After a while working on a medium size document, File - Place (or command-shift-P) doesn't work. It shows some of the place dialog embeded in the document as a glitch.If we reset preferences works for a while and does it again. tried Illustrator versions 2022 and 2023, on MacOS Monterey 12.6.2. Any ideas? I have an image exported from Matlab as a pdf, since I often overlay additional pdf/vector-friendly elements on overall figures. The problem is, I cannot resize or move the image, it seems to only start repeating itself. I have done this sort of workflow for years and have only just encountered this with some images from Matlab.Default image with its bound box (in a pdf file):Attempting to scale the image casues a repeat of the image starting from the old boundary rather than just scaling the size:Same thing with moving the box (downward here) - it does not actually move the image, but seems to "roll" it: 

How can I turn this feature off? I'm trying to work on something very intricate so I'm constantly zooming in or out and it's so incredibly frustrating that it automatically jumps my view to the center of the object instead of the center of what I was looking at. Does that make any sense? It's like I can't zoom in if I have ANY object selected because it will jump me to the center of whatever area that is. And so then I have to either zoom back out, deselect the object, zoom in where I want to be, THEN select the object, or I have to scroll forever until I get to the area I want to be. SO annoying. Can anyone help with this?

 Can we get additional features to handle Preview Only Text?  • A Highlight Preview Only text feature similar to the Highlight Substituted Fonts Preference?  • A Outline Preview Only text button or preference?  • A preference to turn the feature off all together? Illustrator 2025 is now using embeded fonts instead of demanding they be substituted.  You can not add text or paste it into a differenct document however you can addjust the tracking and the scale. When you paste it into a new document it just defaults and goes missing. This can be a major problem if unoticed by an operator. This is a love / hate feature that I would love no matter what if it just had some additional features/options.  Thoughts?

ID files can preferentially read the current “Document fonts” directory to get the fonts they use as if they were already installed.I wonder if AI and PS have this feature?

If you drag to work with the preview enlarged, the work area preview will look blurry.The more you zoom in, the more severe the symptoms are.There wasn't until the last version of 2023, but it came up at some point.Due to the nature of the work, there are many cases where the work is small, so it is enlarged and modified.It's quite disruptive to the workflow. Hello,I hope this is the right place to post my question. This isnt a problem but wanted confirmation that it is a new(?) feature.I have png files in my illustrator document and exported a hi-res pdf for traditional print. Then I use Adobe Acrobat to check for anomalies etc with  Use Print Production > Output Preview . It will pick up any RGB images, spot colours etc and save my bacon. My last pdf didnt pick up several images (embedded png files) as RGB but saw them as CMYK. Is this a new feature in Illustrator (and I think Indesign too) where it will convert RGB images to CMYK if Im outputting a pdf for print?  I tried different pdf presets too and got the same result.Thanks for your time.

Hi guys, This is not a common issue, but i was wondering why some black and white JPG are much darker when imported to Illustrator that when opening it with Preview? The first one is with Preview and the second one imported within Illustrator. How come? Should i change settings?Thanks for your advice.Cheers,

No, this is not an issue with my monitor not being calibrated.  The colors inside of AI dull when I move the AI window from my MacBook pro to my external monitor. If I move an image opened in preview of the same exact colors from my MacBook to my external monitor, they look correct. In fact, everything looks the same on both monitors, except for AI. Therefore it seems like it is something in AI? Mac screen:External monitor: Another interesting detail here - When I move my AI window from my macs display over to the external display, at first the colors look correct on the external monitor, but when my cursor enters the AI window the colors flicker from correct to dull as I move my curosr around, making it un-useable.  When I change the AI window size, it goes to the dull color and stays there. The same is true for when I move the AI window from external to mac display, it looks super dull on the mac display, does the flicker dance with cursor movement, until I r

Even though I installed the latest Illustrator update this morning (v. 29.5.1), I am still having issues with attempting to export slices as PNG files. The program randomly defaults to a JPG suffix, even though I've selected the PNG format in the drop down on the right (screenshot attached). If I delete the .jpg suffix and replace it with .png, it ends up adding a duplicate .png (.png.png) to the end of the file name. From time to time, it will save MOST of the slices as PNG files, but one of the slice will randomly be saved in a JPG format, which I did not select. I know that I will be told to delete my preferences file (good luck finding that on my late 2023 MacBook!), but that is such a major pain to have to go back in and change all of my preferences back to ones that make sense to me. Sigh... I will if I have to, but so far nothing else has seemed to fix the problem, even creating a new Illustrator file to see if the glitch was in the file. Thoughts? Ideas?

I have 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-12900K 3.19 GHz and 64 GB Ram with 4 GB Nvidia graphics card.While working on Heavy files, usually 1 to 1.5 GB, at the time of saving it takes a lot of time. Normall,y i have to save the files first and then convert to PDF to save as a preview version of a 1 master artboard out of multiple artboards.Is there any other workflow to speed up this process, maybe with Adobe Bridge or some other plugin to do this in background ?

Hi All,  I work for a company who provides leavers hoodies for schools. I have been at the company for 8 months and been comfortable doing 25. I now have to create leavers designs for 26 - but I am finding this quite tricky.  The 6 itself doesn't want to become a text box when using area type - I have tried to make it into a compound path but it wont work because of the shape within the 6. All I want is an outline of a 6 INCLUDING the circle inbetween so that I can type into it. I used a method I found on youtube where you use the knife tool and cut through the shape (see attached image) and it works slightly but when I have adjusted the inset spacing it seperates the text due to this cut which isn't what I want. I feel like I am making this 10x more complicated then it needs to be.  Any help would be a god send. And if anyone has any tips on typing the names into the 26 whilst justifying it and seperating the letters perfectly without taking hours to

People, I have a problem:    Imagine you are planning your wedding and creating the visual briefs for all you suppliers with Illustrator on your iPad. And then one day when you want to send those briefs out, you cannot access Illustrator. And your files.   Like I sign in, it thinks about it and sends me back to the "Your trial is over- please get a subscription" page. I clicked "Purchse", I clicked "restore purchse", I turned the iPad off and on again. The only acknoledgement I get is a "You have purchased a subscription already".    How do I get out of this viscous circle, back into Illustrator?   Help

I don't even know how to describe it. a lot of errors in Illustrator. Sometimes the control z and control shift z are not working. The brush or pencil tool dots don't show what I should do. I have 700 GB left in c and 1 tera in d. I don't think it's a computer issue

I'm new to illustrator and am trying to export a png but illustrator keeps coming back with this error.The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error. [!now]What could be the cause? I have tried different solutions I have seen for other problems such as deleting hidden layers but nothing seems to be working.I am running illustrator CC on a windows 10 computer. I've been having this issue for a long time and it's something I've always either not notice or worked around, but it's become incredibly frustrating lately and I can't seem to find a solution to my problem.Here is my problem:I start a new document in CMYK.Default fill is ffffff (white), default stroke is 231f20 (grayish black)This gets applied to any shape I create. When I start using the text tool, the default is a fill of 231f20 and a stroke of ffffff.Is there any way I can change all default black colors to 000000? I have not yet been able to find a single solution that will solve this problem for new documents or shapes I create, meaning that I have to change the black color a million different times for every project to avoid using any 231f20.I believe this has been a problem for me with every version of illustrator, mac or pc, since CS6.Please let me know if you need any additional info.
