My old reader has 32 books on it. can't download books to pc-error message licensed to different user account.

How do you download from old PRS-300 reader to PC  books purchased over the years?  When I purchased the books it was under an old ADE account using an email address I no longer have.  I do not remember the password.  I think I am tough out of luck but thought it wouldn't hurt to ask if there is a work around.
