I have a JavaScript that takes a working file and manipulates the objects within the layers, then saves it out as a PDF.The file is structured with four layers; [Art, Marks, Bleed, and Panel]The script takes all the editable text items from the Art Layer and duplicates them onto a new layer called "Fonts."It also takes all the objects within the "Panel" Layer and duplicates them onto a new layer labeled "OCG-Preview"It then combines all the OCG-Preview items into one path item.I also have an item description layer that is added and the name updated by the user via prompt. For some reason when I execute the script from File->Scripts it works fine.However, when I assign it to an action using the "Insert Menu Item" and run it from the action it bugs out and produced unwanted affects. If I close illustrator and reopen to run the action it works the first time, yet, anytime afterwards it deletes all items on the Art layer, and it would seem like it's taking all the items from t

Hello.  Illustrator guides are now too "thin" - hardly visible. I switched to lines, which incidentally makes my detail work too complicated, and different colors.  Is there any way to "thicken" the guidelines?  I liked the old guidelines much better. Mac Studio, Illustrator 28.7.1Fun Note: I started with Illustrator #2 or 3

How does on reduce the scope of smart guides? All I want to do is extend a line on its path, as in "on" guide, but it constantly finds other objects at vast distances that are complete unwanted and redender the tool useless. My work around is to copy the line and place them end point to end point, merge the anchors, delete the new anchor and finally cut the line to the desired length. What a hack. As a side, I find Adobe help impossible to navigate and only come here out of hours of wondering, is there a better way?

So there was a new release Illustrator 24.1 the other day which I installed. Unfortunately, it looks like the Adobe engineers messed up and semi-broke the conversion routines from inches or whatever measurement is used internally to the metric units displayed to me as the user. What used to be displayed as nice whole numbers or up to a maximum of three decimals, is now never an even number and always displayed with four decimals. Just to take an example, a dimension clearly intended to be precisely 10 mm is now displayed as say 9.9998 mm or 10.0003 mm.  This is incredibly annoying for me and anyone else who usually works by numerically setting exact dimensions and coordinates. This also seem to affect other parts of the software like the PathFinder and join command. Objects where the coordinates should match now doesn't, generating several unnecessary anchor points or paths in the process. Please fix ASAP!

I have been making some shapes for masks, now, for some reason I can only create paths. I can no longer grab and resize my shapes, there are no handles on selection. Any rectangle or ellipse I make is now a path. It's driving me nuts.

I have an illustrator file & some of the places images are distorted, by which I mean that the height & width percentages are not the same. The one I'm currently looking at is 23.567% x 24.312% I cannot for the life of me find the boxes where I can enter one of the percentages to match the other.

Hello!Wondering if anyone could help me out or has had a similar issue - I have saved this page of artwork numerous times but when I reopened it today all of the lines have new random harsh anchor points. There's a lot of artwork on this file and it has happened to every shape. I dont want to just use the smooth tool as that won't take it back to what it originally was, and would take forever. Please see screenshot for what I'm dealing with.Thanks in advance!!

However, Persian has its own unique characteristics that require more accurate support, and the existing issues create challenges in typography, text layout, and text display.Therefore, we expect Adobe to develop a separate Persian language engine for Illustrator. This step could solve the current problems and improve the experience for Persian-speaking users. Creating such an engine would not only enhance the quality of Persian design work but also, considering the increasing usage of Illustrator in Persian-speaking countries, it would facilitate the use of this software for

I think it would be super helpful if illustrator could have a set of tempalte files including already defined attributes like Mock up templates, Print production templates that could be loaded at the start of Illustrator. So that I wouldnt have to go find the file and open it up but to have a true Basic Template that is designed and saved for me so that my artist can load projects into them as they design and save them outputting in specific ways. For example it would be cool to say have a Tshirt Mock up template, that when im done Designing it spits out an approval sheet, The mock up sheet, The DTF PNG and or Screen Seperations all in one. Is it possible to do this with Illustrator now? If not it would be really helpful for us production artist to add some automation to the Adobe Illustrator app. 

