Hello,I am a new user. I am creating a course where the learner needs to click on a button that opens up a new window (they are supposed to read/watch something).Unfortunately, this action doesn't stop the slideshow, which has progressed many slides before the learner returns to the actual course page she started from. How can I pause the slideshow when the user uses such a button? Could a combination of actions resolve this? Many thanks
I had previously got this working on a different LMS however I am now using Cornerstone On Demand and am limited by what SCORM values I can use in reports. Previously I had sent a custom text variable containing user feedback from within the module, this went to the cmi.comments field which could then be pulled off and analysed in a report.Instead I am left now with only the suspend_data option. I am currently trying to use javascript like this to pass the variable -SCORM_CallLMSSetValue("cmi.suspend_data","/"+window.cpAPIInterface.getVariableValue("Feedback_Comments"));In this example "Feedback_Comments" is the name of the variable. This exact code worked with cmi.comments but doesn't work with suspend_data, am I missing something obvious? Or is it not possible to pass variables to suspend_data in the same way? Thanks in advance,
I am using Captivate 2017 and I have a course for 2 user groups, the course contains 3 case studies (with several questions for each).User group 1 needs to view case study's 1 and 2 and User group 2 needs to view all 3 case studies. What is the best way to set this up and how do I get the quiz results to reflect the 2 different user groups?
Hi Gang,Apparently there is a trend for people who have to take eLearning courses (but can't be bothered) to palm the task off to someone else, so they can show their completion certificate, get 'HR' off their back but not have to put in any personal effort.A client has asked if there is any way to stop this, and ensure the actual user shown on the certificate was the one taking the course. I must admit, I can't think of a way to ensure this, but I wonder if that's just because I'm a luddite and there are plenty of new fangled ways to make sure, hence the question.
Hey there,I'm currently working for the languages department at my Uni. We'd like to create a Captivate programme which allows students to read about basic linguistic topics as well as to complete a quiz.I am sorry if I chose the wrong words for what I am trying to explain, I have set our Captivate to German. When clicking on a false answer in a quiz, I have activated theses boxes that appear to say that the chosen answer is false. Now, I'd like to make that box clickable so that it reads something like that:False answer - Click here to get to the information part againSo that the 'false answer box' links to a certain slide which explains the grammatical feature tested. I couldn't find any option on how to make the false box clickable!Thank you for your help!
Hi!I’ve created a project with several quoted buttons. I duplicated the buttons to get 2 attempts with different quotations each: 1st button/attempt = 5 points2nd button/attempt = 3 points and last = 0 points. The problem is that I’ve tried to answer everything correctly and, instead of 100%, the LMS only reports 63,69%.I'm using SCORM 1.2:What am I doing wrong? Am I complicating? Thanks!Inês Costa
Hi there, I want to enable a debugging window to launch when a course is launched in LMS 365. I go to the scormdriver.js and change the SHOW_DEBUG_ON_LAUNCH=false to SHOW_DEBUG_ON_LAUNCH=true The debugging window launches alright, but it stays blank. Would anyone have an idea if I have to change something more? For Storyline SCORMs, changing the line to SHOW_DEBUG_ON_LAUNCH=true works well. Maybe I am missing a step? Thank you in advance BThis is what I can see in the debugger window when pressing F12.
