Trying to change fonts weight and it's only changing the first letter of a word?

Any ideas on whats going on here, only seems to be happening to the one font i want to use 'Spartan' 

When i type anything only the one letter in a word is adopting the weight i choose and the rest of the word is thin, i will attach a photo. I've used this font for a client for years and it's only just started happening. My Indesign is up to date any ideas?
