https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SxNChhm0jo I've built an example model following the same method used by okaysamurai (blue one)everything was clear and understandable untill I tried to "change the speed of the eye blinking"I wanted to slow it down, and changed the cycling option's fps from 1 to 5 and my puppet refused to blink anymoreI change it back to 1fps and it works I even tried on example model provided by okaysamurai and when increased the cycling option value the puppetdoes not blink it's eyes anymore ... I just want to adjust the blink's speed and it is not working haha ...
I'm trying to check on the Character Animator free 7 days trials, but I can't have access, it says expired. Please help
I can't tell what I'm doing wrong in this test rig. I'm playing with magnets and dynamics and have 2 "sharable" puppets that have been reused in the setup. 3 wand-like draggers, and 2 dragon-like things. The 3 wands are within a puppet, and the 2 dragons are in another, and both of these puppets are within a scene master puppet... why? so that I can have the dragger behavior at the top level and then can pick any draggable object and move it around. OK so the kicker is - in the dragons puppet the two dragon's magnets attract to each other, and to the wands. But in the wands puppet the wand magnets attract to the dragon magnets but not to the wands. The magnet behavior is just a bit unpredictable... so am I rigging the whole thing wrong? Is there some behvior blocking another? PS> Side note, I was having a heck of a time with the dynamic chains vibrating when they were being dragged. found that the top-level dynamic group MUST have a transfo
Has anyone experimented much with MIDI beyond an alternative for keyboard triggers? In particular, can they control draggers or the face angle? I came across Using Character Animator With Hot Hand Wireless MIDI Controller - YouTube which was pretty nice. Seems to support X/Y/Z spatial positioning for I think it was $50? I would love one on each hand to drag the character hands around.I was looking at the HTC Vive API (same sort of thing, but much more expensive a bulky) - looks fairly easy to get position tracking of the two hand controllers, which could be a nice way to control puppet hands (via draggers). But same problem, I don’t see how to feed that into CH to control Draggers.
I've added some props(yoyos) I wanted to hinge to the hand of a puppet and immediately got this error, which stopped all my dragger handles and walk cycles from working. 😞 Any idea what this is?
Okay, so I have a biped puppet who needs to stand and gesture and move, but also walk. The problem is, per the tutorials (and in practice), I've pinned her feet down with Fixed points so her feet and legs don't pivot and fly around with her upper body as I sway back and forth. That part works great, as expected.....But I also need to animate her walking. I can't drag her feet in walking motions while they're fixed to the ground, so how do I accomplish this dual tasks? Do I have to replicate the whole puppet and take off the Fixed points and replace them with Draggable handles, just for the walking moments? I'd prefer to avoid duplication of puppets, but I understand there could be limitations that require it for the time being! Thanks for your help!
First, happy Thanksgiving. I'm sitting around waiting on the turkey and trying to make my puppet walk. I've successfully done it before, but, having installed the latest Ch update (2019, v2), I decided to start over following Okay Samurai's new walking tutorial. I successfully did this the other day on a less complicated puppet. Today though, I re-imported my much more elaborate puppet from Ps, added the walking behavior to the top level, applied and mapped handles to the limbs and went to record. AND MY BODY DISAPPEARED!!! It's really terrifying. My head bobs up and down as if walking, but there's no body. If I remove the walk property, my body returns, but, of course, he just stands there.I'll happily provide whatever information or photos anyone would like. I am certain this is something simple and basic.Martin
Hi everyone,Just starting out with the program and after building my first character and using it in a video on YouTube I have some questions - these will be basic and if they have been asked before then please do send me to the relevant post. On the blank puppet, there is a green dotted line from the eyebrow tag and other facial features to the base of the head (image attached) - I don't seem to have this - what is it and how do I get it? I'm trying to learn illustrator - is it worth continuing to learn this or just stay with photoshop? What size should I make my puppets - as in pixels? And finally - any suggestions for keeping calm during the rigging process 🤣🤣 Thanks inwils
I think it does (just a little) but according to some people it doesn'tI want to know what's the truth
Is there a walk cycle blank puppet or a puppet like Kaufman and Eliza that uses illustrator files. I like the idea of being able to zoom in with vector files.
Where is Lotty Roo?
