I know it has an Intel Iris Pro Plus Graphics card which means it shares RAM with the CPU. I only need to edit occasionally with this machine, I have a fully outfitted iMac on my desk. I need to replace my older 15" MBP but that one has a dedicated graphics card. I would buy the MBP 13" easily if it had a dedicated card in it, but it doesn't I don't want the 15" weight anymore.  Thoughts? On the same topic, if I bought a HP Spectrum can I use my Adobe license on the iMac and the Spectrum? Last I checked Adobe would only allow the license to be on one platform at a time, though you could use it on multiple machines in the same household/business on the same platform (the current license I have allows me to have one on my MBP and one on my iMac). I'm currently using a 2010 MacBook Pro 13 inch and it's time for an upgrade! I've started to work on virtual reality editing in premiere pro and need to use the 3d options in Photoshop (currently greyed out because I don't have enough VRAM).Work on Premiere Pro and After Effects is way to slow and while this machine served me well as a student, I can't work on this anymore professionally.I'm thinking about getting the 2017 MacBook Pro 13 inch or the iMac 21.5 inch. I mostly work from home so I don't mind so portability is less of an issue than efficiency and capability to handle multiple programs. I was thinking about the MacBook Pro 15 inch, but it's a tad beyond my budget at this point.Any advice? :S

Hello!I working on finalizing a custom computer build for using Adobe software, primarily Premiere Pro and After Effects. I'm hoping to get some advice on an ideal choice for a motherboard.I will be running an i7 8700K processor and have a few options for motherboards, but I've more or less narrowed it down to the ASUS ROG Strix Z370-E Gaming motherboard and the ASUS TUF Z370-PRO Gaming motherboard. I'm drawn to the Strix board since it has built in Wi-Fi, superior audio quality, and perhaps a nicer build quality overall, but I'm also trying not to overspend and suspect that either motherboard would perform just fine for my needs.Does anyone here have experience with these motherboards, or general thoughts on a good motherboard choice for an i7 8700K build? Hi guys,I am right about to buy video editing laptop and I am not sure what to search for. For most I need laptop because of portability, since I am gonna play music (DJ) at clubs with it too, otherwise I would go for desktop PC. As I did some research, I figured that most usable laptop in 2017 for video editing was DELL 9560, 15" 4k laptop with GTX 1050 (4GB). But here is this new laptop from DELL 15" 2-in-1 with Radeon RX Vega M GL (4GB). There are not much (nothing at all actually) information about this Radeon to how it works with Adobe applications (Premiere, After effects), thats why I wanted to ask you experts, what you think it would be better to buy? Or if there are any other Brands/model of laptop, that goes up to 2500€/$? I am afraid that I would not be able to get decent desktop PC for around 1500-1700, so I could buy separate laptop for music only..Cheers,Denis

Hi all thanks for your help, I'm trying to understand and learn.I just purchased a new laptop for editing and AE (not able to consider a desktop) and it came with a lightning fast PCIe SSD with 512gb that hold the OS.  It also came with a D:\ drive 1TB HDD (5200rpm).   I'll replace to HDD with an MX500 SSD and I think I can move the OS to the D:\ drive and tell the BIOS to boot always from D- yes? Is that right? Then I would run the OS, PP and AE from the slower SSD and hold the media files on the faster SSD.  Where should previews, cache, scratch files and pagefile be?  I have another SSD that I can run via USB 3.0   I understand that USB 3.0 can handle all the throughput of a SSD up to 500mbps, so I would like to take advantage of that third SSD.   Should I use it as a cache or should I output my renders to it?  I can render outputs to the HDD via USB 3.0 (I have 3 USB 3.0 ports).   Is this optimal?  I want to be sure b