Attempting to run any action from applescript or javascript is always resulting in Illustrator 2021 or 2022 immediately crashing for me.I've tried on multiple computers, and running it on a fresh install of AI 2022 with no settings changed.It doesn't matter which Action Set is used, I've tried the included "Default Actions." The identical scripts work fine from AI CC2020 back to at least AI CS6.For example, I can copy and paste this stright from Adobe's ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR CC SCRIPTING REFERENCE: APPLESCRIPT: tell application "Adobe Illustrator"do script "Opacity 60 (selection)" from "Default Actions" without dialogsend tell Make a new Illustrator document and run it, and AI instantly freezes and stays frozen indefinitely. I am composing a map using illustrator. I have pre-exisiting base layers that are not aliginged directly north. I have several new layers I want to add that contain some of the same content just updated for changes that have been made since the last time this area was mapped. These layers are oriented with north straight up. They are also not at the same scale as the origianl. I don't have actual numbers that I can use to scale by x amount or rotate by x degrees. rather than attempt to rotate and scale everything manually and try to get it to match is there a way to have illustrator rotate the entire layer or layers and scale to match features that are in the size and orientation that I want them?  For example if I have a certain road running through all the layers can I get illustrator to rotate and scale all the layers to align with the size and orientation of one of theses roads?

Offset Path will not come up for me in Illustrator 2024. The option is not greyed out but the dialog box will not appear when I select Offset Path. Works fine when I open the same file in 2023 version. Am I missing something?

Hi all,I am struggling with cutting an object from illustrator (a circle with light globes around it emitting light in the form of a gradient) and posting it into another illustrator file.When I cut/copy the object and paste it into the new illustrator file with existing artwork, the gradient of the pasted item is altered. It shows as much lighter, I have included below for you to see.If anyone could help provide some advice on how to successfully cut a vector object with multiple gradients from one illustrator file to another it would be greatly appreciated.Thank you

I have many icons with wrong colours. Now I want to color them with the batch processing of Illustrator.How can I do this?

Can anyone help? I was just playing around, and made a circle, and wanted to generate a vector inside this circle. Usually, it asks me right away, want to make a vector but now it is greyed out, even from the File menu. Any help? thanks!

Im having an issue here in illustrator.I think i must have once pressed the wrong button, because now i dont have the regular transform options on a shape. When i click on a shape, instead of having the regular boxes in each of the 4 corners, which allow you to rotate, scale etc, i just have a very small blue square at each corner.In addition i cant just click any where on the shape and move it, i have to click right on the outer path line of the shape.Can anyone help with this?

It already happened to me twice, I was working on a file, at some point my macbook dies because I forgot to charge it, as i turn on my laptop again it says my laptop had some issue it had to restart. Illustrator automatically pops up, says it already recover the file(s) that i was working on. But instead it only show a blank file named print.Luckily, I already saved the files multiple times earlier, but still it is kinda annoying.I admit my macbook is kind of full on storage but as this happen I already freed some. How do I prevent this to happen again in the future?

Hello, why have you altered the function crop an RGB image, with an icc-profil, to do this? This is, in my eyes, totally wrong.The embedded version of the image is in CMYK without icc-profil, when saved as a PDF. The result of this conversion to CMYK is a fault, and the result when offset printing the PDF is going to be wrong in colour.In version 28.7.6 is cropping an images just fine and not embedded. Mac Studio, M1 Max, Sequoia 15.4.1. (Text in the screenshot;  "When a linked file is cropped, a copy of the original is embedded. The original file in the linked location is not affected.") 

Hi, I have an issue with vector generation by Firefly. I have generated many vectors during this day but during the afternoon a bug occured. When i try to generate new content it says me that my adobe app is not authentic... (file in french uploaded) Have you ever heard of this bug ?

I have the latest Illustator and Photoshop version and in both of them the spacebar ain't working as quick hand tool on Mac.

Hi- I'm running into an issue where if I have multiple artboards in a file, save my file as an SVG, and close it, upon reopening the file all but one of the artboards disappear. The artwork is still there, and placed as if the artboards were still there, but the actual artboards have disappeared.  note that if I am not choosing "save to artboard" on the save screen. This only applies to those files that I save with multiple artboards. When I chose "save to artboard" each artboard separates into a separate file and there is no issue there. This only occurs when I have multiple artboards in an svg file.
