded files) so people can 'tune in' at a certain time to watch a show. Some of these shows should have a soundtrack, can I use SSAS to overlay an extra audio stream? So I would send one video and two audio streams out to the client as one stream. Alternatively, can I use SSAS to replace the audio, so effectively demux the original audio off and send out a different audio stream in its place. Thank you in advance for any advice.
So, I've got FMS3 installed and I've got a Sample VOD page which works really well and is an ideal format. I'm using Apache 2 on Ubuntu. How do I migrate this Sample VOD page to a page that users can view?
Hi, I'm guessing Screen sharing is still not available in FMIS 3.0. I wanted to know what is the best way to achieve this. Also another question was is it possible for a user to upload and control a ppt or a pdf file so that others can view it as the speaker talks through the slides Thanks in advance
Hi, I am facing a problem to publish and play a live stream from FMS3. I am using flex3 (Action script 3 and FMS 3). I have coded a demo application with server side script. You can download this application and server side from this URL: Demo app: http://bang-dev.isprime.com/idma-test/FlashAngels/Amitabh/FMS_Issue/TestAppFMS.zip Server side: http://bang-dev.isprime.com/idma-test/FlashAngels/Amitabh/FMS_Issue/FMSTest.asc Please find the issue and let me know, how to fix it. To change the FMS server string: Go to Src >> Classes >> InitApp.as >> line no 38 and replace your string. Add a name at left side text field to publish the video. Add a name at right side text field to play the video. For the server side, just create a folder inside application folder of FMS with name of “FMSTest” and put the server side “FMSTest.asc “file there. Let me know incase you face any issue while deploying it. Thanks,
Hi everyone, We've been using FMS 2 for a couple of years now and it's worked very well. There is one issue we want to improve, and that's getting streaming working across corporate firewalls. We set up FMS on a server that was already running IIS on port 80, so our FMS uses port 1935. This is a problem for some of our corporate clients who are trying to use the system from behind a firewall. Understandably they're reluctant to open ports on their firewall. Having researched this problem, the two main options I've seen are: 1. Set FMS to use port 443, as that's a port commonly open on corporate firewalls. One problem we may encounter though is the firewall checking the packet data and rejecting RTMP traffic over this port. If that occurs, is that where we use HTTP tunneling? 2. Move the FMS so that it's on a server where it can use port 80. I have a development system on which I'm going to run some tests, but I was wondering whether you have any advice about this matter.

Hello, I am using the following code provided by Adobe to display the current time of a media stream var connection_nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection(); connection_nc.connect(null); var stream_ns:NetStream = new NetStream(connection_nc); my_video.attachVideo(stream_ns); stream_ns.play("video1.flv"); // stream_ns.onStatus = function(infoObject:Object) { statusCode_txt.text = infoObject.code; }; this.createTextField("time_txt", this.getNextHighestDepth(), 10, 10, 100, 22); time_txt.text = "LOADING"; var time_interval:Number = setInterval(checkTime, 500, stream_ns); function checkTime(my_ns:NetStream) { var ns_seconds:Number = my_ns.time; var minutes:Number = Math.floor(ns_seconds/60); var seconds = Math.floor(ns_seconds%60); if (seconds<10) { seconds = "0"+seconds; } time_txt.text = minutes+":"+seconds; } and it works great for the most part. However, sometimes when moving to a new stream in the application, the stream seems to get caught up. Ive traced the "time_txt"

Hello! I'm having a hard time getting the virtual directory to work. Here's the setup: On my FMS computer, I have flvs located in the folder: X:\flash So, in the Macromedia/FMS/conf/_defaultroot_/defaultVHost_/vhost.xml, I made a virtual directory like this: <Streams>lrc;X:\flash</Streams> And then, in my flash, I set the contentpath to be: rtmp://myUrl/lrc/flvname I'm using FMS 2.0.3 But its not working. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Does there need to be a main.asc somewhere in there? Thank you very much! -Heather Larkin
Hi there, our company is planning to use adobe flash server for our videoproducts. there are some basic quastions, where i did not find an answer in the whitepapers and would be glad to get some helping informations here. 1. bandwidth detection: is it nessecary to upload a videofile in defines, different bandwitdhes to the server or does AFS work from 1 basicfile and creates the nessecary bandwidth itself? 2. only stream or also download can i use ASF also for downloading flv-files and use the userrestrictions for that (example: bandwidth and/or concurrent connections per user) 3. creation of preview pictures and metafiles we will need a feature, that AFS creates on demand previewpictures and a metafile (as txt or xml) and copy that to a special location. is there any kind of feature in it or any idea for a workaround? Last not least: Is there anybody able to help us in a. setting up the server correctly b. programming a player with some special features c. writing the ness
I have been unable to connect to FMS using localhost/vod/. Not sure of what to do from here. I thought it might be a firewall issue when I couldn't connect via rtmp://servername/vod/flvfilename. But, it will not even work via //localhost/vod/flvfilename Thank you in advance for the help.
