Hey all, wondering how to better use the eye dropper tool in InDesign for color selection. In Illustrator/Photoshop you can just hover over the colors and make as many color selections as you want until you find the exact color you're looking for. However, it seems that in InDesign, you can only eye-drop one color before the tool freezes. I have to click off my object and then re-click it to activate the eye dropper to make a second selection. It adds so many clicks and is frustrating when trying to find exact colors. Am I missing something? Thanks!

Fellow Adobe users and hopefully developers,I've already asked the Apple community about how to remove all the additional foreign fonts on our Adobe software but it seems I'm caught in a in-between state of Apple/Adobe alluding it is the responsibility of the other party to remove the additional foreign fonts. I understand the concept of the Mac OS needing many options of fonts, I've just run into the very big problem of InDesign crashing upon launch (Day 3 of this... very bad for productivity), which drove me to research what to do when I stumbled upon a post that said to try clearing the Font cache on my MacBook Pro. I did, it seems to help launch InDesign more consistently but it still crashed a few times until this moment (knock on wood). If I needed to clear my font cache on my Mac OS yet still see multiple pages of foreign fonts on my Adobe software (bracing to see what havoc the next launch of InDesign will bring) this still leaves the problem of which company will resolve the m

So I have some customers that are still on InDesign 18.3 and 18.5 and they cannot update to a later version because they are using third-party software that is locked to these versions. After purchasing some new hardware, they are unable to download or install InDesign 18/2023 via the CC app. I reached out to Adobe support, but all they would give me is a link for an 18.0 installer. The installer works, but there is no longer any way for the CC app to update it to 18.3/4/5. I have asked them repeatedly and the same answer every time-this is the only installer we have OR update to 2024 or 2025 which is not an option. The only thing that has sorta worked is copying the InDesign app itself from a working machine and copying over the 18.0 version that got installed with the installer. This is a less than ideal solution-anyone have any ideas or access to 18.3/4/5 updates, directly?

I’m using InDesign Version 20.0.1 on macOS Sonoma Version 14.7.1. The screen turns white when dragging an object with the Selection Tool. The screen also flashes white when selecting inside a text frame with the Type Tool, and the blinking cursor doesn’t appear in the frame. I tried hiding rulers but that didn’t help. The option for GPU Performance in InDesign Preferences is grayed out: 

How to differentiate between full and half-colon double quotes.Trying to look for  " in InDesign and ended up finding  “ as well.how do I differentiate between them in Grep? Already checked the full half-corner option below, but it doesn't seem to be working. 

Indesign often records screen and audio for a few seconds even if it doesn't have active permission. How is this possible? And for what reason? The screenshot is to show that no app has permission to record.   <Title renamed by MOD>

Bonjour à tous et toutes, j'utilise la suite Adobe sur plusieurs PC sans souci d'habitude.Mais sur l'un d'entre eux (Windows 11 PC récent) Indesign ne veut plus s'ouvrir (ça affiche le pop-up de lancement mais il disparait directement).  Après enquête, le souci arrive à la version 19.4 et suivante, si je réinstalle la 19.3 (ou inférieure) tout fonctionne bien.Aucun souci sur les autres PC quelle que soit la version. J'ai fait toutes les actions de trouble shooting proposées par Adobe (réinstaller en supprimant tout etc.., supprimer le cache, vérifier les droits, les DLL etc...) Rien en change, dès que je suis en version 19.4 ou plus ça ne démarre plus. Quelqu'un a une idée SVP ?

 

I'm working on a long manuscript.  I was having certain problems yesterday with this document crashing InD, so I uninstalled and reinstalled the program and recreated the document (luckily I wasn't very deep into it at that point).  All was well until today when I needed to make frequent use of the Find/Replace box.  Now, a different problem has sprung up. As I'm typing in the search phrase, my cursor jumps back to the beginning of the field, and my search phrase ends up garbled.  For example, I searched for the phrase, "inseparable from laptop use," but because the cursor jumped around, the phrase ended up as "laptop use inseparable from."  I first thought it was user error and tried to type it again, but the same thing happened again with various results -- none of it matching what I was trying to type.  I finally had to type very, very slowly and pause between each keystroke before I could get the phrase correctly entered into the field. Has a

Hey there.I'm working on a large book consisting of several chapters. Off course the first InDesign document contains a table of contents and it does correctly display all chapters from the other documents. However, when exporting the bookmarks / hyperlinks in the TOC are all broken for any link that is not within that InDesign document. I.e.:<doc 1> TOC; TOF; TOC; Chapter 0;<doc 2> Chapter 1; C1.1; C1.2; C1.2.1; C1.2.2;<doc x> .... <Table of contents displays>TOC <OK> TOF <OK> TOC <OK> C0 <OK> Chapter 1 <LINK BROKEN> C1.1 <LINK BROKEN> C1.2 <LINK BROKEN> C1.2.1 <LINK BROKEN> C1.2.2 <LINK BROKEN> Chapter 2 <LINK BROKEN> .... <LINK BROKEN>This happens on the Table of Contents as well as my Table of Figures and Table of Tables. So I assume it is more structural. Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this?&nb

The screen turns white when I try to select multiple objects. Flickering also appears when I try to move an object

