I have a layer with 20 objects from illustrator. I remember there's a wild distort effect, which increases certain parts of the layer and moves others around etc.. Is there an effect that wildy increases and decreases a layer randomly? Or a plugin that wildly changes the opacity or size of a layer?

Hi Each layer type have a small layer icon. A star for a shape layer or a camera for a camera layer. Is there any way to change these in an AEGP to my own custom? Thanks,Jakob

Is there any way to use the blending mode implemented in AfterEffects with the plug-in?I would like to know if there is an API such as AEGP, etc., as it would be troublesome to implement it myself.If there is no API, I would appreciate it if you could provide me with a page where the blending mode calculation formulas are compiled.

Hi everybody, I'm tasked with making a maze. So I have this complex SVG....object. I found a page that said just copy/paste from Illustrator to an arbitrary shape layer. They were it. it works, but....For this operation the complexity created a slew of masks insteadof lines/shapes and the stroke won't adhere (attached). So...for something like this, what would be a solid approach to get this vector grid into after effects as a massive stroke object? 

Pretty much as the tittle says. Once i start AE the program freezes at the launch screen and doesn't work. I already try the safe mode and installing previous versions, it hasn't work either. The pc setup is:AMD Ryzen 7 6800HNVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Laptop GPUAMD Radeon Graphics16 GB RAMDirectX 12 Another programs as Illustrator, Ps or even Premiere works fine. I'm clueless.

Hello! I'm a beginner and Im trying to save the effects/keyframes as a preset from an adjustment layer and it saves just fine but when I add the preset to another layer, it just doesnt work and i can't edit the keyframes. How can I solve this, please?

I need some advice on executing an map animation. This is a continuously rasterized question primarily. If I take a vector file (map) I brought in from Illustrator and apply the CC Sphere effect to it do I loose the ability for AE to continously raterize that vector map? I assume the answer is yes. I need to zoom into the globe (map that has CC Sphere applied to it) and still hold good resolution. My map size is 6176 x 3648. I'm getting an AE error message After effects error: buffer size (31930x18862). (37 :: 102). I am assuming the file is WAY too large for AE to handle so my question is what is the best way to handle an effect like CC Sphere and raster?  I know I'm not asking this question properly but basically I want to zoom into the globe and have good resolution without getting that error message OR maybe there is a better way to create this animation? Thanks in advance!  

Old project opened in new 2024.4 AE. Comments in expressions show up as error. Attached is the error notice. I have AE open in safe mode, error still pops up, but does crash AE when not in safe mode.  

I'm not sure if this is an existing issue or if it's not an Adobe issue and is an Windows problem, but since upgrading to 24.3 I've noticed an intermittent audio problem.  When I'm in After Effects or Audition and switch windows to my browser or other application which plays audio, on return I lose all audio playback in the Adobe software.  It also happens if the monitor is powered off, then turned back on.  So far the only solution is to unplug my 3.5mm audio jack and plug it back in.  Restarting AE also works sometimes.   I'm on Windows 11 (build 22635.3566) I have a Realtek card and an LG monitor with Nvidia High Def audio   Before this issue I could switch windows, watch part of a video on YouTube, switch back etc... Now when it happens I cannot preview either with audio or not.

Hi, when I try to preview my project and watch back what I've edited the preview is extremely laggy and choppy. And oddly enough when I export my project the video that was exported is also extremely laggy and looks just like the preview. I've never seen this before and can't find a way to fix it. I'd love any suggestions, thanks!

Hi I thought I was real clever when I did this. LOL. The problem is, I can't get it to work. The idea was to put all the install keys and matchname couples into a map. That way i could quicly get the right install keys without having to loop through installed effects every time. I was using AE 24.1 for weeks with no problems, but when updating to 24.3, it started not opening, it always shows the message to start it up on safe mode, but even with this, e freezes either on initalizaing media core or smart mask. I went back to 24.1 and the same thing happens.

Bonjour, Je cherche de l'aide pour after effect 2024.J'ai une scène filmé (fixe) dans laquelle j'ai ajouté des éléments 3d qui se déplacent.Je souhaite projeter les ombres de ces objets sur les murs (réels) de ma scène.Pour cela j'ai créé des solides 3d plans que j'ai disposé comme mon mur et mon sol. J'ai effectué les réglages de mes lumières, de mes elements 3d et de mes plans.Voilà mon problème : j'ai bien mes ombres sur mes plans mais je voudrais rendre mes plans invisibles. Je n'arrive pas à les garder les ombres seules. Je suis tombé sur un tuto qui propose de 'accepter les ombre : seules' dans les options de surface du plan mais je n'ai pas l'option 'seules' Merci d'avance à quiconque pourra le venir en aide!

I'm starting to get a bit worried (After Affect seems to be corrupting my files ?) I have two old projects that I converted for AE2024. I did some cleaning and optimization. Then I did some assembly, and everything was fine. The project was running smoothly. I d'ont know if it's linked, but I've had all these crashes since I did a complete reinstallation of Windows. The first project started to crash, when I tried to open it.I quickly identified that the problem came from one Typeface. (Oddly enough, it worked well before) But even when I manage to open it, the project is unstable and crashes for no reason from time to time. The second project worked really well, I did some files and layers organisation, and since its last saving, it's impossible to open it. It keep crashing like the first one. I can't figure out where the problem is coming from and it's driving me crazy. Every time I save a project, it starts to crash afterwards and I can no longer open it.&nb

Desinstalei um plug-in de terceiros do after effects, porém o programa não abre mais, apenas mostra uma mensagem de erro e preferências, o programa inicia, mas não abre. Já reinstalei, mas nada resolvido.

 Hi! I'm trying to rotate a set of wings in 3d - it works on the back wing but not the front - I think this is because I've got moving parts in the front wing precomp, is there anyway to work around this and get the front wing to rotate in 3d too? Thanks.

I'm going through the archives of my department - from before I joined the company. I am trying to open and review AE projects from around 2014-2017 in AE version 24.4. When trying to do so, I get the error "After Effects warning. Unable to import file "{file path and name}" as project (bad format or not readable).” I've also tried importing the old projects into a newly created AE project with the same result.Is there any hope for these old projects, or are they gone forever?

Hi, I've been doing some work with Mocha lately, and the community has already helped me with my previous case, but now I'm doing a screen replacement that's not with a green screen. I watched some tutorials from Boris FX, but I'm not sure if there's something else I should be learning to deal with the case below. I've tracked a TV screen with the X spline tool and have manually adjusted the track. But then when I turned on the planar surface it goes way too off during the track. I went into the Adjust Track section and created points so I can adjust the deviations. The first time I tried to do this, I got to a moment when every adjust moved the points way too distant from the planar surface's corners, and after a certain point the track gets way too distorted and I don't know which point where to move so it can be corrected. Whenever I try to open the after effects, it get stuck at "initializing required components". I unnistalled and reinstaleed the program, removed plugins, removed temporary files and so on but it didn't solve the problem.