As I've been editing my laptop's performance have been getting progressively worse. After adding LUTS, transitions and the whole works it's gotten to the point where I have to wait for 10-15 seconds for each clip to load while moving along my timeline. Playback is not even possible, even at 1/4. I now have to export the entire project to see how it looks while playing back.I'm already using proxies for editing, but this has had absolutely no effect on the performance of my laptop. All Premiere-files are saved locally on the laptop, while all the footage is stored on a external harddrive (Toshiba DTB305). Installed premiere pro CC 2018, fresh windows 10 and all driver updates, everything worked flawless and one day playback went to a complete stutter.I edit with 2 monitors, the second one is fullscreen and i need full quality, 1/2 just won't work for me, it's pixelated.System :amd 1800x, rx480 8gb, 16gb and SSD's for scratch media files.....all that.THE STRANGE THING IS, IF I ENABLE HIGH QUALITY PLAYBACK I GET 30-40 DROPPED FRAMES, IF I SET FULL QUALITY I GET 300-400 DROPPED FRAMES.Footage has minor lumetri corrections added, opencl works and is enabled.In resolve and sony vegas drone files plays perfectly.What happened that i suddenly lost the performance ? windows updates ? graphic driver is the same  so ?

Okay, so it appears as if my upgrade to CC2018 is (as usual) turning into a debacle. Step One, upgraded from CC2017 to CC 2018 on my Windows 7 machine with a Nvidia Quadro K4200 video card. Discovered that the MTS video files that I recorded on my Sony video camera no longer had audio within Premiere. Discovered via the forums that Adobe CC2018 no longer supported Dolby decodes in Windows 7 (or something along those lines). I also had issues with auto-relinking files inside of Premiere that worked fine in CC2017."Relink others automatically" not working. Discovered that I would need to upgrade to Windows 10 to solve this issue. Upon successfully doing a clean install of Windows 10, including installing the newest Nvidia drivers for my Quadro K4200, and installing Adobe CC2018, I opened an existing project, and I got this error related to my "NVIDIA OpenGL Driver". I'm really struggling with this issue and have been for months, and no amount of upgrades to my system seem to attack the root issue, which is that I get very stuttery playback, even from SSD (both data and boot drives; data drive is on USB 3.1 bus) after a few seconds, every time I hit play in a timeline, if I am using 2K or 4K DPX files, and also 4K ProRes files. Hi, I've searched around the web for a while and can't seem to find anything specific and was wondering if anyone on here could help me.I'm looking for a laptop that is capable of running After Effects (no crazy stuff just simple special editing), as well as premiere and Photoshop, (although i assume if it can run After Effects it can run the other two.)The closest thing I could find online to something that might work was the Dell Inspiron 15-inch 7000, but i've read some reviews saying it's not good. I'd also like to be able to run certain games like Borderlands 2, (though again I assume if it can run AE, it can run most games.)I'm not really too concerned with battery life, as it will be plugged into a source most of the time. but I would like a 15 inch screen.I'm hoping to stay within the, less than 1000$ price range, but I mainly just want some help to find a laptop that can run AE. I am looking to purchase a computer for editing video in Premiere Pro and After Effects, and am looking for advice on whether more processor speed or extra processor cores would be more valuable. It's been a long time since I posted.I purchased a new Dell U2415 monitor to replace the primary Dell U2315H monitor. The U2415 is factory calibrated. I still have a U2315 as a secondary monitor. Running a NVIDIA 950 video card.When I had the matched pair of U2315H monitors I calibrated them with my DataColor Spyder5Pro (55P100).I have some questions. 1. Should I install the drivers for the U2415? Can I have different monitor drivers for different monitors? Any tricks I should know doing that? 2. Does the fact I calibrated my previous monitor have any calibration impact on the new monitor? Does the video card play a role in that? If so what should I do to maintain the factory calibration? $3300.00  ... That's what I'm budgeting. Warning:I know any post of Mac vs. PC can spark a lively debate and I sense much of this forum's base are PC users but hopefully I'll get some honest and sound advice/purchase options.Purpose: I'm a current Mac user not wanting really to go back to PC but I'm about to make a purchase so I wanna be open to the idea if it's gonna make life better for me while editing.
