Questions

I created a file in AI CC, which I installed recently.  Saved periodically for a couple of days.  Now when I open that file, the content visiible in AI is what I saved from the early in the creation process.  What's weird is if I look at the file using preview - the thumbnail that shows which file to open - I can see all the recent work.  I can also see the 6 artboards with the objects & text  I expect when I preview with Mac Finder, or in Acrobat.  But when I open the file in AI, only 3 artboards have objects and they are not the current work.I have tried:Checking that all layers and sublayers are visibleSaving the stunted open file to a new name, when I open that same thing not newest version. But then the preview matches only 3 artboards.File, PlaceClosing AI and restarting itShutting down my Mac an restarting itOpening the file in Photoshop - this DOES show me all 6 "pages" and I can open, but of course they are converted to bitmap not editable vec

Hi everyone. I am trying to prepare a design. I add a grain effect to the rectangle in the background of my design. Then when I try to export it as PDF, I get a terrible result. I took a screenshot from both Illustrator and the PDF file to make sure the problem was in my eyes. But as you can see in the attachment, my design in the PDF file looks awful. I've looked at solved threads and videos related to this.I tried Adding All Profiles when exporting, I tried selecting High Quality from the top. It exported the PDF image horribly every time, even though I tried it many times in different variations. How can I fix this problem? Can you please help with this problem?

Hi, I'm having an issue where text in Illustrator appears skewed/angled, even though all angles are set to 0°. I've tried resetting preferences, reinstalling, and checking transformations, but nothing works. Has anyone else experienced this? Any fixes? Thanks!

Hi all, I have an Illustrator file, which kind of roiginated from an accident. Howeve it look pretty cool and I want to export it as png.Problem: all the paths have 0 stroke so basically nothing is getting exported.When setting the stroke to anything >0, a lot of the structure disappears (see 2nd screenshot) What I see and what i want to export  What comes out when raising the stroke size:  I also attached a sample of the file: https://hidrive.ionos.com/lnk/EQWIkwXbZ TIA for any help 🙂

I download vector images from Adobe stock photos they have the .ai extension and up until recently I was able to select the file and hit the space bar to see what the image is.  Now I have no previews to look at. And this has been asked in other streams but this situation is different because I don't want to open every illustrator file to find out what it is or to save as pdf compatible.  This is very time consuming. These are stock images from Adobe stock.  I also don't want to have to open Bridge to see what the images are. I want it to be a quick simple thing like it has been forever. Any suggestions? I found the instructions to change the Illustrator.qlgenerator file and did so but it's not solving the situation.  

Adobe Illustrator is notifying me that I'm violating the guidelines with my Generative AI prompt. I just don't see how "bag of potatoes, ripped open" is violating anything. It likely has something to do with the "ripped open" part but then again, the prompt "ripped open bag of potatoes" would do just fine. Except that it does not generate the desired results for now but I guess I'll keep trying. Pretty sure I can find a workaround using different prompts and style references, but does anyone else too experience the violation messages for completely harmless prompts?

Meu illustrator começou a fechar janelas de apoio sozinho, primeiramente ocorreu ontem, qual fui exportar um arquivo pelo atalho Ctrl + Shift + Alt + S, a janela para configurar a exportação abre e fecha rapidamente, resolvi quando deletei todos os aplicativos da adobe incluindo o creative cloud e os reinstalei, o problema não ocorreu por duas inicializações do sistema, com uma versão anterior do illustrator, a v29.0, mas na terceira inicialização do sistema o problema voltou a ocorrer, fiz a atualização para a versão mais recente, sem sucesso, o problema persiste.

Odd - I'd never heard of it before, but it looks great. Thing is, the website says it only goes up to Illustrator 2015. Anybody using it successfully on CC2017? I'd love to give it a try, but thought I'd ask first. Thanks!

I have created a simple logo in illustrator cc. The background is black and text is white. When exported the logo to jpg, tiff, pdf, etc the black is dull looking like gray. The Document Color Mode is set for CYMK.  In "Preferences" I changed the "Appearance of Black" Printing /Exporting to "Output All Blacks Accurately" but that did not help. Does anyone have a suggestion to resolve this issue?

