How do I get Adobe Digital Editions to recognize the library on my SD card?

I have a Dell Venue Pro 8 running Windows 8.1.  It will not allow me to copy files via USB to it.  I physically took my micro SD card out of it and transferred the eBooks from my Windows 7 SP 1 laptop to the SD card.  When I reinserted my SD card into my Dell Venue Pro 8 ADE would not recognize the books on the card even though I had authorized the installation of ADE on the Dell.  Where is the setting in ADE to allow it to find my books?
