I'm going in circles trying to figure out why the face capture of my eyebrows is distorting the head and other assets. I've made them independently and gone through the tags but I feel Im missing something. Anytime I raise or lower, it distorts. Please help 😞
I've been using CH for animation for a while and want to apply for some CH gigs but a lot of them include rigging the character too. I've taken a lot of tutorials and have made a few practice rigs swapping out the art from existing rigs and they work fairly well. On Fiverr and Upwork some people are charging $20 for rigs and others $200+ but a lot factors into that including what country they're located in and the complexity of the puppet.I'm talking to someone now and the character would have maybe two 3/4 views (can't be flipped), blinks, lip-sync, draggable arms, and some dangle added to the hair. I'm just wondering for someone that makes rigs a lot or was ever employed as a CH rigger what the expectations are so I don't scare a client away with an estimate or end up selling myself short. So I have a puppet in Adobe Character Creator that works great for the head animations (head turning, lip sync, etc.) but trying to rig and animate the body is a nightmare, IK rigging is the only thing it provides and trying to get an elbow/knee to bend the way you want it to while dragging the hands/feet around is impossible and there are no recent tutorials offering solutions. Is is possible for me to just use Character animator to do the head animations and then drop the project file into Animate and attach it to a puppet I've imported and rigged there? Obviously asking for a bone tool in Character Creator is too much, neither is it obvious to the devs to include it, so If I have to use both programs in tandem to make my character work then I can live with that.
Hi all! My little pup's tail wag is driving me crazy. Is there a way to hide the movement lines BEHIND the BODY? The body is a white solid, 100% opacity. The tail object is placed behind the body, and hides appropriately. RTFM'd, watched all relevant YT videos but still consider myself an absolute noob, this being my first scratch-made puppet. Hi, I'm a pretty much novice when it comes to animation but I was hopeing someone could help as i have searched all over youtube for an answer and I cant seem to find one. I have mad an imported a character but I cannot seem to add expressions via triggers I have added another "blink" but it overlays on top on the exsiting eye as is when I press the trigger the eyeball remains visable and the blink lines just overlay them in the performance. There is most likely a simple fix I just dont know it! I would very much appreciate some helpe please.(I have added screenshots for reference) I am also having problem's with the arm rigging as it seems the stretch the arm and warp it too much.

Looking for a solution as to why CA can't find my webcam? It appears to be quite a common issue and I've got to say a very frustrating one. All the YT tutorials show the webcam working, and without that happening the program is pretty pointless. I have the very latest version and am using the Elgato option which uses my phone. It works in W11 camera app. My monitor is a Samsung M8 with a webcam, but CA won't recognise that either, and why I'm trying Elgato as I don't like the idea of going out and buying another webcam, and that might not work either? Is there a webcam that is guaranteed to work by Adobe?...Why are things so hard!!
HiI took the Baker (Samurai puppet) as an exemple and try to pu my own drawing. I cant' figure out what's going on. Impossible to drag the arms with my mouse.Any idea?It looks so terrible 😅 6 hours I'm on it. I just want to give up. I think it's not for me.ThanksBestS
Hi guys My characte remians static whenever I pick a part to animate ie I animate the head but the arm movements I recorded before don't play during recording. This makes it very difficult to act out the character when nothing else moves. Does anyone have a workaround for this?
I have a puppet that I originally rigged years ago. I have not used it in 2 years. I know there have been many updates since then but I was surprised that many of the triggers and behaviors worked. However the eyes would not move with my eyes. I switched it over to "keyboard input." There was still no movemnet. I cranked up the "keyboard strength" to 999% and got a little wiggle. Any idea what is going on?
I am unable to import this file from my iPhone in the voice memo app to character animator. I've spent days trying to accomplish this simple task . Please help

Is there any way to set up a puppet who's arms and hands can pass over the face?Naturally, my puppet's arms are attached to the body group, which is underneath his head. Reversing that order would cause all sorts of problems.Can the arms be attached to the body if they are not part of the same group? Is there something else i'm missing?
Hello! I´m pretty new to CH, but I already made my puppet and currently trying to record a scene. I had pre recorded audio which I import and lip sync, so there are already visemes added to my scene, BUT I want to add some visemes and triggers manually to complemente what I already have, but when I try to right click the mouse button nothing happens. How can I add other visemes and triggers that I have to a scene with pre recorded lip sync audio? Thank you so much in advance for your kind help.