I'm familiar with placing multiple pages from a pdf into an Illustrator document, using the Place dialog/Import Options window, however when I tried to do it today I only got the option to select a single page at a time. From memory, I was expecting a checkbox below that, to select a range of or all pages (as described at https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/importing-pdf-files.html). Is this something that has changed/moved in the latest update, or are there limitations that mean the option may not be available for all PDF files?

I am running Illustrator version 27,5  on Imac late 2013. I am trying to migrate to Illustrator 27.61 on Mac Studio. I need to transfer my settings - keyboard shortcuts, actions, workspace. Can you point me to a tutorial how to do it? I tried moving my .aia and .kys files into Library/Preferences/Adobe 27 Settings, but it doesn't work.Is there a way to sync through Creative cloud?  

I have been working on some files and saving them as .ai files. I have not been saving with "Create PDF Compatible File" checked because I had read somewhere on the forum that it was not necessary. Is this true?The main reason for my question, 2-3 times when opening the files up I get the error stating can partially read the file. When I click Open I have a 1 layer file with text stating that I did not save as a PDF Compatible File. I will then close and not save changes. When I again open the file, it will open just fine with all 66 layers of text and images. 1 file is 36.5 MB and the other is 37.9 MB. I have worked with files like this before and know that it will take a little longer to open files with the small amount of RAM. Any help would be greatly appreciated. iMac 21.5 Late 2013, 8MB RAM, OS Catalina 10.15.7, Illustrator 2021 ver. 25.4.8, files are saved on computer

I was wondering if it is possible to create a script that renames the artboards based on an excel, or text file. Instead of having to double-click and type out each name.  I hope this makes sense. 

SVG Issues (Jan 17 2025)Adobe Illustrator v28.7.1 created valid SVGs. v29.2.1 creates invalid SVGs. It looks like the xmlns:xlink section of the <SVG version> element is duplicated for v29.2.1, but okay for v28.7.1. En el panel de preferencias tengo marcada la opción "Escalar trazos y efectos" para que Illustrator lo tenga predeterminado, pero más de una vez encuentro que esa opción no está marcada y tengo que volver a hacerlo (desde el doble click en la herramienta Escalar). Es bastante inconveniente porque suelo notar que la opción no está marcada cuando ya realicé varias tareas de escalado, lo que me obliga a cambiar en forma manual trazos y efectos que no se ajustaron automáticamente.¿Es un bug del programa o hay alguna manera de que no siga sucediendo?

Hello, I am having some issues with my illustrator. When I create a new file the information (size...) doesn't appear like usually. This has been like this for 2 weeks now, and I already updated it. I hope someone can help me.Thank you 

I'm still on CS3 and figured out how to get printing separations back, but still printing PDF is missing.I tried "Repair Acrobat Installation".I'm on Yosemite.Please provide a work around,thanks!

Hi, for some time now in the new versions of Illustrator when I move the anchor points with the white arrow they move jerkily and it is very annoying when I want to position them in precise points for precision work.Does anyone know if this is just my problem and if there is a way to fix this problem?

Bonjour,J'ai énormément de calques à enregistrer en PDF et il faudrait à chaque fois garder le tout premier calque qui est une sorte de Background.Je voulais savoir s'il existait un script ou Action qui enregistrerait sous PDF le calque S01 puis le S02 puis le S03 etc tout en gardant visible le calque commun (sur la photo c'est le "TEMPL. tout en bas)?J'ai 76 calques à passer en PDF.Merci à vous !

Hello Everyone! I am new to AI and I was trying to create a design with the inflated metallic effect but when I select my object and inflate it, I don't see the metallic slider at all, in fact there's no other option apart from selecting the material type in the materials section. So if someone could help me out with it please I'd really appreciate it! 

Hi!Do you know how to achieve this effect in a vector drawing? It reminds me of 'Image Trace' results, but I need to create the illustration from scratch and match that exact line style. Any ideas?
