Questions

Not sure if it's a bug bug it's driving me crazy because i'm having to do a lot of guess work. Is there a way to make sure it shows what is actually happening at any given position without having to play and try to remember? Scrubbing the timeline works as well but as soon as i stop it resets. Thanks

Hello!  I just discovered the Motion Library and watched Okay Samuri's video on it. I was looking to play with it on some of the pre-built characters. however, it seems like some work for this and some don't despite being built the same.  I see that they need Behaviors: Bosy and Limb IK I also know that they need the rigging and they all seem to, but most just seem to stand there when choosing from the motion library. Any advice or insight?

Hi As per the title,  Been trying for hours. I even modified my artwork to make it simpler thinking that would fix it but it's just as bad as before... I've uploaded the puppet here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ihKn9_lDM5DuXcGlYNd5IcweC083AzyR/view?usp=sharing Thanks

I would like to use body tracking for arm movement, because it seems to look more real than dragging arms with a mouse. Mouse arm movements must be done one-at-a-time, and when you do, you cannot see what you recorded for the other arm for position and timing. However, after I click Calibrate while I am standing in the "A" position, from that point on the puppet will NEVER put its arms straight down to the side. This happens for ALL puppets I select from options in Puppet Maker. After I click Calibrate, from that time on the "arms-at-rest" position makes the puppet's arms look like a horseshoe.Does anyone have an idea how I can get the resting position of the arms straight down?Thank you in advance!

I've run out of ideas to fix my puppets arms. The arms won't move. I put sticks in. I put a draggable handle and the arms just pull the body and distort it. I used a template puppet to build this puppet. Thanks. I appreciate the help.

Hey thereI would like to make my own Dinosour Puppet and i have noticed that the stock puppets dont have this type of character available. therefore I would like to know I could install a photo (perhaps from photoshop) and able to break features of a dinosour down in order to make it move (legs, eyes, arms Mouth etc) within adobe Character Animation. I would LOVE any guidance to making anything like this possible please. Thank you for your time.

Greetings all,     I'm just getting my feet wet with CA. I created a Flying Duck with two Wing Positions (Up and Down) and imported it as a Puppet into CA. Each wing undergoes a Color Change because we see either the Top or Bottom side of a wing as it transitions. Please see the Screenshots below.     I have two Questions: What is the best way to Rig it, for Flying? I tagged the Wings as Arms. How to Animate it?     Thanks in advance.Regards,Rajnesh

HiI don't know whether I have inadvertently clicked on some button but the timeline is not visible with the puppet on the record screen. The timeline can only be seen when I click either on Timeline Scene or on Window>Timeline and produces the puppetless screen shot 2. This means that without both things being on the screen simultaneously I cannot gauge how much time is elapsing or at which stage further recordings need to be added. If someone can shed light on this I would be very grateful.

If not what is the cheapest way? Thanks in advance.

Since my characters do not speak, and there is no reason for sad or angry, I have 3 variations of the mouth. Smile, grin, and closed lips with slight upturn.  I have deleted all lip sync layers from blank.psd.  Are there specific triggers for just 3 stages of a smile? Are there correct names for 3 stages of a smile?   Thanks!

I cannot open Character Animator Pro mode. Each time I want to switch from Starter mode it takes me to the start a free trial page for the whole CC plan. I have a CC account but I am on a free trial at the moment. What can I do?

Hello,     I'm new to CA, and having trouble implementing a Walk Cycle. The Head and Neck get stretched.     I've attached the following:Screenshot of the Scene with the Puppets Stationary.Quicktime of the Walk Cycle. Puppet's Neck Tagging. Puppet's Head Tagging.      Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks much.Regards,Rajnesh

I have been exporting to MP4 from Character Animator for weeks.Today, I go through the same steps I always have, and this window never changes:When it claims it is done exporting, the thumbnail looks like this:When I double-click it, it is a black, one-second video.I haven't changed any settings in Character Animator since yesterday.Any idea what has happened? Thanks!

HelloI'm going to start making a 15 min long youtube video. I have a script to do a explanatory video with a puppet in Character Animator. But the character will only be one element in a finished video that must be created in Premiere and After Effects (several clips etc. will be shown as the puppet explains different things). I have no experience with Premiere and After effects so I have to hire someone on Fiverr to edit and finalize the video. My question is; in what order should this happen? Because in practice there are two different productions that have to be merged and fit together, but they have to be produced by both me and the video editor who completes the video, at different times. Do you have any experience and suggestions for me?

Can anyone help please?Thank you!

Hello,  Does anyone have an idea as to why the mouse control in the Eye Gaze behaviuor might not be working, when all the other options for control the eyes work on the same charcter?  Thanks!

If animating by hand and draggables, seems like an obvious thing to import a video to match your animation. I can't find a way to do this, which seems odd.

Hi all. New to Character Animator, but not to Adobe Flash/Animate. I have a cast of characters with perfectly round heads and simplistic features. My first attempt to control my perfectly round head puppet seemed to recognize the shape of my face. My puppet file is a PSD.  Thanks!

Can someone please confirm if this is a bug or the product has changed. I am rigging a character for the first time and have followed exact steps as guided by the @oksamurai in the the youtube video.UsingCharacter Animator Version 23.1Device : Macbook Pro with M1macOS : Ventura 13.2.1Tested with both Apple silicon and intel version. The arms are not connecting to the origin automatically. I have tested my custom pupeet and even lots of sample puppets from adobe. This is for the steps outline here for the timestamp https://youtu.be/hK-DjtiPzRs?t=1612The green dot line does not appear, also moving the dragger does not change to green square box. Please validate if this is a bug or something has changed since this video was made.

Hi everyone,When creating my character in Ai and adding gradients for example on the hair, when. I import the file to Ch for some reason the gradient doesn't show up. Is this normal? Thanks!

I just watched the great beginner tutorial linked below and was able to get my Illustrator character into the blank template. Very exciting. I added the IK feature to help with the arm bending. Question I have, is it possible that when the elbow flips that the hand also auto-flips? Seems like this would be very helpful. Haven't actually animated anything yet, just the camera tracking thing, but if my arm moves up and makes the character arm move/bend up the hand should flip. Thanks for any tips. https://youtu.be/JL024_E1AUk

hey, i am new to adobe animator and randomly when I was editing my puppet from adobe illturster this message came up and now I am unable to auto-sync artwork or even see my puppet.

just wondering....so, i downloaded the puppet 'dudley' and have edited him in illustrator to make him more what i want. It;s saved to a new location, and so, when i load him into character animator he no longer has any movements or triggers. I guess they are saved to the downloaded file? how do i get his movements and triggers over to the new dudley? any help welcome, thanks!

I want to know how to create a mouth and eye set that has no body or head.  I want to place it on a stop motion animation video.  I tried making layers of my puppet invisible: it worked a bit but the head kept reappearing randomly.   Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

I want to create puppets from scratch, but I can't seem to overcome the jaw issue. When the jaw moves, the body moves with it.When I use the premade Blank puppet, there is no such issue. I've compared Blank with my puppet, and I can't see a different. It must be something simple I've overlooked, but I can't find it. Since I'm making animal puppets, it's kind of tedious just m modifying Blank. And then, my animals are still called blank.