So I've been working with Captivate for about a year now... just got a new laptop with a 1080p screen, and all of a sudden problems were constant with my scalable HTML5 output (flashing between slides, some objects disappearing completely, etc.). The solution, though, is as simple as resizing the window down to what I assume is similar to (and smaller than) the project resolution I'm working with.I'm not super happy about it, but I don't think it will present an issue for more than a small percentage of my users... but I'm wondering what my options are. FYI - the problem appears in Google Chrome, but not in Internet Explorer, which leads me to believe it may be even be a temporary problem, if future browser updates improve Chrome's scaling.I saw a post from 2014 asking if HTML5 output could be set to scale down, but not to scale upwards, which I think would be a robust solution, but at the time, the consensus seems to have been that it wasn't feasible: Is it possible to only allow down
Hello,I'm working with Captivate 9 and yes I've already found contributions to it, but I don't understand some of them.I'm working on a very big project and it's so that I create most of the graphics in Power Point because it's better and easier.I did some tests a few days ago to see what is possible with Captivate and noticed that Copy & Paste of PP objects works. These are inserted as clipart objects into Captivate. This still worked a few days ago and since then I have changed some settings and now all of a sudden it doesn't work anymore. I don't know why but it really worked! There are a lot of people who say this wouldn't work but I wonder why it worked for me and no I didn't imagine that. I have some objects that were taken over exactly like that O_o therefore I ask myself what is now going on that does not work any more.Thank you
Hi Adobe Captivate users! If you’re looking to improve your skills, there’s a new Advanced Captivate class just around the corner. Josh Cavalier of Lodestone is teaching a 2-day hands-on class. Dates are April 1-2 and you can attend at their Charlotte, NC location or online from the comfort of your office or home.Josh is a great instructor and I’m excited to attend this class soon after the Learning Solutions conference in Orlando this month. Thought I’d post about this class in case it‘s helpful to others.Cheers,Rita Amladi
Has anyone experienced issues with event videos displaying on an iPad for a course published to an LMS? I encode all videos as MP4 through Adobe Media Encoder. For some reason, some videos display and play perfectly, while others won't even show up on the slide (much less play). The video object is set to display for the whole slide, so I don't believe it's a timeline issue, and they are not set to Auto Play.I can upload the course to SCORM Cloud, start it through Chrome or Safari on an iPad, and the videos display properly. However, when I load the course to the LMS and it's loaded via the LMS app (SumTotal), I encounter the issue I described above. SumTotal support really isn't much help, so I figured I would check on this side to see if anyone has encountered the same kind of issue. I'll add that the courses are downloaded to be taken offline via the SumTotal app.The baffling part is that all the videos are encoded the same way through Media Encoder.I'm using Captivate 2019.
Hi all,Everything goes as well as intended until it gets to the setup. The 2GB package that you download from the site extracts fine, but when it gets the the setup the window is too small to do anything with. The window cannot be resized and there is no button visible that allows me to continue.Screenshot:Its not that I have too small of a screen to use it properly, I have 2 1080p screens extended together (one is vertical, don't know if that info will be helpful, it does cause Krita to act a little weird for me). I also have the creative cloud app installed (window size looks like its from there).System specs:OS: Windows 10CPU: Core i-5 4460GPU: NVidia GTX 1050ti(Horizontal main monitor), Intel graphics(Vertical monitor)RAM: 8GBLet me know if any more info is needed
Does anyone know how to make the new play arrow that appears when you publish a lesson accessible with the tab key?Anne Richardson
Hello everyone! I am pretty new to Captivate, so I will try and explain my question as clearly as possible! I am creating a template for a project I am working on. In Master Slide View, I have added Smart Shape placeholders for objects (eventually buttons) I want to appear on that type of slide. When I insert that Slide (Lets call it Slide 1) to the filmstrip, I double click to activate the smart shape, then press "Use as button." I am able to apply the action I want to the button. (Action 1) However, when I create a additional slide (Slide 2) from the same master slide, and I follow the same steps above, but instead give a button a different action (Action 2), then button on Slide 1 changes from Action 1 to Action 2. It seems somehow that by creating this type of smart shape placeholder, it links the type of action somewhere to the background code of the Master slide object. I have found that if I Cut, then Paste the button before I apply an action, they will no longer be linked and w
I'm using screenshots (PNG) in Captivate and they are really poor. I've done math and adjusted my monitor resolution, still no love in the quality. I'm digging deep. Now, what is really puzzling is the Captivate shapes are pixelated really bad as well. I know Captivate is a bit-mapped app, but this is a big hint that something else my be happening that I'm not aware of.Can anyone offer any support as to something I'm missing?I'm using a MacBook Pro w/ Built in Retina Display, LG UltraFine extended monitor, I'm on Mojave OS, and I'm using Captivate 2019.Thanks in advance.AlonzoHere is an image clip ... See the poor quality of circle and poor resolution of the image?
