Hi all! I'm going crazy here, my Illustrator keeps on glitching, tools not working and I don't know how to solve. I already quit the app so many times, close all other programs while using it, restart the mac, uninstalled and downoalded the program but the same keeps happening. The cloud storage is 1% full so i really have no idea of what can be happening.

I am the IT guy posting on Kims behalf - we are using 3 windows PC's that was built for 3 seperate graphic designers. All of the PCs are the same. All 3 of the PCs have the same exact issue. No other adobe app in the entire suite (they use a TON of adobe programs) has this issue. I have performed all of the expected troubleshooting that Adobe gives - plus another 10 lbs from what the internet tells me. Nothing has budged it. The only common factor between these 3 people other than that their PCs are the same, is that they are all not using an admin account within our domain. They are just standard user accounts. So, since they are user accounts, now we know they dont have FULL ACCESS to the hard drive/SSD/OS Drive. Nor any drive. For safety reasons, and for preventative issue reasons as well. Not that this stands in the way of anything, because every other Adobe app opens up. I don't mean to make that seem serious either - they literally are 1 step under full access. They just don't ha

Hi Guys,  I have downloaded a vector file to edit however, it is super slow to make changes in AI then when i deselect the vector after making the edits it comes up with this (image attached) how do i fix this issue? i have optimised the computer, reset the modem, tried to download and open the file in AI to disconnect it from the internet. not sure where im going wrong

Desde hace algunos días, al guardar los cambios que voy haciendo en el archivo que estoy trabajando (Illustrator CC), me aparece la alerta:"Este archivo se modificado fuera de Illustrator. ¿Desea continuar?"No he configurado ningún respaldo, ni la carpeta está sincronizada con algún servicio en la nube (Creative Cloud, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.).¿Alguien tiene idea de por qué sale esta alerta, y como puedo evitar que continúe apareciendo?Gracias!

I know I have asked this before, but I don't know where the original post went. I would like a color that, when placed on an object over the top of any other object in that layer, will make all other items or objects below it transparent, creating a knockout effect. It’s essentially a knockout group or knockout color, but it's actually just a color swatch that forcibly knocks out and makes transparent any object or item underneath it in a layer. The reason I’m asking is that when I flatten and expand appearances, it removes my knockout, and then it's forgotten because it either matches a similar color or gets skipped entirely due to being an invisible layer. It just removes it during the expand process. Either we need to fix the expand so that it recognizes a knockout and properly removes it from the items, or we need to have it as a custom color so that when I expand, the color is revealed, allowing me to knock out the elements before I finish expanding. I imported an image from photoshop and did an image trace on it to work with it in Illustrator.  I combined all the results in a group and was messing around with different effects.  Eventually, I wound up in the appearance attributes panel playing around with SVG Filters.  I had the preview box ticked so I could see the effect swapping various effects and filters had but the selection lines outlining each of the different components of the group were so tightly packed, you can't see the underlying image.  Does anyone know of a way to hide the selection lines?  It's not the end of the world but does defeat the purpose of the preview option and it's just a little easier to flip between different effects on the attributes panel than the dropdown menu and then selecting the effect and then undoing it.   Thanks!

Hello.I wonder if an array tool for Illustrator could be implemented the way it works in the CAD program Rhino 7. I am switching back and forth between both programs to create the outcome I was looking for.Most importantly, the array along spline would be so helpful. It works similar to the Type on the Path tool - just with shapes instead of type. Yes, one could create a brush and let it follow the path, but with the Rhino tool one could specify where midpoint/endpoint is, how many instances, orientaion etc. One could add an offset from the path too. It would be a nice addition to the Object -> Repeat -> radial/grid/mirror tools.

Hi there, I'm a pattern designer (in the wallpaper industry) and when I have a pattern swatch in Illustrator, I'd like to apply it to a blank wall in a photograph to create a realistic mockup that shows it at the proper true scale. This easily shows potential buyers what the pattern swatch sample would look like on the wall, if they were to buy it. How can I make this happen and have it appear true to size? Are there AI generators for wallpaper/pattern illustrations? I know some people use AI to create a pattern itself, but whether it's created manually in Illustrator - or by AI, I'm curious about showing it in mockup format. Thanks for any help!

Is there a way to permanantly save the center of an object in Illustrator? Right now I can select an object, click the rotation tool, Alt-Click to move the center point to make the dialogue box appear, press OK, and the object rotates around the point I've set as expected (this also works without Alt-Click but a lot of troubleshoot threads point to its significance). However when I deselect the object and do other stuff in my document then I click back to the object I set a custom center for and use the rotate tool the object center resets back to default center. If this isn't a current feature it would be super handy to have!

