When starting InDesign CC2020 under Windows (22H2), the dialog for licensing the application (operation of single application in virtualized environment; without Creative Cloud Desktop App) only appears with QR code, which leads to an error message. Until recently (approx. 3 weeks ago), an input field for the Adobe ID appeared. I've never had this issue before. I'm taking what I think is plain text with indented paragraphs as I have done before.  When I paste into InDesign with a specific paragraph style it sometimes includes an extra tab space in the indents and other times it maintains the style set for it.  Not sure why. I never had this issue before. Some paragraphs are indenting as they should while others seem to have a tab space in addition to the indent. Crazy making.Anyone else have this experience?  Is there some trick I am missing?Thanks for your help

I can't:select multiple items with my cursor - I have to selet each individually select text certain textcopy and paste things (they paste on random other pages). Any ideas? It's pretty disastrous for my current project. It's become unusable, I'm considering ways to export the whole thing. Shame as I'd just set up a document and the update to Hide Pages is actually a great help. If only the rest worked.   

Hi,   I have the 19.5 version of InDesign. I have a document that has a mix of English and Arabic. I took the file from someone else, who is Arabic. I had to add Adobe Arabic to my fonts. Since then, the numbers in my English text are in Arabic. I need them to be in English. When I highlight the number, it doesn't say Adobe Arabic, it says the English font that I used.   Please advise on how to make the switch,   Appreciate it,   Thanks!   <Title renamed by MOD>

Hello, I will attach an example image, where I would like to know if I have any option to merge the background of the images in my catalog, directly within InDesign without needing to use Photoshop. The idea is that the edges do not appear and the images background borders blend togheter.

I have an .indcc document saved to the Cloud which I was happily editing earlier today. Now when I try to open it, either in 20.0 or Beta 20.1 InDesign crashes. It is a particular file that won't open, other files are fine. "Adobe InDesign is shutting down. A serious error was detected. Please restart InDesign to recover work in any unsaved InDesign documents." How do I get the file back up and running please? 1. Things were fine until I got started on chapter 2 of the book. I couldn't find a way to start over with endnote 1. If someone has a solution, I'd love to hear it.2. The main frustration is: when I insert a new endnote, say 47, on the endnote page it inserts the number in front of the data for endnote 46, and moves the data down. Endnote 46 is still there, but has no reference information. I can cut the info and paste it back where it belongs, but InDesign just does the same thing next time - endnote 48 moves down the data from endnote 47.It doesn't matter where I put the cursor. I've tried it after the endnote information, on the following line where the new endnote will go, and (as I grew more aggravated) at random spots on the page. It simply moves down the info from the previous endnote.I have to match the endnotes with a list in Word, and am copying from Word and pasting into InDesign. It worked fine for chapter 1. I'm only a little way into chapter 2, and there are 8 chapters.D

Adobe is messing with my flow. I do newspapers in Indesign. At the start of filling in content on a newspaper I grab a range of individual word docs in the OS and drop them onto the page, rapidly click them off in a horizontal row, select them all and then apply body style with a hot key. From there I figure out where I'm going to put them and the rest of the formatting. In ID2023 they've added the maddening "feature" of popping up the gray box with a "T" in it on the bottom of any story box where the contents are longer than the box draw on placement. It goes away if the user does any click/keystroke. Clicking on the box applies an Auto Style from the ether, and opens the Styles panes. So instead of being able to smoothly go through clicks that each result in a text frame placement, I'm now having to frequently double click every time I place a longer story jsut to make the Auto Styles box go away. I'm a high actions per minute guy, and it's driving me up the wall.&nbsp

  I wanted to kindly ask. I need to create a photo book that reproduces book pages (text only) (scanned)and since they are scanned manually they all have a different inclination from each other, there is a system on indesign that allows you to do this automatically for all the pages of the book that I need to create. Hi everyone,I’m having trouble scaling with Shift since the last update and couldn’t find any information about it. I don’t have any plugins installed.When I press Shift to scale, it works as expected, except when it encounters a guide or another element with smart guides enabled. In that case, it snaps non-proportionally to where my mouse is, instead of maintaining proportionality and snapping vertically or horizontally to the guide/element where I have the mouse.Disabling snapping and smart guides solves the issue, but it’s not a real solution because, aside from the hassle of constantly turning them on and off, I often need to scale an image proportionally while snapping one of its sides to a guide.Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Is this the expected behavior, or is it a bug? Maybe it’s a new feature. In that case, is there an option to return to the previous behavior? Thanks,Martín   <Title renamed by MOD>

Hi, On InDesign, I create two documents, A and B.On document A, I’m using the “app.activeDocument.pages[0].rectangles.add()” to create a new rectangle on the first page.In document B, I create the same rectangle using the tool (manually).I export both documents as an IDML and extract the XML files for the same spread, comparing their contents. In the IDML of document A ItemTransform of the rectangle is “1 0 0 1 5 -391” while in document B ItemTransform is “1 0 0 1 0 0”. Also in document A most of the properties like GradientFillStart, GradientStrokeStart, PathPointType, etc values for X and Y are sifted by 5 and -391.The problem is that when I’m trying to create a GradientFeather using a script providing the proper values for gradientStart, angle, length, etc the result is never correct on Document A but always ok on document B.I search by printing out all the properties for the two documents, spreads, pages, and rectangles and everything returns the same values for all the proper

Hi all I need to enter Document Titles for accessibility.It was viewing just fine on my first few documents, but is now partially hidden (it's moved upwards somehow) as per screenshot. I've reset preferences with no effect. Any clues? Thanks!