Since last week, pdfs exported from InDesign as Interactive are unexpectedly large – like 12.5 MB instead of 2-3 MB. I tried using the smallest resolution too, but previously I used the default Interactive specs and resolution size of 144 PPI and still had small files.  When I open and re-save them as “reduce file size” or “optimize" in Acrobat, the pdfs don’t get smaller. That has been my workaround in the past, but these pdfs can't be reduced in size more than 1MB. This is happening across multiple InDesign projects, but I have one template I have used for years and been able to always save it out to a small size. There is nothing unusual or new with the content of the files that I can discern. The template file which I'm troubleshooting doesn't even have transparency and the placed images are either small vector files or compressed jpgs. What I tried: I tried exporting from three InDesign versions.I installed the Adobe PPD and made the pdf the old-fashioned

Hi All, I have a lovely script created by an ex. colleague and some lovely chaps here on this forum (see below) which applies specific cell styles to tables, depending on the cells' position in the table. What I would like to do is edit the script to target all open documents instead of the active document. I am guessing I need "app.documents" instead of "app.activeDocument" at the top, but I am worried this won't work lower down in the script, where "app.documents[0]" appears, as I think this means the first of all open documents? HiI've created my table of contents, including all paragraph styles used throughout the document that I need to show.The problem I'm having is I'm using a hard line break to separate 'Impact Case Study' and the study title. I need some line spacing between the two and in different styles - otherwise I'd use a soft return.This is showing up in the ToC as 2 separate bookmarks. I want to bring back the title to be next to Impact Case Study but this throws up errors when I do accessibility check in adobe acrobat.Is there a way round this?

Hallo, ich habe zwei sehr seltsame Bugs an denen ich verzweifle bzw. die mich fast zum Ausrasten bringen. 1. Wenn ich ein Objekt anklicke verschiebt es sich im Bereich 0-1 mm nach oben und/oder links. Nicht immer aber fast immer und immer unterschiedlich stark.2. Wenn ich die Farbe durch Klick auf ein Farbfeld ändern möchte funktioniert das nicht. Es erscheint immer als Mauszeiger eine zupackende Hand und dann passiert nichts. Dh. ich kann die Farben durch draufziehen ändern aber nicht mehr durch Anklicken.  Es scheint also vielleicht eine Art Mauszeigerfehler zu sein, dass Indesign denkt ich ziehe immer minimal in eine Richtung obwohl ich einfach nur Klicke.  Die Fehler passieren sowohl beim Trackpad als auch bei einer Externen Maus.  Ich habe bereits mit dem Adobe Cleaner Tool sämtliche Indesign-Dateien gelöscht und neuinstalliert, trotzdem bleiben die Fehler bestehen. System ist ein Macbook Air 2020 mit M1 Falls mir hier jemand helfen kan

working on a book with each chapter as separate files. front matter (cover, table of contents, etc ends on the right page.chapter 1, which is page 1, has to start on the left page and each chapter ends on a right page. therefore, next chapter, odd page, must also start on the left page. in the book page numbering, i have set it to continue from previous section.each file chapter is set to automatic page numbering.somehow, the next chapter still starts on the right page and not on the left. i cannot get chapter 1 to start on the left page with this setting so to force it, i disabled allow spread to shuffle. i have attached screenshot for book page numbering, chapter 1 setting and chapter 2 setting.chapter 2 setting should start on the left and not right. 

When you have a hidden page / spread. it still shows when you're scrolling in your workspace. When I first hid a page, a pop up came up asking a setting about what I wanted to do with hidden pages. I cant for the life of me find it now on how to NOT show hidden pages. Hoping that when you hide a page, it hides the page from your workspace too, not only your export. 

Hello, I'm typing the Greek alphabet with minion pro, and when I try to make something small caps... it doesn't work. I've searched adobe fonts and can't find anything obvious to help. Of course I can change fonts, but it seems like it would be a weird oversight if there were really no Greek small caps with minion. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi. I made a graphic (e-)novel that I want to publish on AppleBooks and Kindle. In exporting from InDesign to Epub, something is happening to the colours. I've attached two screen captures. The 1st shows how the artwork appears in InDesign (which is also how it appears in the linked file in Photoshop; it's correct). The 2nd shows how it appears in EPub. You can see how the colors have dulled down. I've tried everything I can think of in InDesgn to fix the problem, but no luck. Can someone please help?     <Title renamed by MOD>

In my line of work, all emails must be lowercased. Typically an email is on a forced line break of its own. For example ^nem@emconsultinginc.com^n as such. Sometimes it has to be split due to columns such as: ^nem@em^nconsultinginc.com^n. How do I write a grep that will look for next lines behind and ahead, with a string of text including: Upper Case, Lower Case, Numbers, Hyphens, Underscores, and potentially other next lines. But ONLY find those emails that include an uppercase letter. I wish to ignore the search finding emails that are completely lowercased.

Hi all! I'm running 17.4 on my Mac. I have a file that I created. When I go to save it, it warns me that image(s) are missing. But they aren't! I went to the Links window... and it shows everything is fine. I checked the master pages and looked for anything that was locked. Nothing. It saved it... but it worries me that it thinks something is missing. It's a small file... just one page with 5 links. So it shouldn't be hard to find. But it is!  Any ideas? Thanks!
