When using dreamweaver, what is the different between "style" and "auto style"?  I have used both when creating font/color/size etc. and there seems to be no difference.  Maybe I should ask the question " When should I use "style" vs "auto-style" "

I have set up a subdomain amd would like to define a new site in Dreamweaver using the subdomain as root.  However, when I try to set it up I get a message saying because the site folder is inside the site root that it will cause synchronization problems.  I certainly don't want that!  Can anyone suggest a way to make this work? Thanks!

Since last week I am getting an error message everytime I upload an image, whether a new image or when I choose "should dependent files be included".File Transfer failed due to following reasons: - Internal data error: Transferred file size does not match the expected file size. This occurs on two web sites though I have not tried it on all my websites.I am able to successfully upload all the images using Filezilla, which I am having to do as a work around.Has a setting been changed since the latest update? I can't see anything obvious.There is a post about this in 2018, but not resolved.

Hi, All.  I would like to completely disable the jslinting in Dreamweaver v21.4.  I have done so in Prefrences > Linting, unchecking Enable Linting.  I have also gone into Manage Sites>Advanced>JS Lint but there is no option to turn it off there.  It is irritating, slows down my coding, is fairly useless as it tells you there is a problem, but not what the problem is other than "syntax error", and I would prefer it to be off as the preferences claim is should be.  Thanks.

Running Dreamweaver 21.3 (build 15593) under macOS Sonoma, right-clicking during code view and closing the context menu within 1 second causes Dreamweaver to crash, leaving no other option but force termination. Furthermore, the dreamweaver crash report does not appear after restarting the program after the forced termination. This behavior does not occur in other applications, so it seems to be a Dreamweaver-specific problem.

Is there any way to permanently hide the search results panel? It pops up after and find or search and replace. The window takes up too much screen space on a laptop and takes the window focus. I've been using DW for 5 years and don't see how to do this in the config files. Thanks for your help!!!

Hello all!  So I have recently started using Dreamweaver to build a website. Using a few tutorial I have been having fun using styles, I tried uploading the website using Filezilla as doing so via Dreamweaver did not work for me. So I saved my website as an index.php and uploaded it however the styles did not transfer along with it. I went and transferred the styles separately but that did not work either. So my question is how do I transfer the styles to my remote server using Filezilla?

I manage a static website that uses straightforward html coding on thousands of pages that have use server side includes for the header and footer. The site was recently moved from a rickety old server to the cloud and I am told that I cannot use SSIs anymore so when the site goes public it will be missing the headers and footers. Is there an alternative to SSIs that puts info on each page that can be changed? For example, the footer says "copyright 2024" and on Jan 1 each year I update that. I am assuming that I will need to edit each page to insert whatever replaces the SSI, but that would be a one-time thing. I hope. I'm using Dreamweaver 21.4 on a Mac, in case that's useful. The cloud storage network is the Ontario Library Research Cloud, and I have to use a web interface (Openstack Horizon) to upload files, and it uses an object-based storage system instead of the hierarchical system I'm used to (but luckily it mimics it!).Thanks, Madeline

Hi. I could use some help please. I'm helping my wife with her website and I'm stumped. The changes we made to her index HTML file aren't showing on her website. I've put any new files to the remote site and Dreamweaver is successfully connecting to the site via FTP. As someone who is unfamilar with Dreamweaver, is there something I'm missing like a "Publish Site" button? Thank you in advance!

Can anyone tell me how to prevent Dreamweaver from automatically changing pathways when I move folders? There are times I want to break links by moving files, but Dreamweaver has started to change the pathway without notifying me. I just want to turn this setting off, so that it never does this.  Thanks, 

What is going on? Why does this happen? No keyboard shortcuts work... going to Edit > Select All is ignored, too... I can type in code, but no clipboard ops? Save is also Disabled? Are you kidding?   When I try to Save As, it tries to save a completely different page in the editor - the first tab,, not the current active tab! When I try to then save the first tab, I get this cryptic message: ---------------------------Dreamweaver---------------------------The file you just saved is also open in this window.Reload the saved version in this window and lose changes?---------------------------Yes No--------------------------- What on Earth does that mean? I just bloody saved the file, of course it is open in the window...  Whati s happening, Adobe?   

I did "edit: select recently modified" in the "remote/local site" page, and uploaded those files. All the folders and sub-folders are now open. I used to be able to close them globally by doing "ctrl -" on the "site" folder, then just the plus (+) sign. And all folders were closed. It's not working like that any more. Any hints on how to globally collapse all folders? I don't know how many hundreds of folders I have; I'd rather not do each one separately... Some of the forums indicate that there should be + and - signs on the folders; the screenshot is what my site looks like, no + and - signs.

So i started my PC today and for no resason at all, without changes or updates, i can no longer connect to my host address. Now this isnt your usual situation as I have tried everything. I could still connect to other site hosts from DW. I could still connect to my host with FileZilla no problem. So , I switched to use a hotspot thinking maybe a router issue, no dice. I never needed ti before, but i dropped my firewalls and security. Nothing. I contact my hosting company, no issues on their end as I can stil connectwith Filezilla and no server changes. Now, I decided to unistall Dreamweaver....everytime I reinstall, the same site definitions come back and same issue. I tried purging EVERYTHING DW from my PC...ever registry entries, as many temp files as i could find. Still imports site definitions and same problem. Please help. Creative Cloud reports that my Dreamweaver is up-to-date.  My current installed version is 21.1.  I've tried a complete uninstall, after which i used the cleaner tool then reinstalled.  No change. Still no 21.4.  My legacy Win 10 PC, however, has 21.4.  What am i missing? I went through the steps listed here as well.Available updates not listed for Adobe Creative Cloud apps

OK, I think this is a pretty simple situation, but it's causing me no end of trouble! May be someone here can help. What I want to do is very simple: I need to move the local folder for a dreamweaver site to a new location. The complication is that this site has a GIT reposisitory. In the site's current location the GIT repository is working very nicely, along with a remote set up to a GitLab remote repository. All well and good so far. I started by copying the local folder from it's current location to the new location. I checked and the .git hidden folder and .gitignore hidden file got copied to the new location along with all the visible files. I then went into Dreamweaver and edited the site definition so that the path to the new local folder pointed to the new location. (I also checged the server definition as that is moving as well.) At this point Dreameaver always crashed, so I just restarted Dreamweaver. Only now all the stuff in the GIT panel is all gr

When I try to change properties of an image through the Properties panel, Dreamweaver 2020 (up-to-date) crashes randomly -- too often for comfort, it's annoying and absolute breaks my workflow. And when reopened, it lists only the file that experienced the crash for recovery, from all the files that were open, not reopening all. And using the wrong view, it doesn't save that, either. I use Catalina on a MacBook Pro. The crash report opens every time and tells me there's no solution for the problem. For how long, Adobe? What about fixing select + option + drag copy, matching selected items from design view in code view and other issues? These are real problems delaying our work.

When I attempt to edit my web pages in Dreamweaver, and upload them to my site, they WILL NOT load at all. The old page remains, and even  AFTER I delete the old page off the server entirely. When I reload the edited page, the OLD page is STILL THERE. NOTHING WORKS. My web host company cannot find the problem! This glitch is costing me money and making me angry. It needs to be fixed. I have no idea what to do. I've tested it in several browsers, and it's the same thing. 

HelloI have an issue where my site opens to the 'about' section rather than the top, i.e. 'home'. I see nothing in the HTML code directing that to occur.I have one scrolling index page seperated into sections.Home is id=C1, but it opens to id=C4, 'about'.is there somewhere else I can look, other than the Source Code of my site, to maybe figure this out?Thanks!!
