There will be times when I have the painbrush tool active, and I draw next to a selected drawn path/shape, it will - by accident - edit that one according to how I draw. I'd like to do that on purpose now. Does anyone know how? Thank you in advance!

How do I make an effect of a car speeding In Illustrator?

I'm on a Macbook Pro with the M3 Pro chip. I tried unplugging my mouse and this issue still occurs. I tried unchecking GPU performance under preferences and that still didn't work. Any suggestions?

Is there any way (except by Scissors tool and then deleting the unwanted part of the original line) how to move the ending anchor point of a curved line along the original curved path of the line to trim (shorten) the line? I want to keep the original path curvature. The purpose of it is to easily adjust the space for the text on the arrow path in case I need to add (or change) text on its path the text. Ideally, it would be nice to be able to change the curvature of the arrow together with the curvature of the text, but I do not know if this is possible. Thank you for your answer.

Estimados:     Tengo problemas con la última actualización de Ilustrator. Al crear una caja de texto no la reconoce como tal, si no como un objeto y que ademas no permite cambiar su tamaño con la herramienta de selección como usualmente lo haría. Lo mismo ocurre al crear un elemento geométrico, no puedo usar la herramienta de selección  para ajustar su tamaño, girarlo o mover, pues no me da las opciones de manera directa. Intente instalando la versión anterior pero mantiene el mismo error.Por favor ¿alguien puede tener la solución?Estas son las características de mi equipo:

as the title, is this a bug?ver 29.2.1

I cannot "Create Swatch Info," as it is greyed out, along with "Create Gradient," in the swatch panel. Why? I have tried making a new document and just using the default swatches... Nothing. I am on a new M4 mac mini running the latest Illustrator, 2025. Thanks!

I am trying to figure out the error 22 fix but although I have tried to fix it in disk utility I still need some help. Anyone have answers?

I'm working on a map where 33 countries are 33 sublayers within a "countries" layer. The problem is that when I copy and paste my "countries" layer from one Illustrator map file into another map file, the 33 sublayer country names are gone and replaced by hundreds of of sub layers called "path". How can I prevent this from happening? I want my country sublayers to show up in the illsutrator file I'm copying to and not be replaced by hundreds of "path" sub layers.

Hello all,Ok - we all know what this questions is about - why is it than when I save an Illustrator file as a reduced size PDF, thin white lines block around text content, and sometimes in images. For example:Zooming in / out, moving, the line stays the same thickness, and comes in and out. In my 10 years working in Illustrator / Acrobat, I have struggled with this problem. Yes, I know they are artifacts; yes, I know turning off "Smooth Line" or whatever will sometimes fix it ON MY MACHINE; yes, I understand that this often has to do with flattening transparency (which is unfortunately critical to reducing file size to an acceptable level for e-mail / web sharing).  Can someone, preferably an Adobe employee, explain once and for all either: A) A reliable way to avoid this when exporting AI to a small, easily shareable, digital PDF.ORB) Tell us all when this will be fixed.I'm tired of people saying: "Well, it won't show up in print" - this is for a digital file!I find it unbelievab

Printers are not printing after the last update of illustrator 29.2.1.I click "print", a progress bar appears and the program freezes.This happens with any printer. Rolled back to version 29.1 - the problem disappeared. I decided to update the illustrator, again to version 29.2.1 - the same problem.Windows 10. Please tell me how to solve this problem.

Hello everyone, I have a question about Adobe Illustrator: I would like newly created objects to automatically have the same colour and transparency settings as a previously created object. Although I know that you can transfer colour and transparency with the eyedropper/pipette, I would like new shapes to adopt the same settings directly - without any additional click or work step. In my case, for example, colours and gradients are applied to new objects, but unfortunately the transparency settings are not.Is there a way to configure Illustrator so that the transparency of the previous object is also adopted when creating new objects? Thank you very much for your help!

Hi all, could you please help me to identify the type of this diagram? it looks like a 3d dementions type, but i am not sure what catagory it is called. i have been assigned to make this type of illustrations recently,  and i have to do some reseach to study it first, so please help.Thank you in advance. 

When using the Illustrator image crop tool for background images, when I would initially hit the "Crop Image" button, the crop area would be exactly the the artboard size and area. Now, it chooses a random shape, which I then have to drag out to the size and area of the artboard.Why this change, and how can I adjust the settings to be able to crop to artboard size by default?

Help! Everything is blurry and pixelated. I'm trying to work on a menu, and the file is a relatively normal size. While scrolling, zooming in and out, my workspace keeps blurring in certain sections and some elements disappear. I have to zoom in and out until I find a sweet spot where it reloads and sharpens. The file works and it itsn't necessarily slow, it's just the loading of everything.  My Illustrator is updated, I've restarted my Macbook Pro multiple times. This problems persists! What can I do?

In my design, which is intended to replicate this exactly, "Mixer" is in front of the other text. I then tried to just add a strong stroke in the light pink color. While that theoretically works, it begins eating into the text's fill too much. By the time the stroke matches its size, there's no more dark red left and you can no longer read the word.

What is the different between the Merge & Unite? because both created group in layer panel like GROUP command.   

I use the unite button within pathfinder to merge the two sections of a truck outline weekly in my line of work; This is the first time I have had this issue with getting two sections to merge while I have them overlapping and have done my best to troubleshoot and search this community for fixes. I understand this issue may be common but my example is niche; Tried to make compound paths, expand, look for overlapping paths but am unable to get them to merge. Hi everyone!If anyone has any insight or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.My current "fix" was dowloading and using an older version of Adobe Illustrator, but sa small error still arose with that.There was a change of the SVG code with no option to choose the former SVG code (which we need for our eProduct). Also other issues appeared when saving AI to SVG. I'm using Acrobat version 24.004.20272 and Illustrator 2021 version 25.4.8. I have a PDF file of a logo and when opened in Acrobat it is the logo on an 8.5 x 11 page. In Acrobat, I crop the file to just the logo 3.41 x 2.01 and save the file. When in Illustrator I place the PDF file, it still shows logo inside of an 8.5 x 11 border. I have tried ungrouping, release mask and expand and nothing changes. I'm not sure what else I can do except open the file in Photoshop and save it as a PDF from there. Any idea what would be causing this to happen? The placed file shows no security settings in Acrobat. Any help would be greatly appreciated. John

So I got a new laptop, and I simply want to have the same settings on the new machine. After 5 minutes of app searching, and 5 minutes of Google searching, then 10 minutes of waiting for a chat representative, he tells me I need to go to my library folder and move a pref file from one location to another? Really? Oh yeah, and there WAS NO complimentary folder to drop it into on the new computer. So I gave up. I'll just rebuild the new copy with the settings I like. Oh I forgot to mention IT'S ALMOST THE YEAR 2020.  Adobe, like are you kidding? CC is NOT CHEAP. How about a nifty "Sync settings" button or something? See? I just came up with that! Oh, and trying to do it on Photoshop is a WHOLE different thing using some arcane Windows 95 looking dialog box to move settings from one place to another - oh yeah, that didn't work for me either.  Jokes aside, you guys should be a bit ashamed of yourselves.
