Hi, I am rotobrushing out an object from a video that is 25 fps and contains 804 frames. I have specified in AE that time display be frames with first frame starting at 0.  In composition view timeline shows 0 as first frame and 803 as last.  That is what I expect. But when I freeze rotobrush it says 1 of 805, 2 of 805, etc. I just want to make sure AE isn't doing something that is going to result in my img sequence being out of sync with my subsequent camera solve animation. I have solved camera in SynthEyes, and it shows start frame 0, end frame 803.  Should I just ignore what the Rotobrush freeze is showing? thanks

Hi,Question: can this be done faster? I have 20 compositions with 1 idential layer in all of them.I want to move this identical layer on the timeline in all compositions.I can open up each composition and move the layer on the timeline. But this is anoying, when the move action is the same in each composition. But maybe there is a faster way?  Sort of "master properties", but then for moving layers on timeline.

I have a very peculiar problem with text in after effects. I have text layers with text that I wish to edit. Has been working just fine for a week but this morning, after effects decided not to accept changes to existing text or to type text in a new text layer. If I try to select a section of the text it immediately jumps to selecting the whole text layer and I cannot change the content. I can change the size, the spacing, etc. If I try to type new text, it creates an empty text layer wihtout content - in the layer overview next to the timeline it just says "empty textlayer". Same if I try to open up a text layer by pulling it with the title tool activated (sorry, English is not my first language).  To make it even stranger: I can select a section of the text, force the selection to stay selected by not releasing the mouse button, and type my changes. When I release the mouse, the text will show up changed. That does not seem to be the most efficient way to edit my text

Hello, I updated to the most recent Affect Effects 24.2.1, and now it barely opens projects; I can't pre-render projects, and I also can't get anything to upload to the encoder. I am working on a Windows 11 operating system. Does anyone have any ideas why it's not working?

Hey everyone,I'm trying to find a way to modify the animation preset called "Exchange", and having some trouble. This preset is found under Animation Presets, Text, Graphical. The preset takes your text and replaces and bounces random characters in a random pattern. The default alternate character is a plus sign but you can change that to anything you like.Anyway, I'd like to apply the effect so that it starts at a specific point, plays for a second or two, and then stops. The settings have it so that it plays for a few seconds, pauses then plays again, on repeat. I've checked all of the different animation settings in the text layer, but I can't find a way to do this?I'm a bit new to After Effects and still learning, so this might be something obvious that I'm just missing. Hello, hope someone can help me.The error Cached Preview needs 2 or more frames to playback keeps appearing in just one composition: The composition doesn't appear even in another composition:All the others function perfectly fine. Have any idea what should i do to fix it?I've tried all the tips like cleaning the data and cache, or change the maximum disk size and purge the ram and change the preview quality but nothing works.Thanks for reading! 

Hey guys,I am new to After Effects and am having an issue with the "Alphabetical Order" of my project panel.I bought a file/ template from someone and he has a tutorial on Youtube about how to create using his template. The issue that I am having is that in the Project Panel, when opening subfolders, the numbers aren't in chronological order, they just seem to be random.I have attached 2 photos, the first one (In Order) is showing that everything is in chronological order.The second picture shows that the numbers are scattered/ random.In the tutorial on Youtube, the guys numbers are in order. I contacted him and he said that it's not an issue, and that it may have something to do with a setting on my computer, but I would like to learn how to correct it so that I at least can set it up properly 🙂Thanks

Hey! This is a big idea that I've had on my mind for a while now. I would like to make a simple shape (let's say a circle), and show a speaking ring (just like discord does), when a specific layer audio file in Premiere is playing audio. Best example would be using the channels A1 and up to grab audio. Is that even remotely possible with AE mogrts? And if not, is there a way to do that within Premiere?

Recently noticed that anytime I use this effect it locks up my composition and then will grey the composition window out so I am not able to see any of the project anymore. All the other compositions wont render in anymore, cant hide/ reveal layers. Needs a restart, clearing the cache doesnt help.Anyone know whats going on? Cheers - Josh

This seems to be an extremely common issue and wondering if there's actually ever going to be any improvement? AE 2021 was working perfectly fine and now of course after updating to 23.3 - it's an absolute joke. Spending monthly on CC and these updates just go backwards instead of actually improving. What else to say except being completely frustrated - all the while - sure Adobe - keep taking my $

Hi im trying to create a simple lines animation and im working with repeaters,My animation in very simple, start with 0 copies and end with 4.When i copy The animation keyframes to all the layers above it dose not work like the first layer and It start to do fade in animation instade of making the repeater copies animation that i wanted.What i did noticed is that when i copy and pasted the keyframes to the other layers it was creating  other repeater  in the layer instead of changing the values of the existing one soI tried to delete the reapeters of all the layers and after that i pasted the keyframes again  and then the fade in effect is happening again I really don’t  know what to do