Please tell me i'm wrong, but I've looked through the "What's New" page, and watched the presentation about InDesign from Max, and for the life of me, I can't find a reason worth upgrading.  The new features seem like they're only useful for pretty niche workflows, or features that already exist in other apps more suited to those features.  It feels kind of like how Seth Meyer's describes the set up for his "Surprise Inspection" segment, the developers just pulled things from other apps to fulfill the assignment.  I can't find any info about "stability" or "performance" improvements, but so far, that would really be the only reason I can imagine upgrading for, and those improvements would have to be significant for it to be worth it.     Right now, I'm dealing with documents that crash every few mintes, and the best advice I've been given from Adobe Support is to save an IDML and/or start from scratch.  IDML doesn't help more than a little bit, and startin

Hi, Since the upgrade to V20 i'm having major issues with styles. "edit style" and "duplicate style" cause the application to hang requiring "end task" to get out. create new style seems to work ok.   This has only happened since the recent update, though i'm uncertain if i have used those commands since the update.   I have tested this on several documents in different locations and the result is the same. I'm using remote desktop with a VPN.   Is this a known issue? i havent seen it posted.   Help appreciated     <Title renamed by MOD>

I too am having link trouble after updating to InDesign Version 20 (InDesign 2025) last Tuesday or the Tuesday before that.I have tried:-relinking-Adjusting link files and relinking-Re-placing linked file (ctrl+d)-Uninstalling and reinstalling InDesign 2025-Uninstalling InDesign 2025 for version 19.5 (2024)-Making a new File in the 2025 version and copy/pasting the old assets to the new file.-Making the design from scratch with the same images (links)-Converting the file back to the 19.5 version of InDesign and relinking, re-placing, copy/pasting. None of this works.Adobe!! Please fix your software!! We have deadlines...

Also, can I sell my designs to selling platforms like Etsy, Amazon etc? Newbie creating a book with InDesign, thanks for your help and patience.   The book offers 365 tips, one for each day of the year, broken down into 12 chapters. How can I get InDesign to automatically add the right tip number to the page using running headers of something? I've added page numbers, but the tip number is different as there wont be a tip number for a page that has a chapter title on it.   The book is set up with two parent pages, one double spread which has a tip on each page, and the other single spread with the chapter title.   Thanks in advance   <Title renamed by MOD>

Almost every move I make in Indesign 20.0, this video thing pops up and partially covers my artboard and panels. I can click "Got It," but it just keeps popping up again and again as I'm doing WORK. Hello,I design in Brazilian Portuguese and I need that when a word is hypheneted (like twenty-one or dates like 1914-1991) it creates another - in a line break. Example: 1914-1991:The Age of Extremes: The Short Twentieth Century, 1914--1991 (London: Abacus, 1995). Austria-Hungary:which included forces from Japan, France, Germany, Italy, and Austria--Hungary. How can I automatically set that?

I'm experiencing issues with both the "Replace Text" and "Strikethrough Text" tools in InDesign Review when accessing it via Safari 18.0.1. I’m unable to select text in my online review document to use either tool, which is preventing me from making necessary changes. Everything else seems to be working fine, but these tools are unresponsive. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Could this be a bug with Safari 18.0.1, or is there a workaround that I can use to enable text selection for these tools in the review panel? Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated! Hola a todos.En Indesign, cuando hago un Publish Online en el navegador del desktop lo veo bien, es decir, con los vídeos que comienzan al cargarse la página. Pero cuando me voy a un dispositivo como un iPad o un iPhone, los vídeos no comienzan cuando se carga la página, tengo que hacer clic para poder visualizarlo y es algo que quería evitar, a qué es debido? gracias

So I'm having the worst week ever. I have a dozen ebooks that I need to make and it looks like InDesign is throwing me a curve ball... again.   It's a list of errors with the code RSC-005. It doesn't matter if it's a real ebook (9781761112751.epub - Yes, there is a font issue on this one too, but it doesn't matter as readers will ignore the font anyway.)   Or just a single page with lorem ipsum (Testing.epub) which I made to test whether I was the problem or InDesign was, but the results are the same. Suffice to say, it's definitely InDesign.   All of a sudden every ebook I'm exporting is failing the EPUB 2.0.1 rules because of this. It's never happened before, I don't understand what this means.   My older ebooks were fine. They all passed validation before, but when I try exporting them now in the current version of InDesign 19.5 they all have this issue now.   I've narrowed it down to the cover images. I figured given most of the errors contain a reference
