It's just all manner of "abstract" backgrounds and that in itself kiss basically a category. Most of the time it's simply used to reference fractal noise effects, particle systems and macroscopic footage where the texture is more important than the actual subject.

I'm sure there's literally hundreds of clips on the usual sources liek Adobe stock, Pond 5, Getty Images and whatnot. Of course not all of it will be free.