I've been trying to troubleshoot this the past few days and I can't seem to get it working. I go and download the NDI tools for windows. Made sure both OBS and character animater where closed while installing. The stream icon thing in character animator was blue, meaning everything should have installed correctly. So I go into edit preference to chnage my live output. I only see NDI output and not newtek NDI output like all other walkthroughs show. I didn't think much of it at the time. I open studio monitor and realize that it will only show what my character is doing if I have character animator as my active screen, and even then it wont capture all of it. I go into OBS and the option to captor the NDI output isn't there. I have:Restarted my computer.Redownloaded the NDI files after fully deleteing them off my computerRedownloaded OBS I've looked through the forms and google and I can't seem to find a fix for this.
Hi,I have setup up facial expressions to triggers, and also auto-blinking.Problem: Left eye correctly doesn´t blink when triggers are activated, but the right one blinks over the triggered swap sets. The only difference I see in the Layer properties is that the left (correct) Lid is Attached to "Left eye", but the right Lid is Attached to "<Right eye>" - there´s these extra <> signs. What can I do to fix this?
I am trying to create a mask and this is the closest I have been able to make it work. I tried nesting the masking group, but that just made my item disappear completely. How would you create a proper sub-layer to make the mask work? What I have now is a complete different setup than a sublayer because that is the way I have made it work in other cases. The problem I have is that the mask is changing the color of the item and not maching the original color. Is there a way I can fix it? Here is a video of the setup I have. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9P7fCLzo3s
I am using numerous layer picker behaviors so that a single puppet can be changed to look like a variety of characters. I'm using nested subgroups, adding them to controls, and grouping similar sets.I have a Body Style Group for my two body styles heavy and average. Inside is a Heavy Color group with layers of that heavy body in different colors. Same for average. I also have a Head Style group (thin head and flat head) with nested subgroups containing each of the skin colors (white, brown, red).I created the Head Group first, added the group and subgroups to Controls. I grouped the controls for skin color. Everything is working fine at this point.I did the same for body style and color. I followed the same procedure. Even redid it after it didn't work. The problem is, when I change the body color slider, it changes the head skin color too. No logical reason why it should do this.I have unique names for all of my behaviors.&nb
Latest example puppets are now available at:https://www.adobe.com/go/chexamples
I need to maks an item to make is disappear up to a certain point, but instead the masking item is disappearing the instant I apply a mask to it. See video below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OgJn0QI5GWA
Hi, I made a swapset for a hand move but when I trigger it, even though the move happens, the default position remains aswell... instead of vanishing...
Head floats, not attached to body. The head and body groups have no crown turned on. Head has subgroup of 5 different head turns.
I'm a first timer and I need help.I created a puppet in photoshop and imported it into Character Animator. The head attributes all work fine, the eyes, eyelids, brows all are working great. See attached video test. For reasons unknown to me, the head will not attach to the body. I have used the staple tool, but it still will not attach.I'm guessing it's something simple, but I just don't get it. It's possible that I have done something wrong in the original photoshop file.Could someone look at my .psd file if I send it to see if I have created the layers properly?I have a client waiting to see this and I'm getting frustrated.Help please!!!
Hello everyone, I'm having problem on setting up my character to walk right , i have looked at many videos and still cant seem to fix my problem. as you can see his arm is not right, i have try stick tool and nothing. please help
I want to place a clipping mask on a red box that I am going to animate as moving fluid. The next drawing right below the mask is an "empty container". I want the red box to move up and down the white cube as is it is filling the container. Check video below. How can I do this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3Rc_Qnpwr4
Are there any links in which I can watch how all of the behaviors work on Character animator?
I've looked at the rigging and of course as a newbie im puzzled. It shows the range of motion for the eye pupil because it thinks the eyebrows I stuck on the eyeballs are part of the eyeballs. Which is logical. However. When I look at the rigging I see an outline for the range of motion for the pupil (based on the eyelashes) and it's too big. But I don't see any way to modify it. I hate to delete the eyelashes, and I'm too new to figure out how to give them their own layer....
I've spent two days modifying a puppet. I'm a newbie! and I've even rendered out a short movie.I've exported the puppet (I think) though I wasn't sure where to export it to.How do I find that puppet to reuse it in another project?I can find it in the media folders as a psd but it's dimmed and I can't access it.I've really searched the help files and ccan't find an aswer. I could plow through a ton of tutorials and maybe find an answer but I just want to reuse the same puppet in a new project.
