I would like to request an update regarding the auto-save feature in After Effects. Currently, when auto-save is enabled, older files are automatically overwritten and deleted. I suggest that the auto-save data be named with the date appended to it, creating auto-save versions for each working date.The purpose of the auto-save feature is to provide a backup of the work up to the point of a system crash and to allow for the restoration of data from several days ago for reference. By updating the auto-save versions with a specified frequency based on the date, it would address both purposes. I hope this request can be implemented. Thank you very much.

Everytime i open certain projects and try to pre-render and preview them my ae will just freeze and crash where its not pre-rendered, this has only started happening recently, help would be appreciated

Hello, i need a little help.  i created a layer with circle. i have added a repeator with 8 copies. i want those 8 circles to have alternate colour. like, 1st circle should have yellow colour , second circle should have green colour and again third circle should have the yellow colour like 1st one , again 4th circle should have green colour like 2nd circle one and go on same for remaining circle. how can i do that ? I tried using expression from chatgpt but it didn't help😫

Hi there,I recently encountered a new and unusual issue in After Effects (version 24.1). Here’s what happened:I performed rotoscoping on a footage clip of a subject’s hand to create a mask and separate it from the background. While everything appears fine within the composition, the problem arises during video export. The applied masked area is not visible in the exported video. Project setting:1920*1080 comp25 FPS Someone please address this issue ASAP, i need to deliver the project on urgent basis. I’ve attached a screenshot to illustrate the issue.  

Hi all Maybe I don't know something...You can write an expression for the position of a layer in different ways. For example like thisvar TargetL = thisComp.layer("GradComp")[TargetL.width, TargetL.height]or so[thisComp.layer("GradComp").width, thisComp.layer("GradComp").height] When you write it for the first time, the application shows an errorTypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'width')But with the second version of writing, such an error does not occur...  What is the difference???

Hello, I'm an amateur in After Effects. I need help to align multiple callouts.I want all callouts to face the camera and align with X,Y and Z axis of the camera. I don't want the callouts to orient towards the camera.I found an expression (link below) where I can make all callouts face and orient with the camera. But I don't know how to disable the orientation and the expression don't always face (align) the X,Y and Z axis perfectly with camera. Hello, is there a way to enable "allow scripts to write file and access network" via a script (.bat or something) or checked as default? I need to install a Plug-in on multiple clients that have no administration rights... is there a way i can solve this problem?

I have not worked on writing a script for a couple of versions of After Effects. I'm on a Mac using AE 2024 and can't find the extended scripts editor anywhere. I checked the documentation and searched the forums, and I found nothing. I've reset preferences, uninstalled, and tried everything I can think of. The only post I found on the missing File/Scripts menu item was a post from Dan Ebberts about something in the upper left corner using a Windows machine. I would love to know where it went and how to find it on a Mac.

Hello everyone!I'm trying to make a video with this style: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xGjcIYnxwYThe problem is that when I try to import XML file (with subtitle timings) to After Effects, I get error ''After Effects: AEGP Plugin Pro Import: One (or more) VIDEO footage files missing. ( 5027 :: 12 )''This timelapse video doesn't actually show what happens between exporting and importing the XML file so there might be something I'm doing wrong or not doing at all.This stuff is very new to me and I'd be really grateful if there's someone who can help me with this.Thanks already! 🙂

The title explains the issue. Block dissolve works to gradually dissolve a clip over the course of 30s, yet at the 14s mark the position of the blocks abruptly change position and I would like the clip to continue gradually fading away blocks in their present positions. Can any one help?

Hi Forum. Is there a method for AE to make keyframes in between the first and last frame in the timeline?In my example, I made a keyframe on the first position, and then each time I moved the shape, and added a keyframe manually, until the last frame. So if I make a keyframe on the first and last position in the timeline, is there a method AE can create the in between keyframes, so I dont need to do this process manually? I was asked by a colleague, that he needs 50 frames of a shape animation, but instead of a lineal transition, the shape needed 50 keyframes to move in a interval movement, like a click click click movement from let to right.

so i finished rendering an edit but 5 minutes after, after effects gave me a message saying something about the disk cache and now all of my projects are gone and its like my whole after effects has been reset. is there a way i can get my projects back? theyre still in my files but not on the actual program. please someone help !! (i also deleted a bunch of stuff to get more storage but my projects arent back)

Hello, I am having issue with adobe after effect. For some reasone whatever I do, software is choosing wrong GPU in my case it is using integrated one, instead of GeForce RTX 3050 Ti. I did read some posts already, and there were ideas to update drivers, set up after effect in windows graphics settings to appropriate gpu and change settings in NVIDIA Control Panel. But all of that didnt help to resolve my issue. Is there option to set up graphic card manually? I am using After Effect 2024, Windows 10, MSI laptop.

I have an image sequence that I'm rendering with pixel motion blur and it looks fine when I preview in AE but I get large, black blocky artifacts in the renders.  If I disable the motion blur there are no artifacts in the render.  The behavior is the same in 2023 and 2024 versions of both AE and media encoder.  I have also tried both hardware and software renders. Any suggestions? Thanks

TLDR: I made a script that un-precomposes precomps and returns layers with the correct in and out points. I made a full tutorial attached to this post with a link to buy in the description.If you use the Dynamic link from Premiere Pro to After Effects with (for example) captions/text you'll notice they become precomps inside of After Effects. This is irritating because you cannot target the text properties directly, you have to go into the precomps.I know this is a very, very niche solution but it saves you from copying/pasting layers out of precomps or having to go inside of them in the first place.I originally used the unprecompose plugin from aescripts to solve this problem but I kept having to use the UI pop up with a list of options... This script instead allows you to bind it and select the precomps to unprecompose, that's it! All the best and I hope it helps.https://youtu.be/l7KO2xdxwaU 

Hey Support Team,  I downloaded an after effect template from Motion Array and now i encountered a problem: I would like to use a title from the After Effects file (template) more often but with different content. But if I change the content of one title, the content of the other titles changes automatically. I have duplicated the titles and worked on them, but it just doesn't work. It's probably because of the links between the sub-compositions. Unfortunately, I don't know how to remove these links. I have been doing research on the net for a long time, but have not found an answer. Therefore I turn to you now, maybe you can help me. I would be very happy about an answer. Regards,Leonie

Hello all,I’m a little stuck here. I’m trying to take my 1080x1080 (square) composition and resize it to 16:9 and 9:16 aspect ratios without having to manually go in and resize everything. First,I go to file>scripts>scale composition> adjust width to 1920px>scale. After,I go to composition settings>adjust height to 1080>Ok.  But, when I do this the composition seems to scale in and not fill the frame with the new aspect ratio. My layers and such are cut off...

Hey everyone, I have this problem, I have imported an illustrator file on AE.I'm trying to convert the layers into a mask, but I can't. I can only convert them into a shape layer, and when I'm trying from a shape layer, I have a rectangle around my shape, but not actually the shape itself. How can I fix this, please?
