But anyway, i just started learning after effects a week ago, and now im learning masks, but when i import a video to work with, my timeline as soon as i start the preview goes faster than it should. Hi all, need help with a really strange problem.I just bought a new MSI Titan, it came with Windows 11 but I upgraded (not a mistake) to Windows 10. Now I'm getting all my apps set up, and to my bewilderment an old installer that I have for AfterEffects 2019 opens, but it gets stuck on "Loading..."This is a file I got straight from Adobe, and it works on two others machines with the same OS, so I'm at a loss for why I can't get it to install on this new one.I tried reaching out to Adobe support about this, but of course their cop-out answer was "AfterEffects 2019 is no longer available."I've tried all the usual stuff, re-extracting the ZIP file, disabling Defender, running as an administrator, the works. An old installer for AE 2021 worked just fine on this same machine, so I'm at a loss for what the issue is here.Can anyone help me with this?Has anyone else run into this?

Hi All, I'm new to expression controls in after effects. I have a number counter and I've tried a few different approaches to this (Slider control and a longer string of expression code). Ultimately I decided to use this simple control as it allowed me to control how the numbers jump quite easily:beginTime = 0;endTime = 3.5;startVal = 29219;endVal = 20188;Math.round(linear(time,beginTime,endTime,startVal,endVal)/200)*200 The problem is I cant seem to get a comma built in. Not sure if this is because I am trying legacy methods with a JavaScript project. Help if possible. Thank you!

I'm trying to play back my rotoscoped clip, but it keeps giving me this warning. I checked my internal storage and i should have more than enough space on my mac. What do I need to change in the 'memory' tab in order to make my clip play?

Hello, when I open the program and go into any file, the problem that you are seeing in the image occurs. It doesn't show me the elements of the composition and I don't have anything activated, not Shift or anything. I have reinstalled the program and run it again and it is still the same, can someone give me a solution? 

I have to deliver a file in the format 24800x90, i have setup the file in AE this is working fine, i've already read that encoder is not good at rendering such large files, so i tried render queue. When i render i get a long black bar, that's flashing a little, but nothing like my comp, my comp has images, fonts and so on. When i used encoder it atleast rendered to what i believe was 20'000px and the just had the rest black. I've tried h.264 and quicktime, since i have to deliver in one of the two.  Can anyone tell me how i can get it to actually properly render?

Hello, I am trying to make a tool: Create a Text font size based on comp size.  For example: comp is 540px = Font size: 105px. Not change the Scale property. Find the font size given the Width and Height of comp and length of the string. I searched forums and found this script code, and it's working perfectly on the already created text layers.https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects-discussions/find-the-font-size-given-the-width-and-height-of-a-comp-and-length-of-string/m-p/12588567 I tried to make it with Automation Blocks, but it did not work correctly.  Can you help to make this happen? Thank you

Hello, i want to use Trapcode Tao / Mir and i ran into this error. First off, i already searched/tried every fix i could possibly find and even asked chat gpt for help and nothing worked. I am using After Effects 2023 and Trapcode2023.4.0. My pc specs are:- AMD Ryzen 7 5800X cpu- AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT gpu- 32gb RAM According to other fixes, all monitors are plugged into the gpu and i have updated my graphics drivers to the newest version. All other Trapcode and other Third-Party Plugins are working as intended. I have tested both Tao and Mir in empty projects to remove any unwanted variables.  I am at a loss for what to do, my pc should be more than capable of running both plugins and i recall of using Tao in the past. I will gladly accept any help you can give me, thanks.  

When I edit the video from Google Earth Studio for the first time, I cut it and mark it with boris mocha ai in the effect, and I don't do anything like that. What is the reason and solution?

whenever i import ai format image to after effects the quality of the image decreases significantly, and i dont know how to fix it by turning the rasterization on it helped a bit but still not the desired quality

Hello! I'm having issues with my After Effects eating up all my memory on my computer. I was having this issue and then got a new computer with 32 GB of memory and it's still eating up everything. I'm using the Roto Brush tool and inititally it was crashing on me whenever I used it, but now with the new computer it's just throwing me a warning saying there's not enough memory. I tried messing with the Memory & Performance settings and it didn't do anything to help. I'm fairly new to After Effects, so I don't know if this is user error or if it's a system thing. Is there something I should be doing differently? Thanks!

Unstable releases- I am seriously considering not updating to new versions at least until 2 revisions.

