I am working on a mac with 14.7.2 Ventura. I had to uninstall the desktop app using the Creative Cloud desktop app uninstaller utility. . Then I downloaded and reinstalled the desktop app, and now it is working however there is a note that some items work better with the newer OS> You said you have an older Mac... which one?

I was also running Ventura and at first it would not update..So I updated to the latest version of the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop app,(not sure if I was on the latest or not but tried this anyhow) by first removing it using the Creative Cloud desktop app uninstaller utility. Then I downloaded and installed the current version of Creative Cloud desktop app. then it worked. You said you tried all solutions, did you try that?

I know - however.... and if purple cows are common in India... In California, we have two toned field mice in the desert.... or so I am told. I either have been in the wrong place or at the wrong time..... or I dont drink enough... BUt OH OH OH I do eat chocolate.... only Swiss or French dark chocolate though!

Hello, you asked the same question again, but did not say if you had tried starting up Lightroom Classic using your most recent back up catalog? as we said, catalogs get corrupted which is why you always need back ups. The photos themselves are still where ever you stored them and are untouched. LR is a non destructive application.

Catalogs in LR are data bases, and yes they do get corrupted but infrequently. Before you toss that catalog, try copying over one from your back up catalogs. THen relaunch LR Classic and try opening the backup catalog. Hopefully your backup catalog is not so old that it is missing a ton of recent work. In general it is recommended to have at least 3 copies of your catalog. One on the working computer, one on an external drive, and another one, either on another external or in the cloud.

I'm not sure if this would help, but there have been reports in the past that the drive that Photoshop uses did not have enough space to open Photoshop and make edits, so can you see how much space you have on whatever drive you were using probably your internal drive. It could be that downloading the whole new creative suite and Sonoma somehow your drive was filled up And not left enough space I believe Photoshop needs something like five times the space of a file the size of a file to even do anything. I'm not sure about that number, but that has been a problem in the past for some people.

I have been searching the site to see if anyone else had reported this issue. If I understand correctly, you upgraded to Sonoma and both PS and LR are working however you cannot open Photoshop from Lightroom? I do not yet have SOnoma installed, so I cannot follow the links... and I have not been able to find any other answers. I am hoping one of the other community can help..???

still soumnds like the link from LR to PS is somehow broken or not responding. When you tied uninstalling deleting preferences and then reinstalled PS and LR, did you try shutting down the computer after uninstalling and before reinstalling both?

"LR already gives it the correct name, so the code is there already. It just names the mask component. So if I want a quick overview it isn't there, it just says mask 1 through 10. And I have to click on the mask to see what it really is." You make a valid point - and possibly the Lightroom Gods (i.e. the Lightroom team) may look into that suggestion for the next rev. I've been working with LR since the beta, and it has improved so much I am always totally impressed by what comes next - the LR team DOES listen to good suggestions !! SO maybe....

You say you already keep a back up copy of the RAW files SSD. I hope you mean you have a separate SSD drive with the identical (backup) copy of the RAW files? I suggest you also make a 3rd copy either tothe cloud or to another separate SSD. And as for the catalog itself, If you move the catalog to the SSD with the RAW files on it, my suggestion would be to make 2 back up copies of that SSD... again, at leat one to another drive, or one to a sepaprate drive and one to the cloud storage. Three identical copies of the RAW files AND the LR Catalog folder is safest....

Since the user can (read that SHOULD) rename each mask as they are working, having defualt name ttypes seems an unnecessary part of code writing. I have often found myself saying o ill just creat one mask and not rename it..... I always end up making more than one mask and when I dont rename them, I too often get lost. Renaming layers and masks as you make them may be an extra little step however it saves a ton of time and confusion, and that apples to LR classic and Photoshop!

i have a copole of clients who found the same problem and it ws resolved doing what JoahnElzenga suggested. you might try repeatingthe process and also clearing the cache before you reimport

Actually the upate is to the latest LR classic but also to the SOnoma latest update... Apple set an update to Sonoma 14.2.1 that needs to be installed that fixes some problems.

There is a note on the Adobe site to be sure to upgrade to LR to the latest if you are using Sonoma. First suggestions is to make sure you have the latest update to LR Classic.

Hve you perchance tried resetting the LRC preferences? Start Lightroom Classic while holding the Shift + Option (macOS) or Shift + Alt keys (Windows). A dialog box asks if you want to Reset Preferences. Click Yes.

The advances in Lightroom Classic, the one you get with the photographers subscription, is so much more advanced and easier to use that LR 6. If your computer supports it, and do check that first, if you really used and edited photos with Lightroom 6 you will enjoy using LR classic. Be sure to check the system requirements before you purchase..