I need to have my FMS 2 server application code (.asc files) and shared object folders on separate drives, is this possible? My situation is this. I have a secure drive where all of my application code needs to reside. This drive stores all static data and applications and is restored from a golden image upon startup. Any dynamic data, such as shared objects, must be stored on a separate data drive. Can FMS2 be configured to store the shared object directories and files in a location other than under the application directory? Thanks for any help, -Randy
Hi, After a lot of google usage i found that there is no real answer. I only found this line on a forum said to have comed from ADOBE "FMS depends on Linux TCP system to detect disconnection". This is supposed to be the problem for the extremely annoying problem that applicatrion.onDisconnect is not triggered when a client disconnects from FMS. We have developed applications that rely heavily on the onDisconnect, paying solution that need it otherwise we can't offer our service because of it's unreliability. I love Flash and FMS but i've never encountered a bug of this severity. Can some ADOBE representative please give us a straight answer if we have to port all our FMS installations from Linux to Windows?
We're seriously considering switching to Wowza Media Server Pro. Has anyone had any experiences with this software that they would like to share before we make the switch?
Is there anything special about FMS 3.0 on Windows 2003 R2 server? I have installed and read different documentation, but I cannot stream or connect to the admin console using //localhost Thank you, David
Do I have to pay for the upgrade from 3.0 to 3.5?
I installed Flash Media Encoder 2.5 Auth. Add-in and it worked well and the user and password appeared when trying to connect to the server through FME ... The problem is that when i open the command prompt and put the user file it gives me commands to put in order to add or remove users ... When I write these commands I get the following message: (The syntax of the command is incorrect) So, what's the right way to write the command ?? The second question: How can I decrease the audio bit rate as much as possible ... as the least bitrate which I got is 18 kb ... I wanted it to be less than that to increase the video bit rate Thanks, Ziad ....
Hello, we used to have an icecast server which took our live radio streams to the web by way of mp3 streaming and m3u files (containing the http URL to the streaming server's mp3 stream) would be downloaded and launched by the likes of iTunes/WinAmp and played in that 3rd party app. Is it possible to do this with FMS? Play the MP3 stream with a program like iTunes? Right now I have the streams being played by an embedded "JW Player" on a web page, but I don't necessarily want to limit people to an embedded player. Any tips on where I can find more information about how to set this up? Thanks very much.
Could anyone please guide me on what technology to use to build a online voice recorded that would record a users voice using a flash player from a website and then the voice is saved on the server side. What would be the best way to build something like that. Thanks, Ket
I have Flash Media Interactive Server, and using the tutorials I have created an application to record the live stream. It is recording the flv on my server. What do I need to do to be able to view (both live and recorded) video remotely. I have very limited understanding of this, and any help would be appreciated.
I have Adobe Flash Media Interactive Server 3, Windows XP Media Center SP2 with a Vonage VT2542-VD Router. I am having trouble getting the video to go live on the website. I can see all on my pc. The website is www.wwcwwrestling.com if you want to see what I have done. I can view perfectly on the hosting pc but none other. I have a additional server with tiger domain and seems to be uploaded correctly there unless I might have not done it correctly. Anyone who can help, this will be very much appreciated.