I'm looking to see if a layer has an effect, and if not apply it. How to do check if a layer in a comp has a specific effect applied i.e. "camera lens blur", and if it's not there, apply it with specific values? Alternately, if the effect is applied, change the value to a desired value? (I think, I can figure this part out once the first part is answered, but this is where I'm headed) As always, thanks for your input.

The problem started just today. When I try to open the Mister Horse plugin panel, the program crash, every single time. I tried to uninstall AE, the MH plugin, update, etc. but nothing works. Any of you guys have some idea of how to solve this issue? Thanks.

Lasers, dinosaurs and space VFX are cool, but every so often you need to roll up your sleeves to add effects that hide problematic elements in a shot. Reflective surfaces are a great way for production equipment to wind up in a scene which ruins the illusion. Recently a friend of mine had such an issue and asked if there was anything I could do to hide a light's reflection in a painting. To make matters worse, one of the scene's actors moves infront of the reflection!   Follow along with me as I use the included Boris Mocha AE planar tracker to isolate the painting. Hello friends and Happy New Year!I would like to ask something that has been asked many times but there is a detail which has not been answered.My issue is the following:As you know, there is the well known rolling credits jittering issue. There is the flickering issue, as well. I know that you must not use 100% white font color. But even if I use 90% or 80% or 70%, there is still a little flickering going on. I cannot go under 70% because in my credit roll there are some words that are less "bold" than others and when the font color is at 70%, they look two dark.The other thing is the well known issue of using an expression so the scrolling can be smoother, without jittery font edges.The thing with this expression, though, is that you cannot easy ease the scrolling speed at the end. As a result, the credit scroll stops very abruptly.The abrupt stop is may main issue. The expression which forces the animation move every pixel (so you avoid subpixeling issues) is useless to me if I can'

Hello I'm a beginner editor and I've encountered a very annoying problem that I can't solve. When I use the Pen Tool to make my path, it doesn't seem to round, but when I attach an object to the path to move it, it moves around the curve correctly. It's visually very tiring, can it be fixed? The picture shows how angular the path is, but it shouldn't be like that. Regards and please help 😕😕 

In my other laptop it was working fine.This is my new laptop with a NVIDIA 1050Ti. When I am making a new composition, no preview is shown. There is nothing even when I am adding an image.I tried reinstalling it. I fiddled with some settings. CAPS lock is off. I also tried porting the settings from old laptop.Still not working.

How do I get back my " add" button in After Effect, the contents does not have the add button next to it, and I seem not to know what to do... help 

Salve a tutti!Sono entrata da poco nel magico mondo della creative cloud ed ho cominciato ad installare i vari softwares sul mio mac. Pochi minuti fa ho completato l'installazione di After Effect e, controllando nel Lanchpad, ho scoperto di aver contemporaneamente scaricato Cinema 4D (non licenziato, quindi in versione trial). Il problema è che io non ho nè visitato alcun sito Maxon nè ho rischiesto alcuna installazione del software suddetto.Domanda: è una sorta di pubblicità inclusa in after effect o, non so come, la Maxon si 'infiltra' nella creartive cloud? Attendo con ansia risposta illuminante 🙂Katia

A certain file keep crashing when I scrub the timeline or sometimes even after it's immediately opens.  

My AE comp renders as a full-length video of a black screen (with audio, when enabled). Comp plays fine in RAM preview, and I've tried all types of codecs and disabling RAM intensive effects, though I'm working on a quad-core i7 macbook pro with 8 gigs of RAM, so that shouldn't be a problem. Have followed tutorials to a T, and haven't found any help elsewhere online. Standard 1080p hd output. Please help!

 I am trying to automate the rendering of a very large number of projects (5-15k), however on mac, whenever I use the -reuse flag (since restarting aerender every time becomes untenably slow, where %95 of per project render time is aerender opening and closing aerendercore/whatever render engine is being used).  Trying to launch with a simple test project from terminal: % ./aerender -project ~/Desktop/test.aep -comp Comp 1 -output ~/Desktop/sap_out/out\[####\].tiff -reuseaerender version 22.6x64aerender ERROR -1712: AESend failed to send apple event at line 939 Where test.aep is just a comp with a single solid layer, although that doesn't matter since it obviously fails way before it ever connects to AE. I've made sure that an instance of AE is running (I've tried both render engine and normal), I've enabled automation of AE in privacy settings (and full disk access, just in case), and nevertheless the problem persists. This error appears to be propagating