#askplease help, i don't know what button i just press, but after that when i move my layer it become like you do (alt + click) and it has visible box when the layer is out of the comp screen and it make my pc lagging, please help me how i can turn off this feature, the example is like the image below

I have plugins that I use on a few macs and share with some friends over the years.  None of them work with the latest AE and Mac OS. And we cannot even open After Effects when these plugins are in the MediaCore plugin folder.  I believe I need to add some sort of signing certificate when compiling them with Xcode.  Is there any documentation on how to do this for the AE SDK?  Thank you

Hi, I'm experiencing weird bug. It lasts only 1 frame : some words in my comp are switching from roman characters to hindi characters for no reason. I mean, there is no key frames, and there is no intention of making an effect by switching characters to another. I tought it could be a graphic bug or something while previewing. But the thing is that when I'm making a render this bug stays. This monday everything was working fine and when I reopen the project this morning the weird bug appeared.I've tried, closing and reopening after effects. Restart my computer, and desactivate and reactivate Poppins font (Adobe font) that I'm using in my comp. Nothing has worked, still have the issue. Did someone already experienced this issue and solved ? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi!  I'm not an animator (yet...). I want to shoot documentary footage of people talking and then somehow run it through some brilliant software that turns all the characters into cartoon animals! (or.. at least renders them unrecognizable, if not animals...) Which software can do this most easily?  Afterfx?  Blender?  Cartoon Animator (formerly CrazyTalk,) Reallusion iClone?  Cost is a factor but also... also feasibility... i'll have to learn it from the ground up.  I used to be an editor.  I once taught my self Indesign in 2 weeks... so i'm not without *any* confidence, but... i realize some mountains are really really big.  Any advice would rock. 

I have a composition which has multiple layers, mostly 3D. Everything was working fine until I brought in some UHD videoo footage and starting keying it into the composition. The comp has a 3D camera because I move around a larger space than the composition. Now when I make either the keyed footage a 3D layer it turns it black. It is also doing it with static PS layers now too. I have done this exact same process in another comp this week and had no such issues. Does anyone know if this is a weird configuration issue or ...???

Greatings to you all. Recently I updated my After Effects from 2023 to 2024, but since that my text tool (on all projects, even new ones) doesn't work / is glitched. For instance, when I type in, a border flickers at the render, but no text is being shown and isn't registred. Plus, when I start to spam some letters, it shows only couple of them and others aren't registred either. I will add a screen recording to show the issue:The system I am running is the 2022 Mac Mini (M2, 8/256). Could you all help me on how to fix it? Thanks in advance. - GGYT

Hello, I'm a beginner user of After Effects. I have a question. I have a main video that is 60FPS, and I want to use another video as an overlay. The source of the overlay has 30FPS. My composition and the final output should be 60FPS. How does After Effects manipulate the frames of the overlay video? Are they going to be "spread" so that 1 frame of the overlay spends the same time as 2 frames of the main layer? Or, is the overlay going to be faster than its source? If 1 frame of the overlay lasts the same as 1 frame in the main 60FPS video, the overlay will be 2 times faster than its source, am I right? So, what is the case? Is there any option to choose between thetwo? Thanks.

Like many of you, I recently moved from AE 2022 to AE 2023. Im in the middle of a project involving many layers and blending modes working together. When I transferred over to the new software, all the layers with "screen", "overlay", 'luminescence" and others on half of my compositions are behaving improperly. The 'screen' mode is now behaving as the 'normal' mode does. Though this is only on half of my compositions. -Each layer uses the blending mode switch in the timeline-using the Cinema 4D rendered-all objects are 2D Is there something I should look at to get this fixed, or is this a known bug with AE 2023?

I hope it is understood. Why when I try to load preview I get this message that I have no ram and I am only using 29%. It should be noted that in the program configurations it has a maximum of 32GB of ram, which is what I have. If anyone could help me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi All, I'm trying to use Mocha to track a backpack that I need to add a logo on. I used Mocha to do the tracking, with all the options clicked (trans, scale, rotate, skew and perspective), added planar surface, clicked save. Then when I went back to AE and clicked on Create track data, even though I made sure the correct layer was selected as there was only one, the tracking points didn't appear on my preview screen. And when I applied the tracking data to the logo, it just disappeared from screen. Anyone has had a problem like this before? Any advice on how to fix it or any intel on what I might have done wrong?