So when I animate my puppets. I like to do it one by one. Lip, Mouth Triggers, Lid Triggers, Head turning, Arm Draggers. Lastly, I do the head movements. However, I get so preoccupied getting the head to move the right way that I forget to move the eyebrows up and down at the same time. Is there a way to do these things separately? Like to do just a take wiht heads tilts and movements. And then another take just moving the eyebrows? They always overwrite eachother.
Hello, I made an animation it is beautiful, but I am asked to move the eyebrows in a certain way, but without changing the animation of the head and the rest of the body... is there a way to move the eyebrows without moving the head?
Hello Everyone, I have developed a simple puppet for the purpose of translating the English Alphabet into both the American Sign Language Manual Alphabet and also Morse Code. I did this using triggers and swap sets, and precisely 27 photos of my right hand. The puppet, "Handy" is available for free download from my website, www.thedopefiends.com and I'd like to upload it to my CC files to provide a link, but I seem to be having an issue. The website says that the file has uploaded, but I can't find it in my Assets. If I can identify what is going on, I will supply another link.Otherwise, anyone interested in trying it out can download it free from my website. Hi, I'm on a Mac (OS 10.15.6) and installed CA recently and could not get it to open. I got fed up with trying so uninstalled it and left it alone for a week or so. Tonight I reinstalled it and have tried to get it to launch. It quiut on launch so I searched and found a link online to someone else having the same problem. They contacted Adobe Help who suggested they ditch the preferences and restart the app. I did this and it actually got past the startup screen and seemed to be working okay.I then quit the program and tried to restart it again but once again it quit on launch. I therefore binned the preferences a second time and once again it started up. I tried shutting it down and relaunched it. Yes, you guessed it, it quit on launch again. I've done this a few times now and it seems the only way I can get the programm to run is if I ditch the preferences first. This is no good, I can't keep doing this.Can anyone help please?RegardsJ.
HiI took Baker puppet from samurai as a template and try to make my own puppet. For some reason the left pupill moves independently. I checked and I have exactly the same behaviors. So I don't get why this left pupill goes right and left alone.I saw "Basic Eye Rigging (Adobe Character Animator Tutorial) from Samurai but I cant' figure out what going on.Any idea?ThanksBestS
HiI try to make my own character with Baker puppet layers. I love the way the layers are moving creating life. I imported the pds file in photoshop and just changed one leg to make a test with my drawing. But when I reimport in Character animation noting moves. Even though I rigged again the leg of course. Any idea?ThanksBestS
Hi there!I'm trying to import a Scene which I created in Character animator to After Effects with the ability to then convert it to a Lottie file to use in Webflow. Is this possible to do using a dynamic link? I'm new to this, so bare with me. After importing my Character Animator scene to After Effects, it seems that since it's now a dynamic link, the keyframes made in Character Animator are no longer editable. Is that correct?Help would be very appreciated. Thanks.
I want my character to start walking from right to left starting from offscreen onto the screen. I do "Record One Motion" and set the character off the screen using - Anchor Point X. The walking is fine; Character walks fine, but when the take finishes, it slides back to off screen.I use motion library walking behavior- attaching screenshots.Any help would be appreciated! @oksamurai
Howdy! I have a character that I'm trying to make jump. When she jumps, I want her feet temporarily unpinned to the floor so I can make her legs straighten out and her toes point. I've tried making her legs swap sets, so one set is "ungrounded" and one set is normal, but I'm still getting some weird distortion on her legs. For reference, here is how her legs look normally + how they're rigged up (both legs are rigged the same but with opposite L/R tags). And here's how they look when I try to make her jump, + how I tried to rig the jumping leg so it wouldn't be pinned to the ground. Thanks again for any help y'all can offer! 🙂
HiI downloaded the Free version of the Dudley puppet (from Electro Puppet). Arms and legs do not move. I can drag them correctly with my mouse. But I am unable to make them move with my webcam. Nothing occurs when I move my arms. I calibrate my webcam several times. I do not find the green part where I have to pin the parts of the shouders and legs. How can I do if when I dragg the shoulder point no green part appears?ThanksBestS
