How to I get beyond the error message: no permission to copy the book?

How to I get beyond the error message: no permission to copy the book?  I have downloaded Adobe Digital Editions to my computer, authorized my computer, checked out and downloaded an e-book from the library.  When I attempt to transfer the book to my Nook, I get the error message "no permission to copy the book."