I have a slide (#2) with an event video (1 hour) inserted where we need our attorneys to finish it to receive credit, so Captivate playbar was removed so they can't skip ahead. I added a timer widget to the bottom of the video slide so they can see how they are progressing through the one hour video playback, but when I pause the video, the counter still continues to count. How do I fix this so when user pauses video, the counter also pauses until they click play. The widget is named Timer01.I wonder if you can even do this because it's a built-in widget.Slide #1 is intro and Slide #3 is thank you slide they must get to in order to receive credit via our LMS.Thanks for any help. Our configuration management person was just wondering if one day a .cptx were to get lost from a project that had been published as an HTML5 or .swf project was there a way to reverse it back and create a .cptx?
I am looking to create a project where it plays a mp4 video hosted on vimeo. Upon completion of that video (play head reaches the end of the slide with video), it automatically moves to the next slide which is a google form. First question, does anyone have suggestions besides captivate to do something like this? Because I don't want the user to be able to advance to the next slide without seeing all of the video, multi-slide syncronized video seems to be the choice I'd want to make but in reading the documentation, it looks like I can't stream that from an external source and have to have the full video file embedded into my project and the resulting HTML5. Is that accurate or can I maintain my vimeo stream of the encoded mp4?
We're experiencing some weird behavior that we've not experienced before. We have a Captivate 9 project where the designer has copied some content from previous version of Captivate. When it is published it will play as a .swf but won't load or play as an HTML5 project. I've tested this in Firefox, Edge and IE. We don't use Chrome here. When another developer tried publishing it again he noticed during publishing when he looked at the Task Manager window it was switching back and forth showing Captivate 6 and then Captivate 8 over and over. We've not had any problems previously like this.Any Ideas?
I have a course with fluid boxes so it can be viewed on a desktop or Galaxy S8. I have one slide that is not set-up with fluid boxes that has a video and it currently shows it in portrait view (see image below). Is there an Advanced Action--or some other way--for the browser to tell the course to change the video to landscape mode? Because I'm behind a firewall and the IP address is constantly changing, I can't use the Live Preview on a Device to know if this is a dumb question.Thanks.
Hi!I created a course using the Delivery challenge template. When I get to the last question, Captivate doesn't score the quiz and move on to the results. I was wondering where the code is to tell it what the last question is, or how it determines that it needs to do this. Does anyone know?Anne Richardson
Hi Guys,We are building a course for the people with disabilities, I want to use the spacebar as pause and play or I want to add it as a shortcut key on the button. Is there any to make it possible? I'm using Adobe Captivate 2017 version.I hope there is a solution on the issue. Thanks in advance.
I'm trying to do some troubleshooting for an HTML5 SCORM file I created in Captivate when it's uploaded into Cornerstone OnDemand, but I'm having a problem with getting the debug to work. I've enabled the debug options in scormdriver.js file after I've published the file so blnDebug=true and SHOW_DEBUG_ON_LAUNCH=true, and while a window does appear when I launch the file the pop-up window is blank.I've tested this in SCORM Cloud and in Cornerstone, but it's not working in either system. I also inquired of the problem with SCORM Cloud and they looked at the file and they're seeing that it's making the right calls and should be loading the debug but they're also unsure about why it's not displaying anything. If you look at the code for the pop-up window when it appears it just has an opening and closing head and body tags but nothing else.I also went back to Captivate version 7 and the debug doesn't work when publishing an HTML5 file in this version either. Any ideas or does anyone know
I have a subscription to Presented and I am using the Power Point provided by Office 365 Premium. It works but does not update well, so I have to search for presenter updates and manually upgrade. My real question is, what would be the best set of tools to use from the Adobe set if I wanted to create training webinars and Power Points. I use Power Point for all live presentations and often convert using Presenter after the first live event. I would like better graphics and video options.
Help...I am having challenges publishing a Captivate file into SCORM 1.2. The course is created from a PPT slide show. We have recorded audio to 5 slides and imported video into 2 slides, There are also 3 drag and drop exercises in the training, as well. Everything appears to be working appropriately in the Captivate Preview mode, but when I publish to SCORM the course will not load. I tried to test the SCORM package in SCORM cloud and it won't load there either. When I originally tried to publish the course I received errors that HTML5 did not support some of the assets. Those assets were the glow feature I had on the drag option. I removed that feature from my drap options and published. Still no success. Any thoughts?
