Sorry, I'm sure this is the stupidest question ever.  I think I've accidentally hit a keyboard shortcut, my Selection Tool is acting just like the Direct Selection Tool. I can't get it to select whole objects, in fact it doesn't really select anything. When the cursor comes near a line, it's accompanied by a rectangle with 8 dots on the perimeter and one dot in the centre. Or sometimes it has a small black rectangular dot next to the cursor.  I don't think I'm in isolation mode Please help, I can't use illustrator at all Help!

I'm trying to create a line art image. All shapes in the drawing to be transparent with a solid stroke. I would like foreground objects to mask any paths behind them that overlap. So in effect the foreground object clips all detail beneath it, but without any fill. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks

Having error with illustrator. Copy&Paste became delayed, the All Swatch, Brushes and Symbols Tabs are mysteriously filled with plugin things that came from a file I downloaded in Freepik. I tried fix it with this given link but cannot be fixed, This 1st message pop up whenever I open file that has been infected. While the 2nd message pop whenever I'm trying to do my work in the [infected] file. : https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/copy-paste-artwork-slow-or.html. I tried re-save my files into different names and in PDF format. Error bums Cannot be fixed. I tried update and revert to older version, cannot be fixed. I reinstall seems fine, but when I open some of my files again, the error returns. Seems like a virus that even infected my files from the original file from Freepik download. The file I was working on was forced shutdown and the edits from yesterday day was gone. After it reopens, there was no recovery file, no version history from the day. I tried find it in core sync and data recovery in window tab as recommeded by the community and nothing works. My Illustrator desktop app normally would autosave all my edits, but not this time (and the latest version history was "last 16 days"). Can anyone help me, I was working really hard on that. Thank you.

How can I make a linear gradient that has more than one dimension? I want a rectangle that transitions from blue to purple from left to right, and it also transitions from light to dark from top to bottom.

Using the hotkey for Eyedropper tool with the Text tool active and text selected replaces the text with “i”. Is there any trick to invoke the Eyedropper tool with a hotkey so that the selected text remains selected?   

My team converts a number of vector artwork into Bitmapped .tiffs with transparent backgrounds. Currently our process involved copy and pasting each individual file into photoshop to make the conversion. This seems like something that could easily be handled by the asset export window, and would save my team quite a bit of time. Any plans to add this file type or ideas for a quick work-around? 

Hi, Thanks you for any help provided.  I recently updated to masOS Sequoia 15.1 and since then when I try to downlaid images from adobe stock (vector images for illustrator) the files download with ai.download extension and are not able to be opened by illustrator.  I am using Adobe Illustrator 2025.  Is there something I am missing or something I need to do.  I have not had this problem before the update.

When trying to enter a new swatch color in Illustrator (blue hex #5aaec7) I keep getting a different blue hex color (hex #58adc7). When I try it in Photoshop it works fine. Thoughts?

Prezados, Há alguns dias não tenho conseguido trabalhar com o Illustrator por causa desse problema que aparece no video em anexo. Resumidamente, a janela "layer" não para de abrir e fechar e não consigo desabilitar a jenela. Aguardo uma solução.

Olá! Muitas vezes, ao tentar salvar um arquivo no Illustrator, a janela de  salvar se abre e aí fecha no mesmo instante, não dando tempo de fazer nada. Reinicio programa, mas acontece o mesmo. Alguém sabe o que pode ser? 

Is there any trick to select Group Selection Tool using the same hotkey as for Direct Selection Tool? 

I am trying to collect for output, but it is not gathering the photos used in the file to the folder. I made sure the images are not embedded, and I have all the checkboxes selected to gather the links. The fonts are being collected fine and it is making a package report doc. Happy to send screenshots of the steps I'm taking, if that better explains the isssues I am having. Thank for any help you can provide.

I have a basic design on a spread in InDesign (18.1), and I wanted to take it to Illustrator (27.5) to properly complete it. I created a document in Illustrator with the matching dimensions to the one in InDesign. I then tried to manually recreate the object (using the rectangle tool, I matched the height/width), I then matched the angle of the object (the height/width values automatically change), and also matched the X, Y coordinates. However, the object was not in the same place as it is in InDesign. I tried using ChatGPT to help me out, but all I got out of it is to set the ruler to global rulers, click Shift+O and set the artboard coordinates to 0, and then double click the small square in the top-left corner. However, if I double-click on the square, the coordinates of the artboard are no longer zero, and if I set them to zero, the ruler values of the artboard aren't at zero.I do not undersand what is happening and how to overcome it. The Spacebar and Z key for the Hand tool and zoom are not working. I am on Windows 10 and i checked out a bunch of threads on why this bug might be happening. Some say it's because of chrome or some other app stopping the keystroke, but none of these suggestions worked I am on latest Illustrator CC version. Thanks in Advance !

I've drawn a shape I want to reuse for tabs and titlebars: a rectangle with the upper corners rounded and the lower corners square.I duplicate this shape and want to reduce the width: so I select the shape, open the Transform dialogue, set the anchor point, make sure "Scale corners" is not selected, make sure "Constrain height and width" is not selected, and enter the required width at W.Result? the "[do not]Scale corners" setting is ignored, and corner radius is reduced.The only way I've found to resize without changing the corner radius is direct select, Transform, resize by hand, wait for Transform dialogue to display new width, rinse and repeat until I get the width I want.Is there really no easier way?Illustrator CC 19.2.19, in case I'm missing something.

 

Hi we have updated Illustrator on our MAC OS Monterey, and we discore a lot of bugs in this version   concerning the appeareance : what is shown in appearance window doesn't correspond to what is visible on the drawing   concerning the eyedropper : it doesn't work, we have to "ungroup" all objects to have it working well... even object that were not "grouped".   Very strange. Does someone experiment this also? Thanks to adobe to correct this soon!  

Can someone explain to me the function of the Suffix checkbox when you use Export As from Illustrator (on Windows 10)? It has no impact on file names whether or not you check it because I can't see any way to actually enter a suffix unless you select Export for Screens instead of Export As. Or am I missing somewhere else you can enter a suffix before then choosing Export As? Furthermore, can Adobe please:1) Add a feature where you can reset your artboard names automatically? I often end up with, for example, "Artboard 16 copy 8" etc etc at the end of my process, and I'd like to be able to reset them all to "Artboard 1" to "Artboard 18" (or however many artboards there are) without having to do so manually, just based on the order they're in. 2) Add another feature on Export As where you can choose whether or not Illustrator uses your artboard names at the end (which is what I would have assumed the Suffix checkbox did, but it doesn't). Good day to everyone. Recently encountered a problem with my properties panel in Illustrator. It was all good for several months after i first installed it, but when I opened Illustrator one day it turned out to be like this. I've tried reopening the tab, resetting, deleting the preferences settings in Adobe folder, even completly deleting all my adobe apps from my PC, clearing all possible files remaining and downloading once again, yet still nothing has changed. The same problem was in the last version of illustrator 2024, updated to 2025 and still the same. Has anyone had the same problem and are there any solutions to returning the default look.Much appreciated  

I'm using adobe illustrator on my iPad for a school assignment and when I tried to save it and upload it to a google drive, it shows as a pdf. Is there any way to fix it?

Hi,I only have a Samsung Z-Fold 6, and hope to use Ai Web soon -please allow beta testing on mobile Chrome rather than requiring a desktop! If I had a desktop, I'd just download the Ai desktop app (o;   If it's buggy, that's fine -it's a beta.  Alternatively, please develop an Android Ai app, but I suspect that that is more difficult than simply turning off the browser-verification.  thanks for all you do for us creatives!SRVC