Hello. Does anyone know if there's a way to get/return a text frame's angle of rotation? I've searched through the CS4 AppleScript documentation and the closest I found was a text frame's "matrix" property which seems to be used to rotate an object but not return an object's current angle of rotation. (There is a character rotation property but this seems to return the rotation of each character in the text frame, not the text frame as a whole.) Ben

I mainly use Illustrator for layouts, so it is so incredibily frustrating to not be able to figure out how to make this path (forgive me if the term is wrong), from overlapping circles and lines (how I would do it with pencil and paper). I want the exact curvature I need for this repeating radial pattern. In the image I'm posting, I am showing 2 of the shapes that I would be using in a radial repeat.

I need some information. I have an SVG code. Is it possible to paste the SVG code directly in illustrator get the artwork from the code.SVG code (from other source) > Copy > Open Illustrator Document > Paste the code > Get the artwork. I dont want to save SVG each time and import it in illustrator.I hope it make sense. 

Been searching for any topic remotely similar to my situation with Find/Replace Font menu, which has been unusable to me because of the problem.I use relatively few fonts so I have been working around the issue for a while. Now that I have completely updated to a new MacBook Pro (Nov 2023) running latest OS (and starting from a clean slate instead of porting over from my previous system) it is time to solve this situation! Has anyone seen their Find/Replace Font menu look like this screen shot: Sometimes I get really strange bitmapped noise in the menu, sometimes I get blank spaces in the menu (like the upper section in this image) and sometimes I get jumbled mess of characters (like the lower section of this image). In any situation, this tool is unusable and I cannot figure out what is screwed up. Any suggestions?

How can I improve the performance of Adobe Illustrator when working with large files?

Hi everyone, new here. I have wondered for a couple of years how to make that effect in Illustrator. It looks like little pieces of different colors. DOes any one an idea how to achieve something like that? 

hello,I use a version before CC so perhaps this has been corrected, but: when I create some shapes that are just fillings (like circles or painted fillings) and save as PDF (not matter which), and open this PDF in some other vector software (Affinity Designer, Inkscape) this object is then an open path because the start/end node is not one single node anymore but TWO :). Is this a known issue and does it matter for printing?Also the other way around by the way: if I create such a shape  in Designer or also in CorelDraw and open it in Illustrator, then Illustrator says the path is open and finds two anchors instead of one.First I thought this is because of my old version of Illustrator, but it's also the case from some newer software to each other.

I am pretty sure that this cannot be done but should be doable. Indesign somehow figured it out that people want to save pages separately (because it is obvious).I have 16 artboards and I need SVG, PNG and PDF with proper file names. Cannot do that. It can only be done through save for screens by losing CMYK data :SFurthermore I need PDFs to be scaled proper print size. Acrobat preflight custom fixup. Again cannot be used on folder or multiple files at once. Droplet thing does not work on custom fixups.I am so lucky that I have 16 files and not 160.

I Personally love using my adobe software's, but there are occasionally tools I wish it had or features the software doesn't have... I'd love to know... do they take addition suggestions? one example is the burner and dodge tool. I know they have this tool in photoshop, But I think it would be a great addition to AI, and could help create Better rendered Graphics and images, and would be super helpful when blending and shading. I'd love to know.

Hallo liebe Community, ich nutze Illustrator seit vielen Jahren und stehe plötzlich vor einem Problem, was ich noch nie hatte.Objekte, die ich bereits erstellt habe lassen sich nicht mehr mit der Maus verschieben. Neue Objekte, die ich aufziehe (z.B.) ein Rechteck kann ich dieses nur noch verschieben, wenn ich genau den Mittelpunkt anfasse.Das Problem bei den alten Objekten (Silhouetten) ist, dass sie keinen Mittelpunkt mehr zum anfassen haben.Ich habe das Programm bereits neu intalliert. Auf einem anderen Rechner funktionieren die Dateien einwandfrei.Transformieren, drehen, mit den Pfeiltasten verschieben ist alles kein Problem.Kann mir da irgendwer weiter helfen? Ich verzweifel da langsam...gibt es vielleicht irgendwo einen Haken der sich eventuell falsch gesetzt hat?

Is there a way to add my own images (ie. mugs, hats, t-shirts, etc.) to place mockups onto other than what's currently in the library of images?

So, I am working on a document created by someone else. I've selected a line and changed the colour to a spot colour in the swatches. But I can see that although it has changed the colour it's only a tint of that colour.I've selected the 'colour' window and have moved the slider to change the tint, but I still can't get it to 100%. I have tried changing the line to different colours, it does change but the amount of tint stays the same.In Indesign, which I usually use, if you click on an object it will tell you what percentage of the colour it is, so that you can change it, but I can't see anything like that in Illustrator. Although the tint slider does appear on the 'colour' window, it doesn't say what tint it currently is, or even indicate that it is a tint, except that it obviously is because it's lighter.I've looked to see if it has a style applied to it, but it doesn't seem to.I'm sure I've had this problem before and solved it, but I can't for the life of me work it out.I would b
